pickledilly
John 8:44 teaches us that the devil has never been anything but a murderer and a liar who has nothing to do with the truth. When we do not tell or believe the truth, we are acting according to the character of this “father of lies”, the originator of deceit. Because Jesus Himself is the Truth, when we do not believe Him we are rejecting truth in favor of lies. That would make the habitual liar a child of the devil, not of God. JanMary
Q5. (John 8:44) What does this verse teach us about the devil’s character? The devil is a murderer (he came to kill, steal and destroy...a sworn enemy of God and God's people), there is no truth in him. He is the father of lies....he sometimes tells a partial truth also containing a lie, such as he told Eve in the Garden. What does this tell us about people who don’t always tell the truth? It an unbeliever, they belong to their father the devil. If a believer tells lies, they are bound by habitual sin and can be set free by the blood of the lamb. (Lying is a character flaw with shame issues attached, and need emotional healing and deliverance...also usually liars don't know they are loved by God and by others.) If Jesus is “the Truth” (14:6), what is an habitual liar? One who belongs to the father of lies...the devil.

Jen
Q5. (John 8:44) What does this verse teach us about the devil's character? What does this tell us about people who don't always tell the truth? If Jesus is "the Truth" (14:6), what is an habitual liar? The devil is a liar and a murderer. He knows the truth and cannot bear it. He flees from the truth to his abode of darkness. People who don't always tell the truth. That is a hard one. Some I know grew up learning to lie to protect themselves or because they were never corrected. This can continue on and only the Holy Spirit can convict that person that it is not of God. Some are not believers and others for whom it is a habit who profess the Lord need to repent of it and walk in the truth. God Bless! What does this tell us about people who don't always tell the truth? If Jesus is "the Truth" (14:6), what is an habitual liar? The devil is a liar and his character is lying. It thus means that anyone who lies speaks the language of his father the devil. Jesus is the truth, anyone who habitually tells lies is not a son of God i.e. not born again. What does this tell us about people who don’t always tell the truth? If Jesus is “the Truth” (14:6), what is an habitual liar? This verse teaches us that the devil was a murderer from the beginning, hater of truth, and father of lies. People who don't always tell the truth are controlled by the devil and are used as tools to carry out his plan. A habitual liar is one that do not belong God, but to the devil. John 8:44 teaches us that the Devil's character is a liar and the father of lies. People who do not tell the truth have their father, the Devil who has no truth in him. If Jesus is the truth, then a habitual liar has problems with telling the truth, he does not know the truth always wants people to think he is very important, and this by deceiving others. hanks
Q5. (John 8:44) What does this verse teach us about the devil's character? What does this tell us about people who don't always tell the truth? If Jesus is "the Truth" (14:6), what is a habitual liar? We learn that the devil hates truth and that there is absolutely no truth in him. He is a liar and the father of lies. By not telling the truth people are actually imitating the devil, and they are living the way he lives. To this day he continues to deceive people, we read in 2 Corinthians 4:4: “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” In our world today we see that the devil is having a field day keeping people in perpetual darkness, blinding them to the truth of the Gospel. The devil puts up barriers between unbelievers and God. These barriers may be, amongst many things, our pride, or our rebellion, even our self-righteousness. Jesus said, “No one comes to the Father except through Me (14:6).” The world says that it does not matter what you believe as long as you are sincere, and that all religions ultimately lead to heaven. This is all lies – the devil trying to deceive us as usual. Jesus is the only Way. The Lord Jesus is not just one of many ways. No one comes to the Father except through Him. Those who have Christ have the Truth. It is not found anywhere else. He is the truth. This tells us that the habitual liar is not of God. Clarence
Q5. (John 8:44) What does this verse teach us about the devil’s character? What does this tell us about people who don’t always tell the truth? If Jesus is “the Truth” (14:6), what is an habitual liar? 4 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. The devil has spiritual sons and daughters just as God has spirital sons and daughters. The devil is a liar and untruthful- "there is no truth in him". A habitual liar is one who is "incapable of admitting to the truth" (www.urbandictionary.com). He is also a murderer, responsible for the deception and murder of humankind (Genesis 3:1-7). RebeccaMallinson
This verse tells us about the deceptiveness of the devil. It also tells us that people who lie are followers of the devil, whether they know it or not. If Jesus is ‘the Truth’, a habitual liar is his opposite. This can seem very harsh, as often people have no idea that even a small lie or a lie intended to sooth someone’s feelings is wrong. It just shows how deceptive the devil is, when he turns what a person thinks is a friendly act into wrongdoing.
quilter
1.Satan is the father of lies and tries to get us to follow his ways. it we speak not truth we are liars if we steal we are thieves and if we are under the devils control we do not know Jesus as our Savior. 2. If we tell lies we are a follower of the devil and the truth is not in us. we all know that Jesus is the truth the light and the way. 3. A habitual liar never tells the truth. He wants all to think He is a mighty person and he tells lies to back this up.
royk
Q5. (John 8:44) What does this verse teach us about the devil's character? What does this tell us about people who don't always tell the truth? If Jesus is "the Truth" (14:6), what is an habitual liar? We all carry sin with us, but do we recognize it? Procrastination, limiting what God has for us by not willing to hear Him want to lead us to a better life, with less sin, with less self-centered fear of changing. How can we let go, and let God? Just not praying enough will do the trick; being careless as to thoughts in our minds, not not even careless, but inflexible to this calling we don't want to take action o; it doesn't matter what it is because it is different for all of us. Another opportunity to surrender, today, now and stop making God so little. Still going fast is asking for trouble. Almost as dangerous as not following His will at all. Driving cars fast leads to accidents. Follow the narrow road of the word, seeking wise advice can help us to stop habitually lying to ourselves and to others who need nourishment from us in the most wise way God can offer us. The time is now to recognize that we all need more nourishment and prayer and deeper more humble surrender. We can't judge others, only try to hear better Gods calling and not speak lies to ourselves; yet I an only speak for myself my brothers. We must eah find this with God's calling. Stanley Tavaziva
Q5. (John 8:44) What does this verse teach us about the devil's character? What does this tell us about people who don't always tell the truth? If Jesus is "the Truth" (14:6), what is an habitual liar? The attitudes and actions of these leaders clearly identified them as followers of Satan. They may not have been conscious of this, but their hatred of truth, their lies, and their murderous intentions indicated how much control the Devil had over them. They were his tools in carrying out his plans; they spoke the very same language of lies. Satan still uses people to obstruct God’s work (Genesis 4:8; Romans 5:12; 1 John 3:12). This is one of the most basic and important passages in Scripture. How can we know the way to God? Only through Jesus. Jesus is the way because he is both God and man. By uniting our lives with his, we are united with God. Trust Jesus to take you to the Father, and all the benefits of being God’s child will be yours. Even though it might seem hard to believe, lying is focused on habitual liar who focuses on getting their own way. They don’t have a lot of respect or regard for the feelings and rights of others. They tend to be charismatic and charming, but they will use their exceptional social skills in a self-centered and manipulative manner. JoanG
The devil is nothing but a liar. He will cover the truth anyway that he can so that he comes out looking good. He tries to convince people that the fantasies in his head are real. He has a hard time telling reality from fantasy.
Joe_Applegarth
Q5. (John 8:44) What does this verse teach us about the devil's character? What does this tell us about people who don't always tell the truth? If Jesus is "the Truth" (14:6), what is a habitual liar? The devil is the enemy. He’s not just the enemy of God, he’s the enemy of all mankind and single-minded in his mission to destroy us. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) All of us, whether good or bad, are God's creation. “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” (John 1:3). That said, even though we are all God’s children by creation, a liar is nothing more than a child of Satan. Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist--denying the Father and the Son. (1 John 2:22) Habitual liars, no matter what face they try to put on it, are deniers of the truth and the truth is Jesus Christ. RuthRW
Satan's main weapon is to deceive us, believers and unbelievers, with lies, twisting the truth or only using part of the truth. It is only the love of the word of God that will keep us out of deception. We who follow Jesus, in our fallen nature, can occasionally fall for the devil's scheme, not speaking the truth or omitting it, often out of fear of rejection or to gain advantage. But the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin and we feel terrible, repent and surely learn from it. A habitual sinner does not have God as his heavenly Father, he still follows the devil. I imagine he is not even aware of his habit or how wrong it is until he comes to true repentance in Jesus.
Old Jerry
This verse teaches that the devil is a liar. He will try to deceive all that he can. Jonathan Edwards
The devil is being exposed as the anti-christ. He causes confusions and delusions. Adam and Eve lied in the garden of Eden; the people rejected Christ due opening up their minds to Satan's lies. Today and since the ancient past, there have been people even in the church world that combine truth with error. They have specious or evasive reasonings...many seminaries teach errors combined with Orthodox sounding terms. Now we have many clergymen who are sincere but sincerely wrong. The results have been ruined ministries and destroyed lives due to lack of serious Bible study and a devout prayer life. The devil is the cause of this. I am reminded of the warnings of St John of the Cross when he taught about the wiles of the devil in the spiritual life. Sts John of the Cross and Bernard stressed the Lord Jesus Christ and the need of sanctification Habitual liers! The Prophets Ezekiel and Jeremiah witnessed such rascals during their ministries. These devious false prophets did not want the truth; they accepted idol worship and God sent them more stumbling blocks to further their rebellions. Amazingly they can put on a good show and the gullible fall for their deceptions. Some well known evangelists and high ranking Catholic officials have been serious deceived. High sounding theological training devalued their understanding of the Holy Bible.
