Jewells
Q12. What is the basic sin that drives all other sins? Why is it so important who is truly in charge of your life? Why are repentance and humbling so vital? Pride is the basic sin that drives all other sins. When we come to Christ we are surrendering control and putting our will in His Will. We want him to be on the throne of our hearts. Since he gives us free will the humbling comes from us to go to him and ask and seek not to assume we know what his will is out of our intellect. We spend time and study his word and pray to ask for guidance to know his will and strength to do his will. Pride makes us spiritually blind and we don't even perceive it but when we come to God he removes the blinders and causes us to see what only he can show us. He can also strengthen us where we are weak if we ask him to do so.
Brother Clifford wilson
Q12. Pride is the sin that surpasses all sins. Only the prideful and earth bound chooses to omit God and replace him with self. I have to have a strange amount of Ungodly pride to want to exalt myself above God. Yet that is what I do, when, I don't follow God. Everything right in a person's life can and will go bad when we do not exalt God as the giver of all that we are and all that we will ever be. The father knows all things, all things of life and of death. Mans pride denounces Gods plan for us to live an abundant life, yet we choose to live a life where we are on the throne, and we are free spirits. We are not free spirits we belong to Him, and we must repent and call on the name of Jesus Christ to step in and restore us to factory (spiritual) condition. Pride tries to step in even as we repent so we must use all weapons of God to repel and flee the old man and his prideful condition. We make our selves prideful of our own volution; but only God can restore us from this disarray in spirit.
Bianca
A prideful spirit is the sin that drives all other sins. It is important for us to allow God to be in charge of our lives because God will help us stay away from a prideful behavior. We don't need to allow ourselves to just walk around trying to just make our own decisions without consulting with God or obeying God. This will lead to prideful behavior. Repentance is very important because it helps us to recognize where we have missed it and to help us change. Humbling ourselves before God and others helps keep us from pride. Nickbrother
“Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, fulfill my joy, that you think the same way, by maintaining the same love, being united in spirit, thinking on one purpose, doing nothing from selfish ambition or vain glory, but with humility of mind regarding one another as more important than yourselves, not merely looking out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this way of thinking in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although existing in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, by taking the form of a slave, by being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore, God also highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:1-11 LSB https://bible.com/bible/3345/php.2.1-11.LSB

Clelie
The basic sin that causes other sins is pride. God created me in his own image and I have to let Him be my Lord in all areas of my life. It is important to be humble and to repent of our sins because God hates sins that separate us from Him and His perfect will for us.
Zanele Tlhakanelo
Pride is the basic sin that drives all other sins because it makes you believe that you are the most important person who is in charge of life itself forgetting that God is the only One who gives us life and can take it without even consulting you. When Christ is not in the centre of your life, you will think that you have all that it takes to control your life and others. God, the Creator of Heaven and earth and all that is in it is the Sole Proprietor of my life. I acknowledge that before I was formed in my mother's womb, the Trinity sat and thought about me and God knows everything about me even things that I do not even know about myself. I truly believe that I am fearfully and wonderfully made and I am the apple of God's eye. I believe that repentance and humility are vital because we sin at times through our thoughts and speech and when we hurt others through our actions, we actually hurt God because we are all made in His image and after His likeness. It is therefore important to repent sincerely so for all the sins that we commit. We understand that Christ Jesus became a ransom for us and we must not crucify Him over and over again through our disobedience. We must acknowledge where we have sinned and humble ourselves because God is faithful to forgive us our sins if we truly repent.
Dr. Gracie L. Adderly
Pride is the basic sin that drives all other sins when it places the prideful person at the moral centre- when one's self- worth is out of proportion to reality. If God exists at all to the prideful person, it is only to gratify one’s ego and sense of importance. Pride causes a person to negate God and take all credit for one’s accomplishments. If your parents are proud of you, that does not mean they are sinning; likewise, if you are proud of yourself. There is a kind of pride that comes from an accomplishment, i.e., completing something. One can praise God that they were enabled and empowered to complete a task or achieve a goal. The kind of pride that becomes a sin is where one becomes arrogant and vain, begins to presume themselves better than others, more entitled or superior than others. The kind of pride Satan had when he was still an angel, that motivated him to rebel against God himself, despite being his highest creation and in direct and constant contact with God himself. The kind of pride that is destructive and negative, that goes against what is good and right, and feels quite justified in it. That kind of pride makes one delusional. https://www.britannica.com/topic/pride-deadly-sin
Mama Eve
Q.12 What is the basic sin that drives all other sins? Pride is one of the deadly sins that God detest. (Proverbs 6:16-19). Pride, is called vanity or hubris. The word hubris used in the New Testament parallels the Hebrew word pesha, meaning transgression. It represents a pride that makes a man defy God, sometimes to the degree that he considers himself equal. And we will see this with the Antichrist. Pride goes before destruction, a haughty Spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18). As pride was the chief sins of Adam and Eve which was temptation , blame and then consequences for disobedience. It still applies in this society that we are living in because many people are full of pride. Why is it so important who is truly in charge of your life? offers a sol that Jesus is truly in charge of my life because He will direct me toward the correct path of life. This happened when I first accepted Christ as My Savior. I no longer belong to myself but him. He is the center of my life. Knowing this provides a sense of security, peace and directs me in the face of life's challenges. Also, Jesus offers a solid foundation for living a meaningful life aligned with his teachings and values. Why is repentance and humbling so vital? Both repentance and humility are important because they help us recognize our need for God and allows us to change our hearts and minds. George L
Q12. 1. What is the basic sin that drives all other sins? Pride. Placing self desires ahead of God’s. 2. Why is it so important who is truly in charge of your life? We can not see the end from the beginning. To make that worse we are blind to what we are in the midst of if we are operating on self desires. 3. Why are repentance and humbling so vital? We must openly remove our self from control by our own change of mind. We must come to know Father God as who he really is with majesty and power as His very nature. Such power is not careless or flippant, never acting without deliberation and sound reason. We must come to understand his ways and mature in our commitment to serve as Jesus served. Say and do what he saw and heard Father doing and he did and only that.
Lisa Wolf
Q12. What is the basic sin that drives all other sins? Why is it so important who is truly in charge of your life? Why are repentance and humbling so vital? The basic sin that drives all sin is to be our own god and not let God be the King and Lord of our life as He truly is Lord of Lords. It is so important who is in charge of our lives because we know in Romans 8 that God works all things for our good when we love Him. if we want the best life, we let Him be in charge. He orchestrates best. Repentance and humbling ourselves are critical because both remove SELF from the throne of our life and places God in the Highest place. In Luke 24:45-49, Jesus, "opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” If repentance was not vital, He would not have told us. True repentance requires humility.
hanks
Q12. What is the basic sin that drives all other sins? Why is it so important who is truly in charge of your life? Why are repentance and humbling so vital? Pride is the root of all evil. It is from this self-exaltation that all kinds of sinful actions arise. We need to repent; and start turning away from our sin; and stop rebelling; and start following God’s way of living as given in His Word. It is important that we turn away from self and hand our lives over to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ – His direction and His control. God will help us live the way He wants. Remember only God can forgive sin. Either we repent and humble ourselves - if not God will humble us.

When God is sitting on the throne of your life, He is exalted, He leads and guides. When we sit on the throne of our lives, we think we are better than God. We are prideful and need to humble ourselves. Repentance and humbling are so vital because repenting is humbling your self before God and letting Him have His way. He alone is God, not us. Krissi
I can see how pride, in the sense of putting our own ideas ahead of God's, is the foundational problem all humans have. Yet I don't see how we can get away from pride because we must choose to obey God, when we are conscious of making a choice, or choose to disobey Him. We make that final decision. Or do we? It certainly feels as if we're making choices and decisions. To the degree that this is true, our pride must be located in our ability to choose. A totally humble person would not, or could not, choose. His or her choices would be God's alone. I think that's what it means by dying to self, that is, giving up the ability to choose, (but, even that is a choice!) Ao, is choosing in itself pride? It must be even when we choose rightly. Jesus came to get us out of this trap. In essence, to be humble, we must submit our choices to Him before we make them. We present to God our situations, shortcomings and circumstances and ask Him to make sense of them. We hope that we're really submitting and not merely partial submitting as we do this. And then, we make choices which are hopefully informed and controlled by the Spirit, not just by ourselves. We choose, or feel as if we're choosing, what He would have chosen, or what we think He wants us to do/think/be. Obviously, this submitting-then-choosing is rife with potential for mistakes. At any point, we may think we're submitting when we're really making self-directed choices. Thus the need for repentance ... and Christ. Our repentance isn't real if the feeling/state of humility isn't first present.
Kak
Q12. Pride is the sin that exaltes us above God. We think that we know better, than our Creator as to what is best for us. Often we go ahead with plans without prayer or even consultation with God in any way. We need to accept that God knows best and we need to repent and train ourselves to be disciplined in following God closely each day. We need to spend time in prayer and study of His word. This helps us to understand just who God is and how we should honour and obey Him daily.
