annk
We must be aware of the Devil or Saran at all times. I truly believe that he is more active in our times trhan in previous eras. The verse teaches that that we must always be aware of his presence no matter where we turn, It is important that God always be in our lives. At all times we must fight Satan, but knowing that God cares and wants us to put our trust in him helps me to keep the devil a little further from me. I am not saying that I am free of Satan but that knowing right from wrong and hopefully chosing what I think is the right path along with God's guidance I am freeing myself from him. Berachah
It is important to know the enemy or our souls and to be prepared to combat him in the name of Jesus! we are not just to be aware that he exists but that he wants to devour or swallow or consume us. He wants to weaken us and catch us in a moment when he can do damage to our christian life. If we stgay close to the Lord we have nothing to fear, but if we stray and become cold spiritually we will feel the attacks of Satan against us. Kim E.
There are many who are readily rejecting the existence of any kind of spiritual kingdom whether good or evil. But the Bible indicates that all men are victims of evil invisible forces, but only believers can be victors. It is clear that peoples' intelligence is insulted by talking about the existence of the devil. But that is the problem. The devil is the god of this world. The world listens to him, but he is a liar. We must learn to recognize how these systems of the devil work and we must learn to overcome them. We all need to believe what the Scripture says about these evil forces and face our helplessness and appropriate the protection of Christ. We learn from this Scripture that the devil is wiley and he is always ready to attack us. He doesn't stop trying to find a way and a time to attack us. We don't need to minimize these attacks of the devil. He can and will bring you down, given the opportunity. It is important that we all believe the Scripture about the devil, because the Lord strips the devil of his disguises and reveals his true nature. The devils' work is to deceive and destroy, both or one or the other. When you reject the existence of the devil outright you are opening yourself up for failure on all fronts. PressThrough
Q2. (5:8) What is it important to be aware of Satan's existence? What does this verse teach us about the devil? Why is this teaching important? I believe it is important to be aware of Satan's existence, for one because Jesus told us all about him and his tactics, and for two, to be aware of him as we walk in Christ. (Do not have a blind eye to satan) satan walk's around looking for and waiting for one of God's own, to stumble, so he can go back and be a tattle tale to God. Not only that, but if satan catch's you slumbering in God, then your resistance is down and he can make it very hard for you to get up again and spread the Good News, The Gospel. It is important to know this, for it helps us choose the company we keep and our conversation's wisely.
peggysue
satan is God's enemy and is totally destructive in our lives, therefore as christians we need to be aware that he is trying very hard to destroy our christian lives and stay focused on God
heatherdills
It is important to be aware of Satan's existence because it acknowledges that we have an adversary that God came to protect us from. This verse teaches us that the devil will exploit our weaknesses. This teaching is important because we can choose to find strength in God through our weakness or to submit to those weaknesses and sin. Jenn
Although this is my first time posting, I find it interesting that this discussion has involved such little scripture. As we know, all of God's word is truth, so why are we focused more on how we feel and what we personally believe and not from God's Truth and the way it is? - Jenn -
steve.c
What is it important to be aware of Satan's existence? What does this verse teach us about the devil? Why is this teaching important? It is absolutely essential to be aware of the devil's existence. That is why we are constantly engaged in spiritual warfare; that is why we always wear the Armour of God. It may sound old fashioned but Jesus and the Apostles make it absolutely clear that the devil and his demons exist. Modernists might want to down play this as they do with various aspects of Christian morality, and the fact of judgement and hell but that does not stop the existence of the devil and the dangers he presents. This verse teaches that the devil is powerful, dangerous, a skilled hunter, deadly and ever alert. He is on the look out for any sign of weakness and for any opportunity. We must never lower our guard because that is when he will strike. Any strike could be the end of us. He could drag us back to the state of sin and certain death. He wants to win as many souls from Jesus as he can and he is pretty good at it. So we must be resolute in our faith at all times.
L. Turner
1st Peter 5:8 says that we are to be self-controlled and alert; because the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. This verse tells us plainly that the devil wants to destroy us; therefore it is extreamly important that we be alert so that we can resist him. Jewell
We should be aware of Satan's existence so we know what we are up against. The devil is powerful - we need to realize that and take a strong stand against him.
Craig
It is important to be aware of satan's existence because He is dangerous. The devil like a wild animal is seeking to devour people. Tabatha
Q2. (5:8) What is it important to be aware of Satan's existence? What does this verse teach us about the devil? Why is this teaching important? ( !st Peter 5:8 ) "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.' There's a tendency in life to drop our guard and to think that the enemy will just leave us alone if we're serving as Christ's Ambassador and soldier. But it has to be understood that the very idea of representing Christ carries with it the reality that we are in a war, constantly. It was Satan along with a third of the host of heaven who were cast into this world. That was meant as a punishment from God for their rebellion. But that rebellion hasn't ceased. Our enemy, Satan, is still at war with God as he vents his anger on God's people, trying to scheme ways to discourage us, frustrate us, and to lull us into a complacency which keeps us from engaging in the battle. Peter says we need to " be self-controlled and alert. " The NKJV puts it. " be sober, be vigilant", while the NAS puts it " be sober, be on the alert." The enemy is engaged in this war whether we fight or not. He has only one objective and that is to destroy any ability of ours to engage him, as we rely on the power of the Holy Spirit, so that we may go forth to further Christ's Kingdom with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Satan is very aware of what Paul understood when he said in ( Rom. 1:16 ) " I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. Rosie1Rose
Q2. (5:8) What is it important to be aware of Satan's existence? What does this verse teach us about the devil? Why is this teaching important? If we are not taught about the devil or spiritual warfare, then we are open and vulnerable to attack. Ignorance in warfare is dangerous. We need to be aware of the devil without seeing demonic activity around every corner or blaming it for something that is our sin. We need discerment and Godly knowledge. While the verse tells us to be on the alert for his attacks, interestingly Peter says to be self controlled and alert. If we are focused on Jesus and not giving in to our flesh, then we can stand strong. We can resist and stand firm in our faith. We are warned to be aware of him NOT to be scared of him. servant for Christ
Q2. (5:8) What is it important to be aware of Satan's existence? What does this verse teach us about the devil? Why is this teaching important? It is important because Satan is real. It teaches us that he is out to destroy us. This teaching is important because we cannot underestimate his powers. He will spiritually destroy anyone who abandons the protection of God. He seeks to destroy us through our experiences of suffering and trials. Through our faith in the blood of Christ, our spiritual warfare by the Spirit, and our prayers to God, we are fully equiped to defeat Satan's schemes, to resist him. and to stand firm in our faith. kenny
Q2. (5:8) What is it important to be aware of Satan's existence? What does this verse teach us about the devil? Why is this teaching important? Often we tend to go through life as Christians believing that Satan is defeated and being rendered incapacitated. Well while he might not have the same hold over the Spirit filled believer, he is still very much a force to be reckoned with. All around us you can see his handiwork and we as believers need to oppose his onslaughts in the name of Jesus. We need to stand strong and upright clothed in the armour of God because even though Satan was dealt a severe blow at the cross, he will still be the thorn in our sides till he is totally destroyed in the lake of fire. hanks
Q2. (5:8) What is it important to be aware of Satan's existence? What does this verse teach us about the devil? Why is this teaching important? There is no need to worry about Satan, but we have to be aware of his existence, and at the same time we have to take him seriously and be alert to his evil and devious tricks. This verse teaches us that he is like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. This means that we have to be constantly vigilant and prepared to meet every attack that he might have up his sleeve. No way can we have a light-hearted attitude to his tricks and lies. Sometimes he comes like a snake, seeking to lure people into moral corruption. Sometimes he disguises himself as an angel of light, attempting to deceive people in the spiritual realm. There are many ways we can be deceived. As long as we are strong in the Lord we will be safe. We must remember a Christian has the protection of spiritual armour (Eph 6:11-18). When a Christian is fully equipped, the devil is unable to penetrate this armour. Guitar Jim
Q2. (5:8) What is it important to be aware of Satan's existence? The greatest trick the devil ever pulled off is to convince people he doesn't exist. We're not dealing with an abstract evil here but with evil personified. If Satan hadn't rebelled and fallen from Grace there'd be no evil. What does this verse teach us about the devil? The devil roams around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour! It doesn't say he roams around like a cute fuzzy bunny . . . he roams around like a roaring lion! He's dangerous. A lion can still be over powered by a strong enough weapon wielded by a strong enough man though. Our weapons are not flesh and blood but Spiritual . . . from God! Why is this teaching important? It's important to remember that we have a real and constant adversary. He is our implacable opponent.
Nic
What is it important to be aware of Satan's existence? It is important to be aware of Satan's existence because he is real and he is dangerous. When we are unaware of his existence we are also unaware of his tactics and his plans. What does this verse teach us about the devil? This verse teaches us that not only is satan real, he is actively pursuing his mission to steal, kill and destroy. This verse describes him as a roaring lion and lions are very strong, dangerous animals who stop at nothing to get their prey. This tells me that satan is on a mission and that he will not be easily deterred. He is real, he is powerful and he is on a mission of mass destruction. Why is this teaching important? It is important so that we do not accept the lie that satan is non-existent or that even though he exists he is some feeble, weak being. He is real, he is alive, he is active and on a mission. This verse helps us to see this truth.
wifee
2a)Satan is a person opposed to God and all he stands for.An archangel who rebelled against God, fallen from a place in heaven, and has control over many lesser fallen angels, known as demons. We need to be aware of him, because satan is dangerous, not to be underestimated. He is our enemy, an opponent, a constant threat, continually antagonistic to us, a slanderer. God’s judgement compared to threat of lions. c)The devil is on the proul to devour us his prey.He attacks our weaknesses. He tries to turn our minds away from Jesus, and think of self. We must be alert to not to fall into his temptation, submit to it and sin. He will destroy those who abandon God’s protection, we need to keep the full armour of God on. Craig
Q2. (5:8) What is it important to be aware of Satan's existence? What does this verse teach us about the devil? Why is this teaching important?  It is important to be aware of Satan's existence because he is a real force and threat to Christians as well as humanity as a whole. This verse teaches us that Satan is a destroyer and he devours people. This verse is important because it informs us to be alert and to stay close to God because Satan will destroy us if given the opportunity. We must limit the opportunities. lighthouse2014
Q2. (5:8) What is it important to be aware of Satan's existence? What does this verse teach us about the devil? Why is this teaching important? It is important to be aware of Satan's existence because first he is mentioned many times in the Old and in the New Testaments. He tempted Jesus in the desert and wanted to test Peter before Christ death. This verse teaches us that the devil is our adversary, he is powerful and he is our accuser before the Lord. These teachings are important to us because we should know that if Satan accused Christ and put him on the cross, he will do his best to make us fall. We should pray that the Lord will keep us safe from the Devil's schemes. Â
