van
The positive characteristics of two witnesses is they were given power from God, and they also prophesied 1,260 days. We should stand in the same kind of faith believing and depending on God to see us through an situation in earth. The reward they received after the enemy over-powered and killed the two witnesses, instead of being put in a grave they laid in the street for three and half days and God raised them from the dead for everyone to see and those that saw was afraid. tgandy
I believe the two witnesses are Moses and Elijah. It was said in v. 6 that they have the power to turn the water into blood and to cause the plagues. Moses did that. It is said in 2 Kings 1: 9 - 10 that fire pours from their mouths and burs up their enemies, and that they can shut up the heaven so that the rain is withheld. Elija did this. Elijah was also expected to return to bring on the end, and God promised that he would raise up a prophet like Moses. So, I believe this is the identity of the 2 withesses. These two are to witness and prophesy for 1260 days. Their message will be sombre. We too should witness no matter what the cost. This witness cost them their lives. The beast comes from the Abyss and kills them. 3 days they lie in the streets, but a breath of life from God enters them, they stand and they go to heaven in a cloud. Wow! The survivors from the ensuing earthquatke gave glory to God.
Craig
Q1. (11:3-12 ) Interpreters disagree upon the identity of the Two Witnesses, but they are certainly strong and brave. What positive characteristics do you see in their actions that we should emulate in our day? What is their reward? Some positive characteristics displayed by the Two Witnesses that should be emulated include: They are going to be humble, open and willing servants of God. Thus God is going to use them in a powerful way to witness to the world the truth of God. They will be God's representatives on earth during a most horrific time for the Church. As lampstands they will shine forth the light of God -- the light of truth to a wicked, sinful, rebellious, and intentionally disbelieving world around them. They will shine forth in the name of God despite danger and hardship. God gives them great power to get the attention of a rebellious world. They are martyred by the beast from the abyss and then resurrected by the Lord God Almighty. God glorified them by taking them up into heaven in a cloud while their enemies looked on. These witnesses serve as a great example as to how Christians should exercise their faith through humbly, consistently, patiently enduring persecution and hardship if need be in representing God on this planet, Faithfulness to God on this planet ends in spending eternity with God. Christians should be willing and open servants of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
JoanG
These two witnesses are not afriad to tell the people what is going to happen. They are not afraid to use the power that God has given them. They are willing to use their powers to show the people on earth the greatness of God. They show no fear when it is their time to die. Their reward for doing God's work here on earth is that they are raised from the dead and taken up into heaven. Their enemies will watch their glorious transformation. Paulhoward
To be persevering in our witness. not to give up in the face of opposition. To know that it will be rewarded and heaven is our reward.
Old Jerry
They were strong and brave and they kept witnessing to the end and they were killed for that. We should be witnessing and standing up for faith in Jesus Christ and we will be rewarded like the two witnesses and be raised up to heaven.
