Q2. (Acts 3:19-20) Why is repentance necessary to experience personal “times of refreshing,” peace, and renewal? According to Acts 3:19-20, when does the ultimate “time of refreshing” come?

Repentance is necessary to experience personal times of refreshing because your sins are wiped out and forgiven. When we repent God doesn't only promise to cleanse us of our sins but He also promise to bring spiritual refreshment. We will have peace  because of the knowledge that God is in control our lives.

The time of ultimate refreshing will be during the second coming  of Jesus when we will be judged .

"Biblical repentance means responding to God's love by being transformed in your convictions and actions. It means turning towards God and away from whatever dishonors Him. Biblical repentance is not about your emotions, your sin, your efforts, or your resolve. It's about your surrender."repentence is necessary since a Christian needs to respond to God's Love and live everything which dishonor God.

Repentance means to change (to turn). When we have a true repentance the result is that God forgives us and we find peace of mind and our hearts experience newness. Therefore this situation of peace of mind and heart obviously results into personal 'times of refreshing'.

The ultimate "time of refreshing" according to acts 3:19-20 will come when Jesus returns on the earth as a ruler. Prince of peace will reign as the messiah.

Q2. Repentance is the only way to have our sins forgiven, it must be a complete turning away from sin. This in turn will bring us into fellowship with God which brings us renewal, peace and times of refreshing. The ultimate time of refreshing will come when Jesus returns to take us to be with Him. To spend eternity in His presence! Alleluia!!

We have to repent and turn away from our sins in order to experience the refreshment and freedom found in God's forgiveness.  The ultimate time of refreshing comes when God restores everything to its original sinless state at Jesus' second coming.

If the ultimate time of refreshment is when Jesus returns to the earth, now we must be in some sort of leading-to period, a penultimate period of what you call "refreshment."

I find the word "refreshment" confusing. I don't think of repentance as refreshment as much as relief and restoration -- the quote you gave, Pastor, spoke of restoration ... but maybe I'm missing something. I'm sorry.

Re-fresh. To make fresh again. This makes more sense as I think about it ...

Lawlessness or sinfulness results in restlessness and punishment and thus, to be justified and restored requires repentance by stopping the wrong acts and turning to faith and righteousness in Jesus by his power. This then brings one to a time of refreshing.

Repentance means that we know that we have sinned and with God’s help we will turn things around. So knowing that God will help us we can have “times of refreshing,” peace, and renewal. The ultimate “time of refreshing” will be when Jesus returns.

Q2. (Acts 3:19-20)

Why is repentance necessary to experience personal "times of refreshing," peace, and renewal?

According to Acts 3:19-20, when does the ultimate "time of refreshing" come?

In the Amplified Version the answer is found and explained in the passage itself.

  1. So repent (change your inner self -  your old way of thinking,   regret past sins)
  2. and return (to God  -  seek His purpose for your life)
  • so that your sins may be wiped away (blotted out,    completely erased)
  • so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord  (restoring you like a cool wind on a hot day).

If any of you truly tried this out, even as a child having maybe taken something Mother had said not to.   What refreshing one experiences when having owned up to be the guilty party. It is like a load taken off one's shoulder. A relief truly restoring you like a cool wind on a hot day.

The ultimate time of refreshing comes when Jesus returns.
