Q2. Why do you think God’s glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire? What happens when people willfully disobey God and his laws? Why can’t God’s holiness coexist with sin?

As people became aware of God's glory they need to do something, some words in which to describe this awesome Glory. They could think of no better way off described mean this a glory then by a consuming fire and by judgement.

Usually there is some consequence who disobeying  God. However, the consequence may not be readily seen. From an outside look it would appear often of that there are no consequences but if we look at the innards of the persons being there will be consequences.

God is perfect and holy and cannot look upon sin. Therefore it is impossible for God to deal with sin except through the auspices of Jesus Christ Our Lord who died and was resurrected so that sin could be defeated.

Q2. Why do you think God’s glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire? What happens when people willfully disobey God and his laws? Why can’t God’s holiness coexist with sin?

Judgement and consuming fire from God's glory is shown to human beings because we are no longer one with God due to our disobedience - original sin, from the fall of Adam - falling short of the glory of God. The glory of God was the original environment in which mankind lived, the Garden of Eden. The Garden had enclosed, or fenced us in, to God's glory and love. The glory of God is the essence of all that he is, and holiness is part of God's essence. Because he is holy, we are separated from him when we sin. Holiness is the complete absence of sin. Sin is an abomination to God. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God's command not to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, the 1st sin of mankind was committed. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ became the bridge to bring all human beings who repent and call him Lord and Savior back into acceptance and relationship with God.

InQ2. Why do you think God’s glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire? What happens when people willfully disobey God and his laws? Why can’t God’s holiness coexist with sin?

1. God is Omnipotent and Sovereign...all powerful, and fire is a powerful agent of both destruction and cleansing. Fire produces ash...the final end of whatever is burned. In Lev. 10:2 Aarons sons offered "unholy fire" in their censors and God struck them dead. God offers the only Holy Fire...the ultimate which was at the Cross when sin was consumed.

In the law given to Moses, the blood sacrifice for sin was always burned in fire, signifying the destruction or removal of the sin. In scripture God is described as a consuming fire. He cannot tolerate sin. (Deut 4:24) Elijah after building the altar in the contest between the living God and the god of Baal, Fire came down from Heaven and burned not only the offering, but the rocks and dried up the water around the altar, whereas the god of Baal failed to show up...(nonexistent, made by man). Our Awesome God displayed His displeasure for the Baal worshippers, and His pleasure and acceptance of Elijah's sacrifice through total destruction! In Isa 9:18 Wickedness burns like a fire....God fights wicked "fire" with His Holy awesome Fire. Fire cleanses as well as destroys. It's a severe and terrifying consequence of the violation of His law. Before the law was given, when He cut covenant with Abram, He ratified the covenant with a visual fire pot passing between the halved animal. Something Abram never forgot.

In Malachi 3:2 He is described as like a Refiner's fire and like fuller's soap....cleansing and refining the impurities from priests, like gold and silver are refined. His glory is always displayed in Holy fire.....whether in revelation of Himself as with Moses, in judgement, or in cleansing from sin.

2. Willful disobedience always has painful consequences! He's also merciful, and gives a "long leash" allowing time for repentance.

3. God is a Just God so sin must be judged.

God is a jealous God and will not share his glory. He show his anger when there is disobedience and his holiness is disrespected. His holiness is part of his nature that separate him from a sinful man. Sin is offense to his holiness. This is the reason for being a consuming fire and he show his wrath against those who oppose him and willingly turn from his love and grace and believe. Thank God for his love to send Jesus to make us righteous.

God is Holy.  Holy and Sin cannot co-exist in the same way that light and dark cannot co-exist.  Our sovereign God demands our righteousness.

Where sin exists there will be judgement.  The judgement of God is the consuming fire of hell.

Only belief in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who offered himself as the ultimate sacrifice (payment of our sins) will wash away our sin, thus now imparting His righteousness onto us.

This faith now will give us the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who leads us into truth, so we can no longer live in willful sin.  We lose our desire to sin and now desire to draw close to God.

God's glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire because of His holiness and His presence will burns up anything unholy. All those who provoke God to anger comes against God's wrath and will eventually be consumed and destroyed. We can't look upon God's glory and live. In Exodus 3:2-6, fire is a manifestation of God Himself because Moses turned away, he was afraid to look at God. When God make His judgment, it will consume everything in His path.
When people willfully disobey God and His laws, God will come and set everything straight with a decisive judgment. And, considerinGod is a consuming fire I wouldn't want to be that person who comes against God's wrath.
God's holiness can't coexist with sin because He is Holy, perfect and pure.

God is the Omnipotent.  He is The Alpha,The Omega.  He alone possesses and controls everything, therefore His Glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire.   He is the only one who should pass judgment on others.  He rules the world  ‘upon the wicked he shall rain down snares, fire and brimstone and horrible tempests.’ Psalm 11:6

God brings his wrath down on those who willfully disobey and do not keep his laws.  We saw what he did to the Israelites, his chosen people, in the desert when they disobeyed Him.  Forty years they wandered in the desert.

God abhors sin.  He sacrificed His son on the cross so that our sins might be forgiven.  His holiness cannot coexist with sin.  He made it possible for us to confess our sins and receive His forgiveness. Proverbs 28:13 People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.

Q2.
Why do you think God's glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire?
What happens when people willfully disobey God and His laws?
Why can't God's Holiness coexist with sin?

We read in Deuteronomy 4:24: “For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God”.
As a consuming fire, God purifies what is precious and destroys what is worthless.
It is because of His holiness, that God is a consuming fire, and it will be in our interest to serve Him with reverence and godly fear.
Initially we might be terrified to read this, but we must also remember God is Light, God is Love, and God is Life.
However, God is a consuming fire only to those who refuse to listen and obey Him, and especially if we continue and persist in disobeying His law despite His love.
We need to remember that God takes sin seriously, and being a just God, He is forced to react to our inequity, and He will pass judgment.
We also read that He is a jealous God – teaching us that He demands righteousness and obedience from His people.

When we, as Believers, willfully disobey God and His laws, we become separated and alienated from our Heavenly Father.
We no longer have fellowship with Him, and because of this separation we no longer radiate His glory.

We read in Psalm 99:9b: “… for the LORD our God is holy”.
This holiness of God is God’s infinite perfect goodness, a goodness which is the exact opposite of all evil.
So much so that His light and any evil darkness cannot be seen at the same time.
In other words, His Holiness and sin cannot coexist.
He is totally against sin because of who He is, and this reaction against sin is compared to a consuming fire.
God, being Holiness itself cannot put up with anything that is unholy.

Q2. Why do you think God's glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire?

I think it’s basically because as God does not favour anyone who oppose Him and therefore portrayed as fire which absolutely consumes and destroys anyone or anything in His path, as mentioned in Duet 9:3.

What happens when people willfully disobey God and his laws?

Much earlier in Duet 4:23~24, Moses is found warning the Israelites against idolatry. He goes on to say that God is a “jealous God” and most definitely will not compromise even a small portion of His glory to insignificant deities, because idolatry truly provokes Him and He will not condone anything which disrespects His supreme holiness.

Why can't God's holiness coexist with sin?

Can a rich king and a poor beggar coexist in a small room? What is man who cannot even define sin as only God can define what sin actually is. Following the will of God is about us conforming God’s laws and not God conforming to our standards. This is so because only God can save us from sin. Man’s desire for freedom from God is the mark of sin and holiness is the absence of sin. That being said how can God’s holiness coexist with sin?

Let me answer the last question first. There must be someone and some thing and some where in this world or beyond, that is pure, holy, unblemished, someone , somewhere that would allows to know that we can choose to be like Him or be opposite. God is that one person and heaven is that place where we can choose to be as our final and eternal home or rest, away from sin. God's glory  is His way of confirming His presence, confirming His responsibility for whatever is happening. Our response to His glory either way results in God's judgement; either we  take positive direction from this or face whatever God decides at that point in time.

We must remember that God is not just everywhere but every time and He knows whose name would not appear in the book of life, even though mankind cannot discern that. God have the  decision to give you up to your depravity, use you to make a point to others.

Q2 Why do you think God's glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire? What happens when people willfully disobey God and his laws? Why can't God's holiness coexist with sin?

1. People complain and grumble against God. It is due to disobedience. We must love the Lord God with our whole heart and soul.

2. God sends judgement and punishment. He lets us know that he will not accept disobedience.

3. We have to be holy or be in sin. They cannot mix together. We either love God or the devil.

Q2. Why do you think God's glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire?

Judgment to me is the conquest over wrong, Israel was saved when God’s judgment fell on the Egyptians, while the Cross depicts God’s righteous judgment over sin; God’s glory, His judgment over sin will be shown at the end of time, when Christ returns to judge the Nations and His enemies.

Q3. What happens when people willfully disobey God and his laws?

God shows mercy unto them that love Him, and keep his commandments, however, for those who “WILLFULLY” walk in disobedience, those who rebel against God, are in danger of the judgment.

Gods glory in Judgment and also God is a consuming fire.

- Gods holiness is brilliant shining light  but sin comes from Devil

Q2. Why do you think God’s glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire? God heard the Israelites grumbling against him and he wanted the Israelites to know his presence is nothing to be trifled with, so he appears and brings the matter to a halt with a decisive judgment, like in the old Testament warnings: "For our God is a consuming fire".

What happens when people willfully disobey God and his laws? God will come and set everything straight with a decisive judgment. If, you are a believer, you know that God is a jealous God.

Why can’t God’s holiness coexist with sin? Following the will of God is totally submitting to his way. God will save us from sin, so by being with holiness that is the absence of sin.

Q2. Why do you think God's glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire? What happens when people willfully disobey God and his laws? Why can't God's holiness coexist with sin?

Because that is how he gets His people’s attention by showing forth His power. It reveals the majesty of God.  He is God Almighty and people need to fear the Lord.

People complain, men dispute, but finally God himself appears and brings the matter to a halt with a decisive judgment.

Because God is a Holy God and holiness and sin cannot exist together – Our God is a consuming fire.

God's glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire because its shows God's holy presence. It is God's way of getting our attention.  If you willfully disobey God and his laws then he will bring judgment upon you. God holiness cannot coexist with sin because God is a Holy God.

God's glory is usually associated with judgment and a consuming fire. This is because he usually appears to people who forgot who he is and fail to worship and praise him. Thus he would appear to be a consuming fire that does consume everything.

God can never co-exist with sin. Sin is indeed a complete disobedience to God and his law.

Why do you think God’s glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire?

Alistair Begg said it best "God's mercy is relevant only because His wrath is real". God will receive the glory, even in judgement.

What happens when people willfully disobey God and his laws?

When people willfully disobey God they are under judgment. In hell, people are aware of God BUT separated from God's glory. This is sever conscious torment.

Why can’t God’s holiness coexist with sin?

I cannot understand God's blinding glory in the presence of murky sin. God is light and there is no darkness in Him AT ALL.

I think that God’s glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire because almost any time that God appears in the Old Testament it seems like He is judging with consuming fire. If people willfully disobey God and his laws they are sent to hell. God’s holiness cannot co-exist with sin because God is Holy and cannot be associated with sin.

God seems to have to come and make Himself know again because we forget His greatness and plan---we grumble, whine and lose sight of His will and glory.  God is a consuming fire because He made it all and can take it away just as quickly/easily.

When we willfully disobey God, His judgment comes upon us.  There are consequences for our disobedience and lack of faith.

God's holy and perfect.  Sin is the going against God and His will.  Sin leads to hell which by definition is the absence of God.  We can't serve two Gods, we cannot strive to be holy and be free to indulge in sin.  They are opposites that cannot reside together inside us.

God is a jealous God. He says Thou shall not worship any other Gods besides me.When you willfully disobey God and his laws in Deuteronomy 2: 23 So be careful not to break the covenant the Lord your God has made with you. Do not make idols of any shape or form, for the Lord your God has forbidden this. 24 The Lord your God is a devouring fire; he is a jealous God.

God is perfectly pure and Holy, He can not co-exist with evil or sin

Q2. Why do you think God’s glory is associated with judgment and consuming fire? What happens when people willfully disobey God and his laws? Why can’t God’s holiness coexist with sin?

the glory of God is an awesome thing. The glory of God was seen on Mount Sinai as fire and smoke which would billow from a furnace. This sounds very much like a volcano, which shows in full force the power of God in nature. The Judgment of God can come suddenly and quickly as often does the volcano. The judgement of Jesus came quickly when he overturned the tables of the money-changers. God I cannot coexist with sin because sin is Darkness and the glory of God is little light. These two are such opposites that they cannot abide together. When people sin the glory of God must in response shine forth as a consuming fire and the sun will be swept away.
