(Daniel 3:8-15) Why do the Jews’ fellow government officials report them to Nebuchadnezzar? Why is the king so angry? What is his motivation to have people bow to the statue?

Jealous government officials were watching the Jews. These government officials probably didn't like "foreigners" getting better government positions than the local, loyal citizens. King Nebuchadnezzar was angry. He sees this as nonnegotiable, an act of loyalty. He doesn't care whether or not this is against the Jews' religion. His pride was at stake. Every kind of officer of the empire was expected to be present at the image's dedication, probably to show their loyalty. This may have been an attempt by the king to solidify control over the diverse elements of his vast empire.

Q1. (Daniel 3:8-15) Why do the Jews' fellow government officials report them to Nebuchadnezzar? Why is the king so angry? What is his motivation to have people bow to the statue?

THIS IS NOTHING NEW, IT HAPPENS IN THE WORKPLACE EVEN NOW:  GETTING PEOPLE OUT OF THE WAY, MOTIVATED BY JEALOUSY! Human nature hasn't changed all that much in 2,500 years…. In spite of appearances, God is in control… Not willing to bow… pride was at stake… The key words here are "fall down" and "worship."  Jealous government officials are watching the Jews… don't like "foreigners" getting better government positions… He has no respect for their God -- even though at one point he had honored Daniel's God (2:47).

THE KING IS ANGRY BECAUSE he is afraid of losing control and his pride is at stake.  The interesting thing is, he has already validated the power of 'their' God; it is how they got in the position of leadership.  In the face of PRIDE, reasoning takes a vacation.  GOD IS THERE TO SHOW HIM ONE MORE TIME!

Q1. (Daniel 3:8-15) Why do the Jews' fellow government officials report them to Nebuchadnezzar?

Jealousy...they didn't want the foreigners to get "off the hook" while they themselves were commanded to worship the image.

There is another aspect "behind the scenes" just as there has always been and is today. Anti-Semitism, stirred up by Satan. He has known from the beginning  their heritage would produce the promised Messiah and killed boy babies 2 years old and younger in Bethlehem. He had boy babies killed in Goshen, and through Haman planned to exterminate them,  and but for Esther's bold courage, and God's Sovereign intervention, there would be no more Jews and our Jesus!  Hitler managed to kill 6 million Jews. Today they are blamed for just about every wrong in the world by anti-Semites! Because they are God's chosen people, Satan despises them.

Why is the king so angry?

He was a prideful man, and would not tolerate any rebellion to his commands. He gave the order and expected everyone to obey without exception, demanding worship, (after previously acknowledging God!)

What is his Motivation to have people bow to the statue?

Pride and insecurity, giving him a sense of power and absolute control and the desire to be like God...to be worshiped as divine.  (We all have a fallen nature and a propensity in our flesh to want to be in control...which as believers we surrender regularly to our Lord, Who is "the Blessed Controller of ALL things"...Sovereign.)

That was the ruse Satan used in the Garden of Eden...."if you eat of the tree YOU WILL BE LIKE GOD".  It continues today, in some cults who believe their works will elevate them to the status of gods. One prominent cult says "As man is, God was and as God is, man shall become" and is achieved through obeying their church laws, endowments, and temple ordinances ending with each "god" having his own planet populated through the many wives "sealed" to him "for time and eternity" in their temple marriage ceremony.

Q1. (Daniel 3:8-15) Why do the Jews’ fellow government officials report them to Nebuchadnezzar? Why is the king so angry? What is his motivation to have people bow to the statue?

According to the notes, the King may have put this statue and command in place to solidify his rule in his great empire- whence it was expected all his officials in the land attend the ceremony, possibly as a test of loyalty. The King's pride was at stake (from the notes). So when the king found out that not all the officials in the land complied with his orders, he became angry.

Q1. (Daniel 3:8-15) Why do the Jews’ fellow government officials report them to Nebuchadnezzar? Why is the king so angry? What is his motivation to have people bow to the statue?

Jealousy was the main factor – Daniel and his three friends had been allocated lofty positions by the king and their other Jewish friends disliked this. Therefore they snitched on Daniel’s companions

The insubordination was the cause of King Nebuchadnezzar fury and rage.

King Nebuchadnezzar’s intention was to shift the attention of the Jews’ from their God, the God of Israel. The huge statue on the plain of Dura basically represented the kings continued rebellion against Israel’s one God.

Q1. (Daniel 3:8-15) Why do the Jews’ fellow government officials report them to Nebuchadnezzar? Why is the king so angry? What is his motivation to have people bow to the statue?

1.The officials were jealous of the Jews youth ,as they were in a higher position as officials

,

The King considered it a matter of pride that the people /officials and all the palace people bow to the statue the king constructed .Then the king  heard the tale bearers message / the news ,that the youth did  not worship the golden statue  but continued to pray to Yahweh

2.When the king  heard this news that the youths were absent at worship , he considered  it as an act of disobedience . The king became angry. He saw his decree   as non-negotiable, an act of loyalty. He did not  care whether or not this was against the Jews' religion. The were to submit or pay the consequences.(punished) At least he gave them a second chance.

3.The motivation to make the statue was an act of superiority and control ,as sovereign above all the people and may be the God of Daniel ,The king's pride was evident ,,

They were reported to Nebuchadnezzar because the king made a decree that when everyone hear the musical instruments they are to fall down and worship the golden image. The king was angry because the Hebrew boys disobeyed the king decree by not worshipping their golden image. If they don't worship his god that he set up they will be thrown in the burning fiery furnace.

1. They (Shadrach, Mesha ch, and Abednego) were reported because they failed to follow the the kings command to bow down to the golden statue. 2. The king is angry because they were disobedient to his command. King Nebuchadnezzar is a narcissist who wants total control over all the people in his land. Having everyone bow down to the golden idol would mean everyone is submissive to him. He likes power and control.

Q1. (Daniel 3:8-15) Why do the Jews’ fellow government officials report them to Nebuchadnezzar?

The government officials reported Daniel out of jealousy, envy, and greed.  Here was this foreigner serving in such a high position, in their eyes it just wasn't right.  After all, they were born in Babylon and they thought that that position was for them.  Another problem that they were dealing with was Daniel's worship to the LORD.  He was living in a heathen land that worshiped many gods.  With their greed of position, wealth and the kings favor in mind they knew that if they could manipulate the king into total obedience to him and king worship they would have Daniel and his companions' head on the platter.

Why is the king so angry?

The kings' pride was at stake.  "What! Somebody would dare not bow down to my image!"  Put them into the furnace.  The kings' counselors knew exactly how to play the king and their game was winning out.

What is his motivation to have people bow to the statue?

Once again the kings' pride was on the line.  How could he rule over a people that had a faction that refused to show obeisance to the king? The three showed total disobedience to the king by not bowing before the statue but displayed obedience to the LORD by not worshiping another god.

The Jews government officials report because there are people from their own country needing the jobs that have been given to Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, similar to how Americans feel when foreigners get jobs here.

Nebuchadnezzar is very angry with the 4 Jews because they refuse to bow down to is statue, He probably feels like they owe it to him since he has given them such prestigious jobs.

Nebuchadnezzar wants to rule over the people in his Kingdom and needs the Jews to do this also so everyone will see that he is truly the one in Charge.

Why do the Jews' fellow government officials report them to Nebuchadnezzar?

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego have been set over the affairs of Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar. They did not regard the
king nor serve his gods. They also did not worship the golden image which the king had set up.

Why is the king so angry?

They did not serve the kings gods, nor worship the golden image which the king has set up.

What is his motivation to have people bow to the statue?

If the people do not bow down to the golden image, they will be cast into a burning fiery furnace.

Q1. (Daniel 3:8-15) Why do the Jews’ fellow government officials report them to Nebuchadnezzar? Why is the king so angry? What is his motivation to have people bow to the statue?

It's mainly jealousy. These foreigners have been raised above a lot of folks who are older and, in their minds, wiser and more deserving of the positions they have. They couldn't get ahead of them by honest means so they found a way to discredit them and have them moved out of the way.

Because he is a very powerful and prideful man. That's why he built the statue in the first place. He hasn't learned the lesson Daniel tried to teach him about the sovereignty of God over all kingdoms and people yet.

It is to show that they are obedient to him over everyone else including God. It's as if he believes that he is at least equal with God and wants everyone to know/acknowledge it.

Q1. (Daniel 3:8-15)

Why do the Jews' fellow government officials report them to Nebuchadnezzar?

Why is the king so angry?

What is his motivation to have people bow to the statue?

These government officials despised the Jewish captives who had been promoted to higher positions of authority in the government. They were jealous of foreigners getting better positions than the local, loyal citizens. The king is angry because these Jews disobeyed a direct command he had issued. He could and would not allow this disobedience in his kingdom. The motivation for his command was for his subjects to show their loyalty to him. It could also have been to solidify control over the diverse elements of his empire.

Why do the Jews’ fellow government officials report them to Nebuchadnezzar?

Their fellow officials were Babylonians and the Jewish men were different.  They were probably Jealous  of the Jewish men and their wisdom.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were selective Jews deported from Jerusalem.  They had been trained to serve the royal court of king Nebuchadnezzar.  It was Daniel who recommended them to the king to set his companions over the affairs of the province of Babylon.

Dan 2:49  Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

They are supposed to serve and be loyal to king Nebuchadnezzar as any other officials of Babylon.

The king was angry because those three Jews had defied his order.  In the time of monarchy ruling, it was not acceptable that officials of the royal court disobey to the king order.  This always incurs the death penalty.

By ordering people to bow and worship the statue that the king had erected would assure people's loyalty and submission to the king authority.  This was the motivation of king Nebuchadnezzar.

Q1. (Daniel 3:8-15) Why do the Jews’ fellow government officials report them to Nebuchadnezzar? Why is the king so angry? What is his motivation to have people bow to the statue?

In Daniel 3:8-15, the Jewish fellow government officials report Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to the king of Babylon because they do not bow to the idol of gold, they most likely hate the Jews. They are envious because Jew's rule over them instead of their fellow country men.

The king gets angry because everyone and nations of people are to fall down and worship the idol of gold he has created. Shadrach, Meshrach and Abednego in their defiance to obey the kings command have indeed infuriated the king and their disrespect of his authority and power.

The kings motivation in having the people bow down and worship his golden image is to prove to them that he is their king and they are to worship him as their god.
