Pastor Ralph
Q6. (Matthew 11:28-30) In what sense is Jesus “gentle and lowly in heart”? What does this tell us about him? Bianca
Jesus was always straight forward with people but at the same time he never came across arrogant or with a mean spirit. He is very loving and compassionate towards everyone. Very easy to be around, very easy to talk to and you can be honest with Him and not feel intimated. It also tells us what kind of person he is and it also tells us that our Heavenly Father is also gentle and easy to be around. It makes him comfortable because hurting people wants to be around people who are willing to listen and understand them.
Clelie
Jesus seeing the burden of people and how they struggled, had compassion and offered to help them to unburden themselves for He is of a gentle and lowly spirit and his yoke (trusting Him) will provide rest for their souls. Jesus shows himself humble and caring and this brings people to approach Him with their problems in a spirit of freely trusting Him.
Brother Clifford wilson
The meek shall inherit the earth matt 5:5 Jesus in his Godly wisdom knows his flock and prepares us for this earthly walk. Jesus shows his humily by teaching us how to become meek spiritually and then to grow in humility, a sound foundation in the gospel. We are called to serve the father regardless of the state of our heart. The proud must become meek to learn the road to salvation. The christian on solid foundation must be meek to continue to grow in their walk. Jesus guides us by the power of the Holy Spirit. The apostle paul 1st Cor. 15:31 I must die Daily. I try to die in myself to receive today blessive instruction for todays walk. This must mean that I surrender the state of my heart daily if I am to become Christlike. Jesus humily calls us to be humble daily.
Jewells
Q6. (Matthew 11:28-30) In what sense is Jesus "gentle and lowly in heart"? What does this tell us about him? How does this make him comfortable for struggling people to be around? 28 Come53 to me, all54 you who are weary55 and burdened,56 and I will give you rest.57 29 Take my yoke58 upon you and learn from59 me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest60 for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy61 and my burden62 is light."63 (Matthew 11:28-30) I like the understanding that because he knows we are weak he does not demand but treats us with love and respect. Many of us were shamed growing up. We could not make mistakes always afraid to make a mistake and be shamed publically. We learned to hide. We learned to deny or ignore or escape. But Jesus says Come. In His light we see light. We can admit our failures and our defeats. We can admit the reproaches. Because He is safe. We have found no safety anywhere but He invites us to come to a safe place so He can gently and humbly show us our sin and as we are convicted He also provides the power to transform. We are weak and He is strong. He gives power to do what has been impossible without making a big deal about how we missed it or how much grander and loftier He is and always be. He treats us as someone who He wants to walk with and love truly. Thank you Lord for who you are!! Gentle and meek and yet the most powerful and majestic. judyk
Q6. (Matthew 11:28-30) In what sense is Jesus "gentle and lowly in heart"? What does this tell us about him? How does this make him comfortable for struggling people to be around? Jesus is gentle and lowly in heart by coming to us as one of us, in flesh and blood, rather than as Divine Creator and Lord. He came to us being as a man and able to relate to our human experience even though He has all Power and legions of Angels at His disposal. It tells us that He wants to know us and for us to know Him. It tells us He desires relationship with us, and even was willing to become like us to show us how much He loves us. When we realize the extent that He has reached out to us, we should recognize that He desires that we would find our peace and rest in Him. He always made time for the needs of those around Him. He allowed Himself to be interrupted. He wants us to walk with Him allowing Him to be our strength. He wants us to know Him. I never realized before how much it shows humility that He gives us the choice to know and receive His Love and Grace.
Brother Clifford wilson
Jesus being gentle and lowly in heart. Is this the hook? The heart or the core of man is the part of man that seeks and needs restoration from day to day. As jesus is gentle and lowly at heart, ths is a cause and effect stimulation, connections across the spiritual and earthly core. This is the common part ours, being anything but gentle and lowly. But focusing on Jesus our core is directly restored if we believe in the Power of the Blood of Christ. If Jesus approached us any other way our pride and self centerness might get in the way. Our will, if not in alignment with the will of God may make it hard to accept the Most High in all his glory; So he humbles himself, becomes gentle and lowly in heart. He knows his flock , levels the spiritual shift and prepares us to enter through the narrow gate and we seek him knowing of his humanity, we accept him more readily in his human state. Jesus is the Lord of our hearts and he works on renewing of the heart. Oh what a joy it is to have Jesus renewed in the lost soul and heart. Its like a coming home celebration. We feel the connection because our heart or core is gravitating toward the heart of Jesus.
Frances Kay
Jesus, rather than leaning over us with a stick to berate us, comes beside us and encourages us to understand things from the point of view of truth. We understand Jesus puts aside His lofty position to sit beside us; His concern is for our welfare, not to make it known how great He is. Struggling people sense hope; they are encouraged to continue on the path of truth and sense they have worth.
Zanele Tlhakanelo
Jesus is gentle and lowly in heart because He always has compassion for all mankind. He knew that He is God but because He came to save the lost, He had to be gentle and not force His authority on us but make us understand that He came to save us. This tells us that Jesus Christ understands any struggles, pain, joy and happiness that we all go through and when we cry, He is able to comfort us and when we rejoice, He celebrates with us. He is there any time we need Him. This makes Jesus comfortable for struggling people around the world because He also suffered by being rejected by His own. He suffered in the hands of men and because of His love for mankind, He asked God the Father to forgive all those who wronged Him. He did not condemn His persecutors but still was willing that the eyes of their hearts may be opened and understand that He only came to the world to save those that were struggling and the lost. The bigger picture is that Jesus Christ said "Yes" to the Will of God because He had compassion for all of us.
Janzie
On 8/12/2024 at 8:38 PM, Pastor Ralph said: Q6. (Matthew 11:28-30) In what sense is Jesus “gentle and lowly in heart”? What does this tell us about him? How does this make him comfortable for struggling people to be around? Jesus is gently and lowly because He loves us and came to save us. The only way He could do that was to come and give up His heavenly status to come as a man to save and deliver us. He is loving and compassionate not willing that anyone should perish. He persevered and was obedient to tyhe death of the cross and for the joy set before He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Jesus isn't pretentious. Even the most lowly can be comfortable in his presence.
Mama Eve
Q6. Matthew 11:28-30 I what sense is Jesus gentle and lowly In heart? Jesus invites all who are aware of their need to come to Him. Jesus invites all who are tired with life's struggles. That includes every kind of difficulty that people have in their lives. Whatever, we face in life the only person is Jesus who can give us rest. Jesus in the Bible that he is gentle and kind because He demonstrates humility. He's kind, tender and compassionate-comparing to the harsh teachers of the law. What does this tell us about him? Jesus is not trigger-happy. Jesus is not harsh or easily exasperated. Jesus is the most compassionate living person that ever walked the face of this earth. He cares for each and every living person. How does this make him comfortable for struggling people to be around? Jesus doesn't pretend about anything. Because of his humbleness and love he can make even the most lowly person comfortable in His presence. Jesus will not judge people because he has emptied himself, humbled himself to become one of us in human form. Jesus Cares and has compassion for all walks of life. Brenda Joy
Q6. (Matthew 11:28-30) In what sense is Jesus "gentle and lowly in heart"? What does this tell us about him? How does this make him comfortable for struggling people to be around? Jesus is gentle and lowly, he reveals this because he acknowledges those who are weary and heavy laden and invites them to come to him where he will rescue them by freeing them from the burdens of life...He reassures those who are struggling by revealing to them he has a yoke for them. Jesus provides for them in their time of difficulty. What a Savior we have, he lacks nothing.
hanks
Q6. (MATTHEW 11:28-30) In what sense is Jesus "gentle and lowly in heart"? What does this tell us about Him? How does this make Him comfortable for struggling people to be around? Jesus is gentle/meek when compared to the Pharisees of His day. And knowing that we are weak sinners, yet out of His love for us, He died taking our sins upon Him. He saw us as lost sheep without a shepherd and in His great heart of compassion and mercy reached out to us (Mat 9:36). Jesus is lowly in heart/humble. We see the humility of Jesus Christ in the fact that He took on human nature. Though being God, He emptied Himself, humbled Himself coming down to earth mixing with sinners and the despised. And on top of this He submitted to suffering criticism, mockery, and even death! The legalistic, hypocritical, religious system with all its extra laws and regulations that the people were caught up in – resulted in them completely missing the Messiah. Instead, Jesus frees the struggling people from all these burdens and offers them His yoke which is easier and lighter, promising them rest for their souls. We surrender our worries, our fears, our burdens finding refuge in Him, and finding strength in His love.
Nicolaas A.P. Mostert
Q6. (Matthew 11:28-30) In what sense is Jesus "gentle and lowly in heart"? JESUS is gentle, as the saying is HE will not force HIM on to man. JESUS always portray loving kindness and compassion towards man. JESUS is lowly, HE has a SERVANT heart. JESUS will first consider to fulfill the need of others. What does this tell us about him? SON of GOD and SON of man. How does this make him comfortable for struggling people to be around? JESUS knew that HE has already a solution to their challenges.
Commissioned
Q6. (Matthew 11:28-30) In what sense is Jesus “gentle and lowly in heart”? What does this tell us about him? How does this make him comfortable for struggling people to be around? Jesus embodies gentleness, or meekness, in His interactions with others. He has a quality of humility and consideration, He does not impose His authority but instead operates from love and understanding. Unlike the religious leaders of His time, who enforced the law harshly, Jesus approaches with kindness and respect, recognizing our weaknesses and shortcomings. His gentleness invites us to come to Him without fear of condemnation, creating a safe space for healing and growth. The term "lowly" emphasizes Jesus' unpretentious nature and His willingness to associate with the humble and marginalized, as noted in the prophecy from Isaiah. He embraces those deemed lowly, aligning His heart with the contrite and seeking to uplift them. This aspect of His character reassures us that no one is too insignificant to approach Him, allowing even the most broken individuals to feel welcomed and valued in His presence. Jesus’ gentleness and lowliness create a welcoming and nurturing environment for struggling people, allowing them to find solace, healing, and hope in His presence. He embodies the understanding and compassion that so many seek, assuring them they are never alone in their struggles.
Lisa Wolf
Q6. (Matthew 11:28-30) In what sense is Jesus “gentle and lowly in heart”? What does this tell us about him? How does this make him comfortable for struggling people to be around? These verses from Matthew truly highlight Jesus' invitation to us to let him teach us. No judgement. Come and learn. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Power: I WILL GIVE YOU... Purpose: taking His yoke and learning from Him. Presence: learn from ME. Promise: find rest for our souls. He includes all who struggle. We are welcome, and we will receive His care. Kak
Q2. Everything we know about Jesus comes from Him being lowly and gentle of heart. The fact that He left heaven with all it’s splendour to be born into this sinful world, and went on in obedience to His father to suffer at the hands of creatures He had created, and to willingly surrender himself to be crucified on a cross, it all speaks of His humility, and submission so that we might have our sins forgiven and have the opportunity to be with Him in Heaven. Jesus has lowered Himself to our level, so that no one needs to be uncomfortable in His presence. He loves the poor, meek, and down trodden. George L
Q6. (Matthew 11:28-30) 1. In what sense is Jesus "gentle and lowly in heart"? His purpose is to comfort and retrieve the lost, abused, downtrodden. He levels the field and approaches as they have worth to him, not for him as a possession or slave. But as persons of value and worth with needs. 2. What does this tell us about him? He takes absolute care to operate with care and compassion for those he encounters with needs. 3. How does this make him comfortable for struggling people to be around? While He is giving into their need, caring for their cares. He is arriving as a common traveler not as a personage expecting honor.
JOLLAM BANDA
In what sense is Jesus "gentle and lowly in heart"? What does this tell us about him? How does this make him comfortable for struggling people to be around? Though Jesus Christ is God, he has emptied himself, humbled himself to be one of us (Philippians 2:5-8). He calls us out of a good and sincere heart because he genuinely cares for our welfare and wants to comfort us. Jesus Christ takes upon himself our sin and our guilt. He is gentle and humble in heart. Jesus Christ is happy serving us because he is humble. Struggling people are comfortable with Jesus Christ because he cares for them and treats them humbly and in a positive and welcome way. Krissi
I just finished another one of Pastor Ralph’s fine tutorials, a study on Daniel, which ended with a discussion of God’s final judgement– a harsh but deserved judgement of all humanity. I learned that the capacity to judge and condemn non-believers and believers is also an attribute of Jesus. So, I see His gentleness in the context of his judgment and, conversely, His judgement in the context of his gentleness. What makes Jesus difficult to “be around,” however, is not as much His exacting judgment as our own suffering and pain. The final judgment has been settled in our favor so that’s not the issue. What’s at issue is Jesus’ goodness … gentleness and lowness of heart are usually associated with compassion; compassion with goodness. When we consider that Jesus knows of our continued and unrelenting pain in this life, it’s difficult to not wonder why a gentle Jesus wouldn't remove that pain? It is not that we think of Him as pretentious or uppity, but rather that we fear He is inured to suffering, looking past it or even celebrating it as an impetus for spiritual growth. Christians don’t want Jesus to commiserate with them as much as they want to be delivered. They want their suffering to END. The fact that Jesus struggled and suffered greatly as a man doesn’t negate His ability, as God, to ameliorate the pain of those who struggle now, but this rarely happens. You would think that Jesus' own sufferings would make Him more eager to end ours, but this doesn't seem to be the case. For some Christians, suffering is not for a “season” but a lifetime; for others, deliverance is instantaneous. So, yes, Jesus is meek and gentle but He also lets/wants some of us to suffer in this life.
Old Jerry
Jesus is “gentle and lowly in heart” all the time because he has taken time to save us and to guide us. This tells us that He is always with us even to the end of the age. We know that we can take comfort in Him because He is with us. We can turn to Him when we have problems and He will give us comfort.
