Q3. Giving an Account

Recommended Posts

I believe that non-christians like to live as they please. They don't believe in being accountable in a Christly sense of way.

Christians think that it is hard to have accountibility. That when they are accountable, they will have to work hard to be accountable. To be accountable means that there are people (co-workers, friends, family, church members) who will help us to stay on the road that God has laid before us. As a result, we will be able to live for God, not having to worry about temptations that come our way. We also will have people who won't be afraid to keep us accountable and help us step by step.

:( As a Christian,I am not proud of my past, but there are times I can use my past as a testimony to help someone who may be going through the same circumstances I came out of.We understand the problems they are faceing and how they feel trapped. We can show them the way out is through Jesus.Show them love and understanding.

~~I know there is a coming judgment. The end of the world is so near.We must be watchmen or women, ready to serve God,being self controlled, clear minded, being well balanced in living for Jesus Christ.Amen

Why don't non-Christians like the idea of giving an account of their actions? Why don't we Christians like it? What should the realization that we must give an account of our actions inspire in us? With what attitude should we live as a result?

Sinners do not like the idea of accountability because they have never willingly given their lives to the Lord. They are their own master and they gaurd their independence. They are not Christians for that very reason. When confronted with salvation they do not like the idea that they would come under the Lordship of Christ.

Christians must constantly fight the sin nature which calls them to do their own thing. Submission is hard for many because they are proud and feel they know what is best for themselves. Many even go so far as to twist the Scripture to their own ways of thinking. One must be careful that we do not beome a law unto ourselves.

Accountability is something that should inspire in us a desire to be obedient. If we have the right perspective about our Lord, then we understand that we do not belong to ourselves but we totally belong to Him.

We are to walk carefully in this life and do our best to have a submissive attitude toward the things of the Lord. The more we submit the more we will be like Him.

Most people feel real shame at some of the things they have to give accounting for. That uncomfortable feeling frightens them. They don't want to see themselves as they really are. Christians have that problem too. Some Christians just don't go through self-evaluation very well. They still resist the fact that they may have wrong motives. I would rather give an accounting right now here on earth before the final accounting. There is something we can do about it right now. 1 Corinthians 11:31 "If we judged ourselves truly, we should not be judged." The judgement has already started. The Lord is always pointing out to me my wrong attitudes and motives. He also confirms what I am doing right. I want to resolve these things right here and now. We should allow the Lord to see us as we really are. I grow the more I am aware of how wrong I've been. The Lord will deal with these things if you don't fight Him and acknowledge that He is right about things.

Q3. (4:5-7) Why don't non-Christians like the idea of giving an account of their actions? Why don't we Christians like it? What should the realization that we must give an account of our actions inspire in us? With what attitude should we live as a result?

Because the non-Christians know that their account of their actions will be revealed and they have shame and guilt in the life style which they sinned and did against God. We Christians don't want there to be nothing left that will stand up for good, because we know we will be held accountable and the things we did not repent from will be judged against us. We are to live our life from now on, letting each day count, living for Christ and repent and turn away from our sins and walk in the spirit, not the flesh. Knowing that Christ died for our sins and if we live accordingly, God will judge us accordingly and say "I see the blood of Jesus and your sins have been washed away".

When I was a non-Christian I didn't really think of giving an account to any body for my sins. I didn't care. I can't speak for anybody else because I never asked them this question.

As a Christian I like being accountable and having other's to talk to about my poor choises that lead to depression and what not. Because by talking to other's I am able to get it out and it doesn't grow in my Spirit and cause me to become bitter. By doing this I am enabled to receive feedback, that helps me identify the root cause of the sin and call it out, and move on, in Christ. Hallelujah. <<<This responce covers the last 2 questions of Q.3.

As for why Christian's don't like the idea of being accountable, I can only speculate from what I have heard and seen in certain Christians that I tried to have fellowship with in Christ.

I think they are affraid. They're not receiving the Word right and don't believe that which is contrary to what they want to do, so they try to disprove the Word and let fear rule them in their walk. They don't want to be corrected, because it causes them to get real and they may have to change something.

We all do not want to give accounts of our lives because when we think of it we realize that we are sinners. By giving account of our lives we should use this to help us to prepare ourselve for Christ and try to do that which we know is right.

Non-Christians do not like the idea of giving an account of their actions becuase they do not feel liable to anyone but themselves. We Christians don't like it because it means that we have sinned. The realization that we must give an account of our actions should inspire in us the desire to please God. The attitude we should live with as a result is that we are going to fail, but God is merciful enough to forgive us and let us try again.

Non-Christians and Christians alike don't like the idea of accounting for their actions. For the non-Christian: The world tries to make everyone TOLERANT of everything, TOLERANT of sin. Or society is becomming one of non-accountability -that way no one has to feel guilty. Christians don't like the idea of accounting for their actions either because we are afraid that at some point we failed at something. This accountability though should inspire us to strive for pure lives. As we are urged to do in Phil 2:12 "continue to work our your salvation with fear and trembling" This in no way takes away from the gift of eternal life that is ours in Jesus. Knowing what Jesus did and the love that we have for Him will inspire our hearts to follow his example. We won't WANT to live any other way!

They don't want to feel guilty about their sins nor do they want to have to think (give any thought) to what they are doing, let alone think that they will one day have to be accountable for them.

Because nobody wants to "pay" for their mistakes. We want everything to be buried on our past, (We're the one's who are supposed to know the difference between right and wrong and we're supposed to be the one's who who are different from the rest of the world and abstain from these sins. We don't want our sins to be exposed to anyone let alone God. (It's a scary thought.)

To live a moral life. To live in a way that pleases God. "HOLY, PURE!" With Jesus' attitude. An attitude of love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. We should hate what God hates, grieve what God grieves and love what God loves.

I think that unbelievers do not like the idea of giving an account of their actions because it forces them to focus on how they are living their lives and the consequences of their decision not to turn to Jesus. Out of mind is out of sight. There is also a belief in the present age that there are rights without obligations; a kind of socialisation of every activity so that we do not take responsibility for the results of our actions. We like the idea of a loving and forgiving God but not that He will also judge our actions. It is absolutely fundamental to the Christian message that everyone will be judged on the judgement day and we will have to account for our actions: every single one of them. Nothing will be hidden or overlooked as nothing can be hidden from God. What does that imply? We must act in accordance with the teachings of Jesus and His apostles in everything we do. Our lives should be an act of worship. We know the teachings and we must not depart from them. We will be judged by how we adhere to those standards. Our eternity with Jesus depends on the outcome. Nothing could be more important. It may be unfashionable to think in terms of hell and damnation but that does not mean that the prospect of them does not exist. They do. On that we can be certain because Jesus told us. Judgement and the promise of eternal salvation should inspire us to great diligence and obedience. Jesus wants us to be saved. He wants us to be with Him when He returns. He also wants us to be in no doubt as to the dangers of not heeding His gospel and its vital importance to how we behave and think.

:) No one, especially non-christians wants to be judged. Judgment is not a very popular subject. They want to do whatever they feel like and expect God to slap them on the hand and say, "That's alright baby, I understand."

But judgment is a reality for all people. We all will give an account for our lives spent in this earth, whether we like it or not. And if we know and uderstand this truth, it should inspire in us the fear of God and a desire to live a life that is well pleasing to Him.

Non-Christians don't like giving an account of their actions because they would have to admit that they will be judged. Christians don't like it because we have to admit that we have gone against Christ. Ownership of our actions should inspire us to do the right thing so we can be proud of our actions and know that Jesus is pleased with us. He gave so much and he's asks for so little in comparison.

Most people are focused on doing anything thing they want in a free society. Whether moral or not and most avoid the idea of judgment or accountability. In fact they get hostile over it, including some Christians. They are blind and prefer to be that way. I know Christians that deny that there is a judgment seat of Christ. Even though it is Biblically clear. Many believers do not want to be held accountable, they just want a blanket forgiveness and love with no accountability of their faith.

Accountability should inspire us to strive to be dynamic followers of Jesus Christ in word and deed. We should live with the reality that we are going to give account of our faith and strive for moral excellence in our Christian walk.

Non-Christians do not like the idea of giving an account of their actions because they want to live as they please. Christians don't like the idea, because it is scary to think of all the sins we have committed as Christians, when we know better. We should be inspired to continually live as if Jesus would come for us right now. We should have the desire to witness to others about Christ.

You and I don't know for certain if we've been born in a time time which we will see the second coming of Jesus, But that shouldn't make any difference. We keep thinking " Oh we have plenty of time to get our act together. Most non-christians are actually deceived into thinking they are doing nothing wrong,so they laugh and just party on. not realizing time is growing short.( 2 Peter 3:3 ) " First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.

A thief doesn't announce himself for all to see. When Christ comes for His church no one will know the hour or day, but we don't want to be caught unaware or found in a condition where we are not prepared , as we are longing for Him and looking for Him as we love and serve Him today.

More than ever we must make a conscious effort to draw close to God. This is what Peter implies in verse 7 .. ( 1st Peter 4:7 ) " The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray."

I believe Most Christians don't like to admitt they are doing something wrong due to pride. And also many think they can do no wrong due to the influence of a religious spirit. No one is perfect. I think David is our best example of asking God to search his heart. ( Humblenesss and humility ) Then repentence before God.

"Post-Modernism" or "New Age Philosophy" says that you are accountable only to yourself. You don't have to be accountable to anyone. So the secular world won't like the idea of giving an account of their actions. They are the law unto themselves and what they feel is right for them, is, in their terms, right.

As Christians we run the risk of becoming 'self-righteous'. There is the danger that we will feel that we are better than others. So we don't like being judged and held accountable by others. " If we have Christ on our side, who can be against us?".

That we will stand before the 'judgment seat of God' one day ought to keep us humbly obedient to Christ's commands to us. The Gospel should be our yardstick, and although still sinners, we must strive to be holy and righteous.

Our attitude should be to live as committed Christians and uphold the commands of God to us. We stray so easily from the way of Truth, but we have clear guidelines as to how we should live. We need to be in the Word daily, pray regularly, and have the 'fruits of the Spirit' in our lives to show our Christian commitment.

They feel like their in control and should do what they want. Giving an accounting would mean being judged and they don't like being judged. They don't like to think of the prospect of hell.

We don't like it because of our sin nature. It should inspire us to lead Godly righteous lives.

Our attitude should be of alertness clear minded and self control.

No-one likes knowing they have to give an account of their actions because of guilt and shame - the Adam and Eve syndrome when they sinned and hid in the Garden of Eden.

I personally would rather believe myself to be a good person than know the depths and ugliness of my sin.

To know that I am facing Judgement Day is not so bad because I am covered by Jesus' Blood.

I should be trembling with fear for every soul who does not know God and should endeavour to witness at all times.

Non-Christians don't like the idea of giving account of their actions because they don't know about the judgement which is to come. They are man pleasers rather than God pleasers. As long as they do not violate the rights of other people, they fell they are good and accepted by society. Their law is the law of the world, and their actions are made to comply with the norms of the world.

We Christians don't like it because we are aware of the terrible judgement when Christ returns. We Christians always check ourselves if our actions gave glory to God. We want to please God in everything we do being conscious of the hope that Christ will bring us to heaven to spend our eternity.

Our attitude should be to see to it that we are filled with the Holy Spirit. We should always be in tune with God through prayers and meditation of His words.

Non-Christian's don't like it because they don't want to be judged for their life style. I think they feel shame and are not good enough. To me, whin I was a sinner, I didn't want to hear anything about salvation. I thought I was enjoying life as it was. I had all the time to call on God, when I was ready. I didn't think I could really believe in someone I couldn't see and understand. I didn't really realize that there was someone that really, really, loved me. I kept looking for happiness in the world and never found it. I quit running and accepted the Lord as my Savior. Non-Christians thenk they have happiness and peace in this world by living and having worldly things. We, as Christian, are the same in a way. We think we can live both life styles and everything will be O.K. How blind we are. The realization is that we are going to be judged and it should inspire us to live according to God's will and His word. We make the choice were we will spend eternity. We are to expect, be alert, and watch for we don't know when our last second on earth will be. The Lord can come any second. We are to be about His business. We need tdo be as close to God as we can get. We need to pray continually to be in and share God's love.

It's normally only when giving an account of ones actions that the truth comes to the fore.Especially for Christians because they are more likely to have more convictions as to the will of God. Anyone who understands that sin has consequences and for those outside of Christ's body these are severe.People will try to justify their actions to look good to others instead of accepting responsibility and asking for forgiveness.

As Christians we must strive to follow Christs lead and oppose the flesh, knowing that He paid the price for us that we might share in His inheritance and come into the presence of the Father as holy saints. As mentioned in the exposition to some we may be the only bible and word of god that they may see or hear, so cloth yourself in Christ and let His light shine forth in this dimly lit world, that others too might see the way. Amen.
