Q5. (James 1:18) In what sense are we given spiritual birth by the “word of truth”? What does spiritual life have to do with the Word?

The "word of truth" gives us knowledge and wisdom to help us die to the deeds of the flesh and to be born again spiritually.  The spiritual life should be a reflection of the word of truth.

We are given spiritual birth by the Word of truth because it is by the Word that we are made new. If we believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died as a sacrifice for our sins so we can be forgiven by the Father, this is the Word of truth and we have new life because of our faith. Our spiritual life connects to the Word in several ways. How we read it with our eyes-its reflects how we see the world. When we meditate on the Word it changes our thoughts. The Word changes your heart when you know about the love Christ Jesus has for you. It is in these ways that the Word connects to our spiritual life.

By hearing the gospel of Salvation that for God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have the eternal life, and by accepting it we become new creatures. Spiritual life comes only the Word, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, Romans 10:17.

Q5. (James 1:18) In what sense are we given spiritual birth by the "word of truth"? We were given Jesus through the Immaculate Conception. Jesus is the Word. The Word begets faith. Therefore, Jesus, in whom we are, is Faith Personified. By being born again, we are spiritually resurrected and purified by the blood of Jesus. What does spiritual life have to do with the Word? God sent Jesus to us to give us life by, amongst others, performing the signs and miracles He did by faith in the Father. Since we are in Christ, we should have and display Christ-like faith in our spiritual life.

Q5. (James 1:18) In what sense are we given spiritual birth by the “word of truth”? What does spiritual life have to do with the Word?

Word of truth gives us Faith through our Lord Jesus Christ. When we accept Jesus and his word, we undergo spiritual birth.

In the beginning the Word was with God. God created the world with his Word. We, his children should obey his Word and walk in his ways.

Col.1:5 ...heard about in the word of truth, the gospel...

Jesus, being the Word of God in the flesh, said...I am the way, THE TRUTH, and the life...(John 14:6)

He is full of truth. (john 1:14)

For the word of God is living and active,

and sharper than any two-edged sword,

even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit,

of both joints and marrow,

and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

In what sense are we given spiritual birth by the “word of truth”?

God chose us, born through the Spirit of Truth, the Word Jesus Christ, who left with us His Holy Spirit. 'Having believed in Him we were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit' (Eph 1:13).

What does spiritual life have to do with the Word?

The Word guards and shields our spiritual life. We are to do our best to present ourselves to God as approved by following the Word of Truth by faith in all circumstances in our life. Sure we will fail and will need to seek God's forgiveness. We are His workmanship, a gift from God. Continue and persevere in the Faith knowing that Jesus is there with us, as a friend, comforter and Father.

Q5. (James 1:18) In what sense are we given spiritual birth by the "word of truth"? What does spiritual life have to do with the Word?

God of His own free will has redeemed us (given us new spiritual life/ birth)  by the "Word of Truth" as the most important of His creation. It is an act of grace. We are undeserving for we go our own way.  Yet, we are purchased with the precious Blood of God's only Son. He continues  to refine us (through hardship) so that we might be conformed to the image of His Son.

By grace are ye saved through faith.

This faith is obtained by hearing the Word of God.  We then accept the Word and the refining process starts in earnest to conform us to the image of Christ, to break down the flesh and build up spiritual life.

We are spiritually born when we hear the message of the word of truth, the Bible, the word of God, believe and accept that Jesus died to set us free from the bondage of satan.

By hearing the Word of truth, receiving it and then it becomes life to our Spirit.

Spiritual life, receiving the Word, the Gospel of Christ brings  spiritual life to us and as we grow in Christ and the Word, the Holy Spirit give us revelation, wisdom and understanding.  The Word brings Spiritual life, only if you have received Christ and now His Spirit lives in you.  If you have not received Christ you cannot understand the Word.

The Word of Truth is God.  When we accepted Jesus Christ into our lives and we became "born again" we had our spiritual birth.  Spiritual birth = Born again by God's spirit.

The Word of Truth IS the gospel.  By the sending of that gospel it is God's purpose that man should be reborn into a new life.  When we are reborn by the true word of the gospel, we become the property of God, even as the first-fruits of the harvest did.  God's supreme object is the re-create life through the truth of the gospel, so that men should know that they belong by right to him.

When we read the Bible, which is the word of truth, we get a chance to obey and apply the word in our lives.By living according to the word inspired by the Holy Spirit, we experience a spiritual life.

This spiritual life begins with repentance and baptism in Jesus' name, submitting Christ's lordship over our lives, as a second birth. In His discourse with Nicodemus (John 3:1-18), Jesus emphasizes that being born again is mandatory in joining God's spiritual kongdom that is indestructible and everlasting (Dan2:44). Continued reading of the written word as we speak to the "word/truth that became flesh" i.e. Jesus through prayers, sustains the spiritual life.
