Old Jerry
This verse is famous because it gives us a warm fuzzy feeling about our God. It teaches us that God really does love us because he sacrificed His Son for us. It teaches us that we have to have faith in his Son to have eternal life. Our destiny is sure if we believe in his Son.
Godswriter
Q4. (John 3:16) Why is this verse so famous? What does it teach us about God? What does it teach us about salvation? Since "entering eternal life" is a synonym for "entering the Kingdom of God," what does this verse teach us about our destiny? This verse is so famous because of the fact it is so easy to memorize and it is shown at football games. It teaches us that God loved us more than Himself to sacrifice of His Son for us to unite us with Him. It is teaching us that freely given to us by Him. It shows us that our destiny is sealed with Christ's death on the cross.
Rosesam
Q4. (John 3:16) Why is this verse so famous? What does it teach us about God? What does it teach us about salvation? Since “entering eternal life” is a synonym for “entering the Kingdom of God,” what does this verse teach us about our destiny? The entire gospel can be summed up in this particular verse. God initiated this salvation for us because he had intense love for the entire mankind. Jesus said this to Nicodemus, a Jew, of God’s agape love for the world. So it is not just for a select few, or only for the Jews, but for the whole world because sin is universal and there is only one cure for the S-I-N virus and that God provided for everyone. It is not initiated by man’s desire for self-improvement or self-advancement, but unless extended towards us from above, we cannot attain salvation. Because God’s love is active and not passive, He gave His best, only begotten, mongenes, one of a kind, unique Son. When Adam sinned he ran away from God, but God came to him. Likewise, there is no way we can initiate salvation by our efforts, God has to extend it to us, and He did because of His deepest love towards us, which is beyond our comprehension or understanding. And now, the invitation is given to “whoever”. All may not respond back to Him. But those who respond will not perish, but have everlasting life, or eternal life. But those who do not respond will perish, and will suffer eternal damnation.

(1) Because it says and tells us of the whole purpose of Christ's life, love and death in one verse. (2) That we must 'believe' in Him to inherit eternal life rather than eternal torment in hell if we don't believe in Him! (3) That those of us who believe in Him will spend eternity in Heaven (the Kingdom of God) instead of in hell where we'll be tormented forever and forever, and forever. An eternity! Jonathan Edwards
I have pondered about this verse very deeply. It is very important because judgement has come to this current world when Jesus Christ, the Eternal Word became flesh. Christ was not a phantom, nor just a prophet nor merely godlike. He took on human flesh but didn't have inherited original sin. The Son of Man was to be lifted up on the Cross for all mankind as the serpent was raised by the prophet Moses. Zoe life from on high would be available; Christ Jesus is the new Adam. God's divine love is beyond telling. Love that is stronger than death. The Hebrew prophets preached and wrote eloquently about the love of God. Prophet Ezekiel would use the allegory of the Good Shepherd who looks for His wandering sheep. Ezekiel reinforced the teaching that the new Israel would be the bearers of the Shekinah glory. We don't read about a new Ark of the Covenant in the Millenial Temple. Due to God's redeeming love we are the restored People of God. In the future, God will be doing even more restoration of dead bones. Even now, we are seated with Christ in heavenly places. We have access to the Holy of Holies---what a deep and and holy position we have. We aren't in the outer court of the Temple, we abide in Christ Jesus, we are the Body of Christ, we are temples of the Holy Spirit, third person of the Holy Trinity! Our futures are beyond telling according to the Holy Scriptures. Being the Bride of Christ, we will be with Christ reigning forever and ever. Daniel R
1. Why is this verse so famous? John 3:16 is such a famous verse because it (simply) sums up the message of the Gospel/Good News in one verse!!! 2. What does it teach us about God? John 3:16 teaches us that God had (and still has!!!) SUCH love for us that as a result of it, He GAVE His Only Son for the PURPOSE of us being saved and receiving eternal life (with Him!!!!!!!) rather than us going to hell and being in eternal pain, torture, and death. 3. What does it teach us about God's salvation? John 3:16 teaches us that God's salvation is for everyone, for the whole world!!! 4. Since "entering eternal life" is a synonym for "entering the Kingdom of God," what does this verse teach us about our destiny? John 3:16 teaches us that our destiny will be eternal life in Heaven with God but also that our destiny has already begun, because we have been "born again/anew/from above" and have entered into the Kingdom of God already!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!!
Irmela
. (John 3:16) Why is this verse so famous? What does it teach us about God? What does it teach us about salvation? Since "entering eternal life" is a synonym for "entering the Kingdom of God," what does this verse teach us about our destiny? This verse is the Gospel in a nutshell. It says it all. God's love for the world is so great, that it did not stop Him from giving His only-begotten (unique) Son. It cost God so much and it is for EVERYONE (NOBODY IS EXCLUDED). We need to believe in (trust in / cling to/ rely on) Him,to be saved i.e., not to perish or come to destruction. There are two destinations. If we reject what God is freely giving us, our destination is hell. If we accept what God is freely giving us our destination is ETERNAL LIFE.
