How was their giving linked to temporal blessings? they gave unto the lord. sure they saw paul, and heard pauls words,and knew paul had a great ministry, but they actually were gods words and actions coming through paul. they knew that just as paul was given his ministry, they too, were giving their finances, and all things came from the lord.so giving your time, your talents or even your tithes,reflects who you are in christ jesus and what you really believe to be true. we can hoard the treasure for ourselves or we can give without resistance, futhering the gospel for christ's sake. How was their giving linked to temporal blessings? God loves a generous giver and I believe that God blesses and rewards those who give generously both now and in eternity. God takes care of those who bless others. God often provides through people and I believe that God continues to bless those you bless others enabling them to continue to do so. Although Paul might have done the labor, the Philippians had provided the finances that enabled him to do so. How was their giving linked to temporal blessings? The blessing of giving and receiving financial, but reaping a spirital blessing from the Lord. When we give we are showing where our faith lies, it has to lie in what God has said as far as the good measure, pressed down, shaken up together running over for what you give it will be measured to you. With out considering to whom much is given much is required. For God has control of it all, and is willing to give it unto us His servants that obey and give according to what He tells us to give. By the Philippians financial contributions to Paul they tapped into an over flow and profit of fruit that resulted in men, women, and children won to Christ and serving as disciples in new churches that was credited to their heavenly account just as much as to Paul's account. A reward in Heaven awaited them as they "backed" Paul's ministry and shared in His Heavenly reward for the fruit of his labor on earth. I love that God's ledgers keep track of souls saved and who the "sowers, waterers, and reapers" were who contributed to sharing the Gospel with them....then besides giving reward and blessing here on earth, deposits a reward to our Heavenly account in Heaven....and that He observes our financial giving, rewarding that as well, down to the widow's mite! How was their giving linked to temporal blessings? They had the huge blessing of co-laboring with Paul as he traveled and ministered the Gospel. They loved him and supported him out of love and obedience rather than for gain. Their gratitude to God for their own Salvation and love for Him overflowed into Paul's ministry. I weep with joy when a sinner comes to Christ. That should be reward enough, but God is generous and when we give with right motives, God promises a "return" on our giving here on earth as well as in Heaven. My husband and I were amazed as brand new believers when we committed to giving (not enough faith to give a tithe in the beginning). I believe we decided with our strapped financial situation in having bought a small business, to give $50.00. Money didn't pour in, but for the first time in ages, none of us got sick, so there was no Doctor bill. Then the next month, the groceries seemed to stretch beyond what we planned. The following month none of our appliances needed repairs....the car stopped breaking down, etc. We soon became tithers as we saw that giving to the Lord, sewed up the "Hole in our purse" where the same money used to leak out through the hole into living expenses. His blessings aren't always financial ...He has healed our marriage, blessed us with 2 wonderful children who are born again, friends, an awesome church family, a Pastor who is on fire for God and is faithful to preach the whole counsel of God, including correction when needed....There isn't room here to recount all that He pours into us, even though we lost that business, our home, our car, and more....He has been faithful to more than meet every need! What is the limit of the fulfilment of the promise? In your own words, what does the promise mean to you? I think this is a specific promise to all of us, who faithfully and devotedly give in the name of Jesus. It promises that we will never lack. It is also true in a general sense that God does supply the needs of His people. I am however very aware and cautious that I do not only give in order to receive. I give because I want to out of my love for Jesus. He is our Heavenly Father and we are his creatures and it is not for us to make demands on Him. The spiritual fruit resulted in men, women and children won to Christ and serving as disciples in new churches. Both Paul and the Philippians share in the reward. How was their giving linked to temporal blessings? Their giving is temporal, but the spiritual blessings and dividends are both in this life and into eternity. Their giving was linked to temporal blessings in that God has vowed not only to return to us what we give - but to increase it causing more to come back to us than what we gave. . . God's Word tells us, God will bless those who bless Israel, Paul a Jew, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Pharisee, who studied and knew the scriptures, understood this scripture very well, and he believed that God would do as He said he would, God would bless the Gentile church, for their hearts expressed their love and concern for Paul with their financial gifts of support, and by so doing they knew they would also have a part in spreading the Good News of Israel's Messiah, so that others could be blessed in knowing that He will one day change our vile bodies, and will fashion them unto his glorious body; that in itself would be a great blessing, but more important, was their support was a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice unto the God of Israel. What a blessing that is to the soul of the giver, for we are called by God's Son to offer up to God a fragrant aroma of praise and Glory. How was their giving linked to temporal blessings? The temporal blessing was in having a part in spreading the Word; as they gave of their money and support to Paul, they were in union with the Lord, and their hearts were blessed when Paul responded with much joy, and counted them as true friends, of whom he loved, and of whom he knew loved him, a temporal blessing of great joy. The Bible says a lot about those who contribute generously, that their reaping and sowing would be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous and that there would be dividends in this life and into eternity. Anytime that we give we always receive more then we give. It may not be monetary reward but there is always a reward. It creates a piece within you that nothing else can do. In God's economy, what we do here on earth is tied to spiritual principles and realities. Our generosity opens the floodgates of heaven for temporal and spiritual blessings. God makes sure our needs are met on the earth because our focus is on His purposes and not just on our own carnal interests and desires. How was their giving linked to temporal blessings? Whatever is given or done to the Lord’s servants is given and done to the Lord. As believers we are representatives of our King and it is our privilege to speak and act for Him. We do it all out of the love for our Lord, and not because of anything we might receive – it is a way of expressing our love for Jesus. Besides, our Lord Himself said: "It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). Our deeds might not always be appreciated and we will experience opposition, and rejection. However, none of this kindness will go unnoticed and all acts of compassion will be rewarded. There will be eternal rewards, but even here on earth God will be glorified, and by our giving we will be enriched to give even more. The key is to give cheerfully, not only monetary but also of your time and resources. If we give to receive something in return, it is considered a duty rather than a gift. God "gave" His Son because He loved us.....just think about it if God did this to receive something in return from us, then it surely would not have been an act of love but duty. We need to see it the same way. Paul obviously understood this fact and because the Philippian Church gave so much to Paul, Paul knew that they were filling their heavenly account, their treasures in Heaven. The Philippians have credited to their heavenly by the fact that they have been the financial support for Paul while he did the world of saving souls for Christ. Their generous giving also gave them temporal blessings because Malachi 3:10 reads that the Lord should be tested by them in their giving. Paul did the leg work and the Philippians' financially supported his work. As a result, the profit of souls being saved would be shared by the both and credited to their accounts.
