Clelie
The image of the man Daniel saw was so overwhelming that he fell to the ground with fear .Those who did not see the vision was equally stricken with fear. He was so fearful that his physical strength left him. Mentally he was overcome with anguish and spiritually he was drained . Spiritual battle is an effort which though unseen yet can make us feel tired in our inner being because it is a warfare with a power that drain us of inner strength . Krissi
The story of Daniel's exhaustion brought my mind to the disciples of Jesus who were sent out to preach and heal in pairs. Were they exhausted afterward? I know Paul was exhausted, at times, but were the disciples exhausted or exhilarated these men, strengthening them. Watchman Nee wrote something I recently read about a weak inner spirit or weak spirit in their inner man. The idea is that the Holy Spirit enters into us and strengthens us from the inside out, that is, from our inner man to our outer man. Let me look for the reference ... here it is: https://www.ministrysamples.org/excerpts/THE-STRENGTHENING-OF-THE-HOLY-SPIRIT-1.HTML There are several bible verses about the spirit strengthening us, too. I wonder if we feel weak because we need to pray more -- we are not weak because we prayed too much! We could also be weak because we don't care for our bodies correctly. In this story, Daniel was exhausted from not eating. His predicament reminds me of Elijah running away from Jezebel. After miles of running, Elijah collapsed under a bush and was physically revived by an angel who brought him food. Thus, the physical body can and does impact how the spiritual and emotional person feels. Being exhausted, dehydrated and famished is not a good condition to receive a revelation! I have never had a vision so don't know what it feels like to be overwhelmed by God in that way.
