Q6. (Isaiah 27:12-13) When Isaiah prophesies the gathering of all his people at the sound of a great trumpet call, to what New Testament event does this correspond?

Isaiah's prophecy of the gathering of all his people at the sound of a great trumpet call, correspons to Matthew 24:31 in the New Testament which says, "And he will send out his angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather his chosen ones from all over the world--from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven."

Jews blow the shofer (which is a long curved trumpet made from a ram's horn, I believe) on Rhas-ha-shanah. THis is a warning signal to Israel, a sign that they're supposed to meet at a prearranged place. They would meet as a group to battle an enemy.

In the NT this blowing of the shofer is spiritualized becoming a metaphor for the gathering of Christians before/as/after?? Christ comes again. In the quoted Matthew passage, angels gather the elect after hearing the trumpet call: in the quoted Isaiah passage, there is just a sound to which suffering and exiled Israelites responded and were thus gathered.

I have a close Jewish friend who was chosen by his synagogue to blow the shofer this year. He said it was a moving experience. An older man, he had never before blown the shofer.

Q6. (Isaiah 27:12-13)

When Christ's Kingdom is established on earth and all His people are called from the 4 corners as it were.  It corresponds with the 2nd coming.
