Q3. Holy City, Bride, Church

Recommended Posts

Q3. (Revelation 21:9-27) John's vision of the Holy City is obviously strongly symbolic. But the Holy City pictures "the bride, the wife of the Lamb" (21:9-10; 21:2). What does John's vision of the Holy City tell us about the way that Jesus looks at his Church?

The new Jersuleam is a precious, holy, and divine place that is all encompassing. The temple is the body which is represented by the new Jersuleam - which is the body of true believers. The foundations were laid by the twelve apostles - the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple - the body is the temple of the Lord and he dwells in us by the measure of our faith. This glory needs not a sun or moon for the glory itself is the light. Those who are saved shall walk in the light of it (the glory of Father and the Son in the Holy Spirit). All who enter bring glory and honor to it because God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ dwell within them and are partakers of the inheritance. Nothing will ever defile the body of Christ again!

I believe Jesus looks at his church as his precious treasure. He sees the beauty of the jewels, the golden streets, the pearly gates, and the heavenly light shinning with the glory of God.

Jesus looks at his bride (the church) in and out of the "Holy City" as eyes full of love and open wide showing the light of the lamb and the protectiveness of the lion

I believe Jesus looks at the church with great love and awe! He is proud of the church and pleased at her beauty. The beauty fo the church being her faithfulness and love towards HIM. She is adorned as no other bride has ever been. Nothing is too much for her.

Jesus looks at His church as a church that is a virgin, without spot or blemish. That means we have no idols before Him, that He alone is who we worship and as His betrothed, we are completely His, living in His Word and not that of false prophets. We are clean and sanctified, new, a new city.

Jesus looks at his church with the eyes of a man waiting for his bride. He has love in his eyes, warmth in his heart and face. She is beautifully presented and glowing with her love for him - which strengthens his love for her. He is proud and unashamed, filled with love for her.

Jesus loves us so much and loves to see us coming to him, both in the commitment to him and in daily prayer and study. He longs for us to walk unashamed down that isle to Him - with eyes on him while others' eyes are on us.

Not everyone will be allowed into new Jerusalem, but only those whose names are written in the Lambs Book Life.

We will not enter because of our background, personality or good behavior. Eternal life is available to us only because of what Jesus the lamb has done.

Just as a man sdtands at the alter waiting for his bride to come up the aisle to him in all her glory and white gown symbolizing purity is the way Jesus sees us and waits for in the kingdom. We are his bride and he is preparing a place for us and awaits our arrival so his family will be complete and together.

Jesus looks his church as spotless , without any blemish and no impurities .

Jesus would look his church in the same way as a comman would expect his new wife to be , he would expect his wife to be a virgin ,perfect qualities .

In spititual sence it would be free from sin.As he has already taken our sins thru his blood .

So this responsibility lays with us how we keep our self pure for jesus to come again and take us with him in to the new jerusalem.

The church is one not seen in chapters 1-3, the church to which Christ gave His warnings to.

We know that any good husband is ready to DIE for his family, his wie or kids; in fact many do die by overworking to support their families. We all have our problems and deal with them in different ways.

Jesus loved His bride the church, and He died for her/us. Praise Him for doing what the Father sent Him to do! Praise Him with song and loud voice, with a strong heart, with all our love and admisation; praise the King of Salvation!

Q3. (Revelation 21:9-27)

John's vision of the Holy City is obviously strongly symbolic. But the Holy City pictures "the bride, the wife of the Lamb" (21:9-10; 21:2).

What does John's vision of the Holy City tell us about the way that Jesus looks at his Church?

The bride (wife of the Lamb) symbolizes the Holy City, which again symbolises the Church in its perfected eternal state. Jesus (as the husband, and the Lamb) supplies His Church(His wife) with everything she needs, and honours her with great respect and adorns her with attractive attire. The full beauty of this church will not be evident until the Lord returns in glory. It is the imagery of the Holy City and the bride that brings us and our Lord into an inseparable husband-wife relationship. This city is called holy as it has been consecrated by God as a place without sin; in other words, it is perfect in every respect. The privilege of living forever in the presence of God is his gracious gift to us.

Jesus looks at His church as a bride; the object of his affection. He loved her, adored her and she said yes. As He looks at His bride, she has prepared herself for this special day; a bride puts forth effort of every detail for this anticipated day. Now, His eyes fall on her, fully prepared.

Jesus sees the Church as pure, without spot or blemish of any kind. He sees it free from corruption and any and all corruptible influences which eliminates any possibility of becoming corrupt thereby being perfect. ..
