Q3. Bring to Completion

Recommended Posts

Paul expects that God will finish what He has started because He is God. Paul's confidence is not in the Philippians, who, like all of us, are feeble and fall short daily. Paul's confidence is in almighty God, who fails at nothing. In Him we are able to do more than we could think or dream of doing because wi are joined to Him through Christ Jesus our Lord, to whom is all power and glory.

Q3. (1:6) What does Paul expect God to do for the Philippian believers? Why does he expect God to do this? What is the basis of Paul's confidence? On what basis can we expect God to do this for us?

To continue a good work in them until Christ second coming. Paul knew that God is faithful and His faithfulness will cause a completion in our lives if we stay focus on Him, His will and His way. Praise The Lord!!!

Q3. (1:6) What does Paul expect God to do for the Philippian believers?

He expects God to bring them to maturity and to fully complete the work He began in them.

Why does he expect God to do this?

God is faithful to fulfill His Word and Work.

What is the basis of Paul's confidence?

The written Word of God...His promises, and God's work in his own life. He was speaking to them what God had spoken to him, and relying on God's faithfulness.

On what basis can we expect God to do this for us?

The same Word to them is also for us. God is no respecter of persons...what He promises to one, is for all who receive His Word, and apply themselves to it. In the Amplified version it says: He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ (right up to the time of His return), developing that good work and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.

The reason that first comes is very simply put. Paul expects G-d to finish what He started because He said He would. G-ds word is very clear on more than on occasion Jesus says that whatever He began to do in us HE will never stop working out His purpose in us. Paul is trying to encourage the Philippians that they must keep faithful, as He will remain faithful. That HE WILL do that which is intended for us to be. And that same applies to us.

If G-d tells me He will never leave me or forsake me than that says to me that I must stay believing that, so that I can continually allow His Holy Spirit to mold me, change me and grow me.

At least thats what I get from what i was reading.

Thank sfor listening.

Bless you! :)

Marymi, I am just curious as to why you do not spell our "GOD" in your post. Maybe I am just too new to blogs/forums but why do you spell it "G-d"?

Thanks in advance. God bless you. Susan

Q3. (1:6) What does Paul expect God to do for the Philippian believers? Why does he expect God to do this? What is the basis of Paul's confidence? On what basis can we expect God to do this for us?

Paul expects God to finish the work He began in the believers (then and now). The work, whatever that means to each individual believer - it is for Every believer to become like Christ - this work to become like Christ and the work that is unique for each believer will be carried to completion and this work will continue in the lives of believers until Jesus Christ comes back to reign on earth, at which time the same kind of work that He is doing now will no longer be necessary.

"WHY" does Paul expect God to do this is because God never does anything halfway. He wants us to be like Christ, pure and holy and blameless and sin-free. God told us to be perfect even as He is perfect [in labor, growth, mental and moral character - Strong's] (Matthew 5:48). But that word "perfect" means "complete." God wants to complete in us what we cannot complete with our sin nature as part of us. We need our sin nature eradicated AND we need to transform into being holy and blameless like Christ. This is a process that God will see to completion because He is perfect. He also cannot have in His kingdom of Heaven anyone who is NOT perfect (blameless and holy).

The basis of Paul's confidence is that God is a God of mercy and grace, withholding what we deserve and giving us what we don't deserve. God is the only One True God and does what He says He will do. Plus the fact that He loves us so much that He wants the very best for us and this is to be like His son. It is on the basis of faith that we know that God will complete His work in us. As we hunger and thirst for Him, He also draws us to Himself and in this, we become more like Him - more complete as His children.

Paul expects that God will keep working on us (perfecting us) til the day we step from this world into eternity with Him. Paul is convinced that God is faithful. He has seen God work in his life. Paul knows that salvation isn't dependant on works, but on faith. We, too, know that God is faithful. He will never leave us or forsake us. So, we also can stand with Paul and confidently say, "He Who began a good work in ME will carry it on to completion til the day of Christ Jesus!!"

Q3. (1:6)

What does Paul expect God to do for the Philippian believers?

Why does he expect God to do this?

What is the basis of Paul's confidence?

On what basis can we expect God to do this for us?

Paul was certain that God who launched a good work in the Philippians would continue it. When God begins the work of salvation in us he will finish it. God never starts anything that he cannot finish. God will either work in us or he will work on us but he will finish the job. It was this confidence that gave Paul joy, for Paul had faith in God's ability and promises.

What does Paul expect God to do for the Philippian believers?

Paul believes that the good work God began in us will be "carried on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus"

Why does he expect God to do this? What is the basis of Paul's confidence?

Paul expects God to do this because we are his property. Our salvation and eternal destiny do not derive from our efforts to be righteous, but on God himself who declared us to be his "saints" and will complete what he has begun in our lives when Christ comes.

On what basis can we expect God to do this for us?

Our faith and God's grace.

Paul expects that God will help the Philippian Saints to become better than they presently are through a process of maturing and or perfecting them.

Paul expects God to do this based on two things, (1) His love for the Philippian saints, and (2) because of the promise He made - never to fail us, leave, abandon, or forsake us, He promised to be with us alway, even to the end of time.

We can and should expect the same thing - as we are already complete in Christ Jesus. We can and should expect the same thing based on God's love for us - His desire to fellowship with us both in this world and in the world to come.

Q3. (1:6) What does Paul expect God to do for the Philippian believers? Why does he expect God to do this? What is the basis of Paul's confidence? On what basis can we expect God to do this for us?

To help them to be good christians.

Because God already said that this is His will.

The basis of Paul's confidence is that God Himself said so and that He always keeps His word.

Because Jesus told us that God wants everybody to be saved.

Everybody is called to be a christian but we have to choose for ourselves if we want to.

If we want to, His Spirit will help us.

That's what this is about.

Paul expected God to complete what He had begun in the lives of the Philippians from the day they accepted Christ as their Savior until the Day of Christ, when Christ comes for the church and every believer.

The reason Paul expected this of God is because God is involve in the salvation of every believer, and at salvation we become partners with God and share in the fellowship and suffering of Christ.

The basis and foundation of Paul

Paul expected God to continue the completion of His good work in them, which is involvement in their salvation from the beginning to the end. He was confident of this because of his assurance of God’s involvement in their lives. He knew that they were helping Christ’s cause to advance the gospel because of the support they continued to give him and they were willing to be used by God for his works. We too can expect God to do the same for us on the basis that we are saved by grace and the Holy Spirit lives in us to help us to be more like Jesus every day in our Christian growth and maturity that began when we accepted Jesus and will continue until He returns.

Paul expects God to finish what He began with the Philippians . God has called these people, they are part of his elect and God will  bring them into an eternal relationship with God-self.  Paul is confident of this and expects God to do this because of God's faithfulness.

We can expect God to do the same for us because of his faithfulness.

Paul expects God to do a good work in them.  It affirms that God would insure that the work would be done to completion.  He expects God to do this because only God can.  God is the Master and the Creator and everything he does; he does to completion.  Amen!  It was on the fact that it was begun by God, that he based his firm conviction that it would be permanent. The same basis on which he did for the Phillipians.  Amen!

Paul expects God to complete the work He started in the Philippians when they first came to Christ.  That they will grow into mature Christians.  Paul's basis of confidence is God Himself and His faithfulness. God doesn't leave things uncompleted. He fulfulls and finsihes what He has started, including our salvation and sanctification.  What a comfort!  Since we belong to His Church-His people- He will do the same for us!

We have the responsibility to turn from sin to God. God according to Paul becomes involved in our lives at this point and helps us.  When we first met Christ, he came and lived in us.  The Holy Spirit lives within us and enables us to become more Christ-like.  This is the same today as it was then. Christ died on the cross for us and forgave all of our sins that we had not yet even committed. Then he sent us the Advocate or the Holy Spirit to live within our hearts.  What love!

Paul is putting all his weight on God.  He expects God to finish what He started in Philippi. Paul knows God's track record.  He is faithful & he can never fail.  Both Peter & Jonah learned that salvation is open to all who believes in God. We are joint heirs in Christ & his promises are extended to the Jew first but also to the Greek & Gentile.

Q3 (Phil 1:6) What does Paul expect God to do for the Philippian believers?

Just as He gave us the gift of forgiveness and eternal life when we first said "Yes!" to His invitation, Paul expects God to complete the work of conforming them into the image of Christ....so "at that day, they will be like Him (Jesus)"

Why does he expect God to do this? What is the basis of Paul's confidence?

Paul's confidence was based on that fact that the Philippians were partakers and sharers with him, in God's grace, favor and spiritual blessing.

On what basis can we expect God to do this for us?

Our expectation is based on His word....His promise to continue to develop, perfect, and bring to completion "the good work which He began in us."  God always finishes what He starts!

Paul expected God to complete His work in them. Paul knew God and trusted His faithfulness. We can also know God and trust His faithfulness. God has promised to be with us always and He cannot lie.

Q3. (1:6) What does Paul expect God to do for the Philippian believers? Why does he expect God to do this? What is the basis of Paul's confidence? On what basis can we expect God to do this for us?

Paul expects that God will be with the Philippian believer as he journeys through life.  He expects that God will do the same for us too because God has adopted us as His very own sons and daughters and He has called us "saints". We can expect that God will do this for us because he has given us that promise and that can never be rescinded; if we follow Him He will surely bring us to Him as the Bride of Christ.
