(Isaiah 11:1-2; 42:1; 61:1-2) What promises does God make through Isaiah the prophet concerning the Holy Spirit and the Messiah? How were these fulfilled? Lord God tells Isaiah that He would put His Holy Spirit upon Jesus so that he could "bring justice to the nations." The fulfillment of these promises are found in the ministry of Jesus-- bring help to the poor, free the prisoners, comfort those who mourn. Celia P
What promises does God make through Isaiah the prophet concerning the Holy Spirit and the Messiah? The Messiah will come with good news to comfort us, to set us free. The Holy Spirit will be upon Him. The Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel and power, knowledge and fear of the Lord. The Massiah will bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, and open the prison to those who are bound. He will proclaim the year of the LORD's favor, and the day of vengeance of our Our Father and He will comfort all who mourn."How were these fulfilled? Our Father confirmed that Jesus was the Messiah in Isaiahs prophecy when Jesus rose from the water after John the Baptist baptised Him. Matthew 3:13-17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Jesus preached the Good News of Our Fathers Kingdom. He told us the truth about this world and the ruler of this world. Jesus set us free from this world. Jesus was crucified, buried, and then resurrected, not even death could hold Him. When He ascended back the Our Father, Our Father graciously sent us His Spirit to dwell within us, to comfort us, to bring to our remembrance all that Jesus said and taught. The Holy Spirit gives us wisdom, understanding, counsel and power, knowledge and fear of the Lord. That same Spirit that was upon Jesus now lives in us, who received the gift of The Holy Spirit. We are no longer slaves to this world, we have been adopted, as children of the Most High, our Kingdom is not of this world. We are free indeed. Love and Blessings to you all. Nana Karlsson
Through the prophecy of Isaiah God promised the coming of the Messiah, Jesus as a decendant of Jesse upon whom the Spirit of God will rest. He will be empowered by the Spirit of God through wisdom, knowledge, understanding, counseling and the fear of the Lord to judge the nations. The prophecy was fulfilled when Jesus came down from Heaven and through His Ministry, His Death and Resurrection the good news was preached to the people, the blind saw, the sick was healed, liberty was proclaimed to the captives ,the opening of prisons to those who were bond, hearts of the broken hearted was mended and proclaiming th e year of the Lord`s favour. Krissi
To answer your question in the context of the Holy Spirit ... 1. Isaiah writes that the coming messiah will have the Holy Spirit on him: "God's Spirit will rest on him." I assume that this means that Jesus will have a much greater measure -- infinite? -- of the Holy Spirit than others in the Old Testament, though I don't see this in the text. 2. Yes, of course it was fulfilled. Jesus did experience the power of the Holy Spirit during his time on earth.

Katy
Q3. God promises through Isaiah that from the root of Jesse a shoot would come, that shoot was Jesus through the line of David, Jesse’s son. God also promises that the Spirit of the Lord would rest on Him and He would impart wisdom, understanding, counsel, power , knowledge and fear of the Lord. Jesus is referred to as the Suffering Servant in Isaiah 53, and God promises once again that He will put His Spirit on Him, and that He would bring justice to the nations. Isaiah also refers to the Anointed Messiah who would also have the Spirit of the Lord upon Him so He can bring good news to the poor , bind up the broken hearted, He would proclaim liberty to the captives, free those who are bound, to warn people about the day of vengeance, but also tell of His mercy and forgiveness to those who turn to Him for His forgiveness, Jesus would bring comfort to those who mourn. These prophecies were fulfilled in the life and ministry of Jesus. In Luke 4v21 Jesus says that the prophecy in Isaiah 61v1-2 was being fulfilled in their hearing. Dove81
Q3. (Isaiah 11:1-2; 42:1; 61:1-2) What promises does God make through Isaiah the prophet concerning the Holy Spirit and the Messiah? God promises that though David’s lineage will be cut down, a shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse. From his roots a Branch will bare fruit. He will be The Messiah and the Spirit of the LORD GOD will rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom, the Spirit of understanding, the Spirit of counsel, the Spirit of power, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. How were these fulfilled? This where fulfilled in Luke 4:16 when Yahshua read from the scroll what Isaiah had written (Isaiah 61:1-2), The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. Niyonka16
Q3. (Isaiah 11:1-2; 42:1; 61:1-2) What promises does God make through Isaiah the prophet concerning the Holy Spirit and the Messiah? ANSWER: Israel was in a state of deep moral confusion. God’s people were pretending to honor God with their lips but their hearts were far from God. The prophet Isaiah played an important role in God's plan; He foretold the Messiah's coming and brought hope to His people during a challenging time. This promise of hope is not only for the nation of Israel, but also for all of us. The main message Isaiah is giving from God, is that God is both the Judge and the Savior. This means that God has a plan to make all things right in the end, and that a necessary part of that process is declaring what is not yet right. This is the message of Isaiah the prophet. The judgment of God declares what is broken; the promise of God is to heal. Isaiah calls on the nations to see the sovereignty of God. He is the beginning and the end, and everything is always under His control. He commands Israel to not give in to fear because God promises that He is with them. He says He will strengthen and help them and uphold them with His righteous right hand. How were these fulfilled? ANSWER: The book of Isaiah comes to an end with a grand vision of the fulfillment of all God's covenant promises. Through the suffering servant king, God creates a covenant family with all nations, who are awaiting the hope of a renewed creation and the coming of God's Kingdom here on Earth as it is in Heaven. Jesus is said to fulfill this prophecy through His death on the cross.
