Godswriter
Q3. (John 7:17) Can we truly know God’s will if we’re not really willing to obey the truth we know? Why not? I don't believe we can know God's will without being willing to obey the truth of God's Word. We would be only doing only our will and not His. We won't be able to hear His voice and know what He wants for us to do at all.
Paula Price
Not sure why this question is being asked. Only those who have chosen to believe in God and accept and believe that Jesus is the son of God and was raised from the dead and repent and are baptized are members of the church of God. God reveals his will to true believers. Faith is the belief in God. So we walk by faith. God reveals his will to those who believe. There is a condition to receiving the will and knowledge of God. We have to chose to follow the plan of salvation that God has designed for us to follow. We have to do his will his way, not our way. So if we are not willing to obey the will of God, what is the point of knowing His will???
Jonathan Edwards
Prophet Isaiah taught that God will choose delusions because when He called, they didn't heed to His voice; but persisted in evil, and chose that in which God delighted not (Isaiah 66:4). The sermons of Prophet Ezekiel have admonitions of the same genre. God has put stumbling blocks in their obstinate hearts; they believe in lies. They cannot know God's will. They have a Laodicean spirit; they gloss over the commands of the Holy Bible.
Irmela
Q3. (John 7:17) Can we truly know God's will if we're not really willing to obey the truth we know? Why not? No. Only if we hold to His teaching can we know the truth and the truth will set us free. If we are not willing to obey we reject what we ought to accept and then we cannot be led further into the truth. Why should His will be revealed to us if we are not going to follow it anyway? Why not? Unfortunately no, Jesus in john15:7-8 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples." If we are to truly be called disciples, we needs to lean into Christ to transform us and from their the Spirit works in us daily to do the will of our Father, to walk with our Father, and to obey.
