Q21. Pure Religion

Q21. (Act 9:36-42; James 1:27; Luke 14:12-14). Why does caring for orphans and widows constitute pure religion? Why does helping those who can't help you show humility? Why are Dorcas and Mother Teresa so inspiring?

Dorcus and Mother Teresa devoted their lives to serve others without any motive other than being of service.  People who had no where to go in their condition went to Mother Teresa for help.  She ministered to them.  Dorcus was involved in everyone's life in her community.  She just showed up in their lives and filled a need.  They loved her for her kindness and for the availability of her life.  The Lord tells us that pure religion is this kind of availability and service.  It is not the outward show of temples and sacrifices and pomp and education but how in daily life it sustains and nourishes everything around itself.  Motives are everything.  And if one is led by God, the motives will be pure.

Q21. (Act 9:36-42; James 1:27; Luke 14:12-14). Why does caring for orphans and widows constitute pure religion? Why does helping those who can’t help you show humility? Why are Dorcas and Mother Teresa so inspiring?

When we help those who cannot return the favor, we are truly offering help.  We need to be cognizant of our creator who made each person in His image (Gen. 1:27).  You have to humble yourself to know that it is only effort on your part--time, energy, finances which are all given away forever.  Dorcas and Mother Teresa are inspiring because they understood that need is real, and they were willing to be all in to help others. Acts 9 tells us, "All the widows stood around" Peter telling about Dorcas; how many had she impacted?  Mother Teresa caught attention because of the number of untouchables she touched; how many? James 1:27 says, "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."  Caring for orphans and widows certainly denotes the needy. No one to provide for orphan children and no one to provide for  widows--Jesus wants us to live as He did, even giving the care of His Mother while He hung on the cross near death, to His disciple. Jesus asks care for others of His disciples. God loves each of us so much.  (Psalm 139) Pure religion is worship of God followed by action.

Q21  Humility is loving the poor and unfortunate without prejudgement while supplying the immediate food, shelter or financial needs of those who the lord puts in your path.  Purest of these is the persons who don"t wait to help but searches for the unfortunate and endears oneself to the cause.  We are often presented with chances to help and sometimes we do,  by the urging of the Holy Spirit we respond to immediate needs of peple. Strong women of God have a innate ability to be a light to humanity showing us how to perform in the spirit what we do with words.  Faith is action.

Widows and orphans are deprived of a provider, protector, helper and are vulnerable. To look after them and  to help them is showing them the love of Christ in humility for Christ was humble.

Dorcas and mother Teresa were humble as they served others without any thoughts about themselves.

Q. 21 Acts 9:36-42, James 1:27, Luke 14:12-14  Why does caring for orphans and widows constitute pure religion?

Children without parents and women without husbands were among the most needy. These verses states "Pure Religion" is defined as caring for those who are in need and avoiding the sins of the world.

Why does helping those who can't help you show humility?

Widows and orphans have nothing they can give us. This is why serving exemplifies true self-giving agape love and true humility.

Why are Dorcas and Mother Teresa so inspiring?

These incredible women exercised not only their spiritual gifts but also humility towards other people. They both were always doing good and helping the poor. Dorcas made robes and clothing. She served the widows of the community who are destitute and served with a humble heart. Mother Teresa also served with a humble heart in serving those dying on the streets of Calcutta and all those who felt unwanted or unloved.

Q21. (ACT 9:36-42; JAMES 1:27; LUKE 14:12-14).
Why does caring for orphans and widows constitute pure religion? Why does helping those who can't help you show humility? Why are Dorcas and Mother Teresa so inspiring?
Caring for orphans and widows is pure and faultless in the sight of our Heavenly Father, in that it is done in purity of the heart. There is no hidden agenda here. Insincere motives are not involved here. They are usually the most vulnerable of all and are not in a position to repay us for any help. It takes a humble person to do this, knowing that God takes care of orphans and protect widows (Psalm 68:5). This means serving God who seeks the helpless and the socially deprived ones. It shows that we empathise with them in their situation and express our concern for them. I read that Mother Theresa once said, “Humility is the mother of all virtues; purity, charity, and obedience. It is in being humble that our love becomes real, devoted and ardent.” A truly humble servant of the Lord.

Caring for orphans and widows constitute pure religion because when you do that to them, they sincerely appreciate because they understand that they will not be able to reciprocate what you have done for them. They understand that the gesture is done out of love and kindness.

Helping those who can't help you show humility because we know that they cannot give back. Giving to the widows and orphans is showing gratitude to God because it is He who gives us the blessings so that we can be a blessing to those who do not have. God expects us as His children to compassion and this is what humility is all about.

Dorcas and Mother Teresa inspire us because they showed love by doing good for all people without expecting anything from them. They touched lives and gave people the dignity of life and as children of God we must emulate them and do not expect to be rewarded in this life as the greatest reward is awaiting those that are doing good for God's people. Being obedient to the Will of God is more than sacrifice.

Caring for widows and orphans is pure religion because we are ministering to individuals who are in most cases great need.  This shows humility because we are sowing into people without benefiting from it...   Actually it is gratifying that we can serve them...  Afterwards our hearts are full because of the joy of serving.   These women are inspiring because they show us that in our own lives we can do the same.   There are things each of us can to for the sake of others.

Caring for orphans and widows constitute pure religion because they have nothing and cannot repay you.

Helping those who can't help you show humility because you are not expecting anything from them.  They have nothing to give you. You are imitating what the God would do.  You should use whatever gift God has given you to serve others, administering God's grace.

Dorcas and Mother Teresa are so inspiring because they are just serving the Lord, giving their all for others and expecting nothing in return.  Giving of the gift God has given them.
