SoiKosum
(Daniel 3:16-18) How do the Jews answer Nebuchadnezzar? What is their attitude? How do they witness about their God? Do they face death with resignation or defiance? Characterize their faith. The Jews' response to the king isn't very respectful, they flatly refuse to comply. Their reply was one of defiance - Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, 'O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.'" (Daniel 3:1618) Their faith can be characterised as follows: 1. Faith in God's delivering power. They state, "Our God is able to deliver us." Yahweh is the allpowerful God. Nothing is beyond his power or intervention. Nothing! 2. Faith in God's ultimate plan. "Even if he doesn't deliver us, we still won't bow before your image." If God doesn't deliver, he hasn't forgotten. Things don't have to end up the way we think they should. God knows better. As Job declares, "Though he slay me, yet will I trust him" (Job 13:15, KJV).

Instead of flattering the king, they flatly refuse to comply….NO POWER CAN COMPETE WITH THE JEALOUS GOD (Exodus 20:3-5) FAITH IS NON NEGOTIABLE, BRING IT ON! JanMary
Q2. (Daniel 3:16-18) How do the Jews answer Nebuchadnezzar? They flatly refused without making nice, which enraged the King. What is their attitude? One of faith and trust. "Our God is able to deliver us, but if not, we will still not bow down to the image" They were confident in His plan for them, whatever He chose to do. How do they witness about their God? They told Nebuchadnezzar that their God is all powerful, even in a fiery furnace. They acknowledged that God was in control, whether He chose to rescue them or not. Do they face death with resignation or defiance? With Defiance....courageously and with assurance of God's Omniscience and power. Characterize their faith. Every time I read their story I'm amazed at their stand for God, their boldness and courage, their trust and faith. They exemplify the meaning of "Sold out for God". What stunning examples of how I hope and pray we would all stand in crises.
Clarence
Q2. (Daniel 3:16-18) How do the Jews answer Nebuchadnezzar? What is their attitude? How do they witness about their God? Do they face death with resignation or defiance? Characterize their faith. The three men tell the king that worshiping foreign gods or an image is out of the question for them. They also state that God is able to save them, however if he does not they want to remain faithful to their God, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Daniel 3: 16-18). The servants of God were defiant before the king, they were resolute that the true God would show his faithfulness to them and honour their trust in Him. The men were prepared to die for their God, if that what it took.

charisbarak
They refused him. Strength to worship none but God. He alone is worthy of worship. They said God could save them, but if He didn't, they still wouldn't worship the king. Their faith had feet. They trusted their very lives to God. Santhana David
Q2. (Daniel 3:16-18) How do the Jews answer Nebuchadnezzar? What is their attitude? How do they witness about their God? Do they face death with resignation or defiance? Characterize their faith. Because Daniel had exerted great moral and spirituality on his companions, their compromise with foreign gods was impossible. They did not dignify the king’s question with a defense for not bowing down to the statue. They agreed to be put into the furnace knowing their God would save them. By saying even if their God does not save them they emphasized their defiance. Their faith was unshakable – no exceptions to the king’s order. Even at that point their minds raced to the scriptures they learned from the Book of Exodus (20:3~4) “Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.”

The Jews dare not disobey their God. They had a choice to fear man or fear God, but they chose to fear God as they trusted in Gods deliverance plan and eternal plan for them. They dare to face death with defiance. They chose to serve God even when things are difficult, even if it means death.
Delivered
Q2. (Daniel 3:16-18) How do the Jews answer Nebuchadnezzar? They answered the king in that of "FAITH" Q3. What is their attitude? Their attitude was that which reflexes confidence in the God they serve no matter what the outcome may bring, these men did not despise God's words that brought the wrath of the LORD upon His people. Q4. How do they witness about their God? They let their hearts witness to the king that their trust was in the Lord, the God of Israel, thereby, they would not turn from Him to worship the image of gold, nor the gods the king worshiped. Q5. Do they face death with resignation or defiance? They faced an outcome they did not know in that of "resignation". They knew there is no higher power but that of God, and they were ready to submit to their fate no matter what the outcome, for they knew the God they served was able to rescue them, but even if he does not, they were "RESIGNED" to remain faithful. They didn't have any resignation or defiance, they instead witness about God. They had no doubt God will deliver them from the fiery furnace. The Jews believed in God fully and had no doubt. Aleezah
1. The Hebrew boys obey their God (Shema) and do not bow down to the golden statue. 2. They are resolute in their decision (if God be for you, who can be against you). 3.They stood their ground knowing that their God would not allow them to burn based on the Scripture stated in Isaiah 43:2, "When though passest through waters, I will be with thee; and through rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when though walkest through the fire, though shalt not be burned; nether shall the flame kindle upon thee." 4. The Hebrew boys faced death with resignation. They were willing to completely honor their God. 5. Their faith was unshakable. They had "mustard seed" faith. HarveyDunn
Q2. (Daniel 3:16-18) How do the Jews answer Nebuchadnezzar? Outrightly and frankly. There was no beating around the bush about their disobedience. They were bound to their faith and a decree and a statue was not going to cause them to sin. What is their attitude? Their attitude was without question one that was grounded in their faith. How do they witness about their God? They have unwavering faith in God that He will deliver them out of any situation as long as their are obedient to Him. Do they face death with resignation or defiance? They are resolute in their actions; they are resigned to the fact that whatever situation they are facing....God is able. They are defiant because God's commandant instructed them not to bow or worship any other god other than He. Characterize their faith Their faith was exemplary. There was left no doubt who their god was, what their god expected and that God would show up on the scene on their behalf when needed. That is confidence! cjenkins1388
The Jews answer Nebuchadnezzar confidently that they will not bow down to a statue, and that their God will save them from anything put upon them. Even if it means death because they know that Gods Will is best. Their attitude is confidence in their Faith so there is no need to argue about it..Bring it On. These Men have such a strong Faith they face whatever they are sentenced too is better than bowing down as commanded. Because of this Faith it clearly lets everyone in the Kingdom know about their God which they may have not known before.

jr4624
Q2. (Daniel 3:16-18) How do the Jews answer Nebuchadnezzar? What is their attitude? How do they witness about their God? Do they face death with resignation or defiance? Characterize their faith. I would say they answered very straightforwardly and matter-of-factly. They simply said: "Yes, it's true. Our God does not allow us to bow to any graven image or worship anyone but Him. We don't need to justify ourselves to you. That's just how it is." I would imagine they were defiant, but trying to remain respectful at the same time, as was their character. They tell the king that they must obey God rather than him, because God is King over every king, country or person that's ever been in the world, is in the world or ever will be in the world. They showed by their words and actions that they believed God and trusted Him. They said they wouldn't do what He forbade them to do whether He chose to save them or not. Defiance, fueled by their strong faith. Their faith was so strong that they chose to obey God in the face of horrific punishment. They knew He could save them and trusted His motives and His plan enough that they went ahead knowing that if He didn't save them His holiness and knowledge and plan and wisdom guaranteed that He was doing the right thing. Blublack
How do the Jews answer the king? The King required that all persons bow/fall down and worship a huge image of gold which he commanded to be built or be killed. This act of obeisance, if performed, would result in the breaking of two commandments viz Firstly, the second commandment -Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image nor worship and serve any graven image and consequently the first and greatest commandment, Thou shall have no other gods before me would also be broken. There is absolutely no situation or conditions under which the Jews could countenance such and act. Thus in response to the King's question they made no attempt to dissimulate. They respectfully and unequivocally stated that they could not obey such a request and were willing tosuffer the consequences knowing that in so doing God would be their support. What is their attitude? In the face of the King's wrath, the Jews were calm and ready to accept the consequences of the heavenly reward for their obedience to Gods word and death for non compliance with the King's directive. This calmness was the result of inner peace born of faith that they were doing what they knew to be right in the sight of God. How do they witness about God? God is able. They expressed absolute confidence in Gods ability to deliver them from the hand of the King. Because no one knows the mind of God they tempered their statements accepting that his will could be their death. They were definite though, that God's will could not be any act that would result in the breaking any of His commandments. How do they face death; resignation or defiance? I would say they accepted that death will come when it is God's will. If we think about Job. God gave satan leave to do anything but kill his servant Job, so death is only as God wills. Resignation implies a sense of defeat that I do not get in this exchange while defiance suggests railing against the inevitable. There was no defeat and no railing but calm acceptance that this is Gods will and we are following his word so whatever the outcome all is well and God's will triumphs. Characterize their faith. They were steadfast, they were resolute. Thy had no doubt that God was there for them and with them. As with Job we see that steadfast faith in the face of adversity was well founded and rewarded as a demonstration to the unbelievers. d consequently the first and greatest commandment -
hanks
Q2. (Daniel 3:16-18) How do the Jews answer Nebuchadnezzar? What is their attitude? How do they witness about their God? Do they face death with resignation or defiance? Characterize their faith. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, boldly answered Nebuchadnezzar that they refuse to worship his gods or bow to his golden idol. They must have known that their response would not please him, and would most probably land them in serious trouble; perhaps even death. Yet they were not afraid to answer the king truthfully. This showed their absolute confidence in God, even stating that the God they worship can save them from the king and his flaming furnace. But even if He does not they will still not worship his gods or the gold statue. They knew that God demanded implicit obedience and had forbidden them to worship any other gods or idols. Obeying God was more important than life to these three, so if God chose not to deliver them, they would still obey Him. They faced death fully trusting in the LORD - for obeying Him was of the utmost importance to them. This demonstrated their unconditional faith in whatever God’s will was for their lives.
