pickledilly
Hezekiah and Jesus began their recorded prayers with recognition of the true, living God of heaven and earth whose sovereign will reigns supreme over everything. This understanding and respect for the Lord is the foundation of faith. To have faith that God listens and hears, looks and sees, and then answers His people requires confidence that He is who He says - the morally perfect (holy) God who oversees His creation and acts rightly in all things to accomplish His will. I think that
RonS
How do the first two sentences of Hezekiah's prayer (verse 15) correspond to the first sentence of the Lord's Prayer? He is give honor and praise to the Father. This set the relationship between him and the Father in the right order. God is to be high and lifted up and Hezekiah is humbled. How are they important to faith? To have great faith we need to have a view of God that he is all powerful. Also that he has a loving plan for our lives that is better then anything we could come up with on our own. Then we can easily submit to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. How are they important to God answering the prayer? God says to come boldly to throne. How can anyone have bold prayer if they have small faith or a week view of who God is? Katzen
"Our Father who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name"...it's only worded differently in Hezekiah's prayer, but says the same thing. Our faith can only be as big as our vision of God. I think our prayers can be answered in proportion to our praise.
sunilbernard
Q2. (19:15) How do the first two sentences of Hezekiah's prayer (verse 15) correspond to the first sentence of the Lord's Prayer? How are they important to faith? How are they important to God answering the prayer? Hezekiah recognised the Lord God for who He really is, just as Jesus Christ knew God. He is the Lord of Hosts, dwelling in the most High places, exalted and lifted high among men. That is the due place to be given to God in our worship time and in our practical living. Recognising God for who He is and what He does in our lives add to the increase of our faith life. Our faith in a God who is above all and who can do anything for His children. When our faith in this God is unshakeable, God honors those prayers and answers them. In effect, we learn to pray in the will of God knowing that God who is the supreme ruler and controller of all things, will surely honor a prayer of faith. ajtmaestro71
Q2. (19:15) How do the first two sentences of Hezekiah's prayer (verse 15) correspond to the first sentence of the Lord's Prayer? How are they important to faith? How are they important to God answering the prayer? The first two sentences of Hezekiah's prayer correspond to the first sentence of the Lord's Prayer because they set the tone for the rest of the prayer. He establishes the fact that God dwells in heaven, high above all that is going on in Hezekiah's situation. He is magnifying God, making Him appear larger than the problem for which Hezekiah is requesting help.
stsandy
Witout true recognition of oru allmighty father it is not possible to give him all glory, praise and adoration. Look to the hills from whence our help cometh. Our prayers must be directed to the one true God, and this recognition refocuses the prayer towards him who is able to answer his prayers. It also appeals to the nature of God as we acknowledge hi in all his fullness. Our Intimate knowledge of him revealed through our appeals
Helenmm
If we are making request of anyone for anything it is important to acknowledge who they are and the authority they have. We have the privilege of addressing God as "Our Father" (including the concept of Our Creator), then acknowledging His ownership in Heaven, His supremacy over all things including us. Hezekiah is careful to give God the glory and do the same as Jesus later instructed us to do in the Lord's prayer. God is Truth and onlly ooperates in Truth. Therefore we need to acknowledge His truthful position when we take the privilege of addressing Him. We, through the blood of Jesus are participants in Truth, in Heaven, and constantly need to state the grounds, more for our benefit that God's. Like God's, our words are very creative. They establish our path through life. We need constantly to verbally state the authority of God so that it is established in our hearts and minds permanently and indelibly. Therefore we constantly state the authority of God in the creation. The fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. The righteous (Christ is our righteousness!) man knows his place before God and gives voice to it with joy. It is the first part of establishing the prayer relationship with Father. King David praised God constantly and acknowledged His authority. Hezekiah did it. Jesus taught it. It is the acceptable pattern of prayer for the Christian. "Enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise." Jesus is enthrond on the praises of His people. We need always to enthrone Him to give Him a presence amongst us. Without His throne there is no cause for His presence, no hearing our prayers. He only comes by invitation. The invitation neds to be loud and clear! Helen Spaulding
Q2. (19:15) How do the first two sentences of Hezekiah's prayer (verse 15) correspond to the first sentence of the Lord's Prayer? How are they important to faith? How are they important to God answering the prayer? They both show the awesome majesty of God and bow in humble submission to Him! I had not noticed before that Hezekiah referred to Judah as Israel, keeping the Jewish nation still as the nation that God said would bring forth the Messiah! Interesting. This awareness of God's majesty and the need for submission to Him is basic to our faith in Him. Why would we bow to anything less, when He, in His majestic power and might has shown He wants us as His children? I don't understand why He wants us when we constantly disobey and ignore His commands, but He does! How grateful I am! If we do not know and acknowledge God's glory and might, how can we expect anything from Him in response? What would be the use of praying to an impotent god, like those man-made gods of long ago? Or our self-made "gods" of today? No man-made god can do anything! Praise His Name! He is God and there is no other!
Nancy Decker
The recognition of the child of God as to who is to be revered and honored and glorified because of the position God the Father has over all creation, is what Jesus and Hezekiah both did in a similar manner. They did not position themselves above God their Father, and Jesus was God in human form! They gave Glory to their Father and His authority over them realizing from whom all their blessings flow and who had the Power to answer their prayers. Our prayers which are directed in faith to our Faithful, Loving, Understanding, Merciful Forgiving Father make it possible for us to come boldly to His throne, for we KNOW Him and have confidence that He hears our prayers, and will direct them according to His will....which in essence is our will also, when we become one in Him through His Holy Spirit
maggiemuggins
Q2. How do the first two sentences of Hezekiah's prayer correspond to the first sentence of the Lord's Prayer? He is confirming that his belief is in One God. One God over heaven and earth. How are they important to faith? We have to believe in one God, one Creator, one Heaven and Earth, or our faith is idle and unimportant to God. How are they important to God answering the prayer? If our faith is not strong enough to believe that God can do all things, then why would we expect God to answer our prayer?

TennLady01
Q2. (19:15) How do the first two sentences of Hezekiah's prayer (verse 15) correspond to the first sentence of the Lord's Prayer? They both say there is only one God and that he created heaven and earth. How are they important to faith? Faith in God says we believe there is only one God and we serve him with all our being. We know he is in control of all things and will be in control because he has created all things. He is Lord God almighty. How are they important to God answering the prayer? Jesus taught us the Lords Prayer because he was ask how to pray. He started off saying who God is and what he reigns over. This is how we enter our prayers into the throne room of God with praise for he is worthy. We need always to praise him to lift God up for he is worthy of all Praise then we shall receive from him time to place our petitions before him. God is the same yesterday today and forever we need to praise him for his love his mercy and all that he is. Holy and Righteous, God is love, mercy and grace we need to talk to him as our friend giving him praise always.

sandieh
Both prayers begin with Our God who is in Heaven! Because God sits enthroned above the earth, and is the creator and Lord of it all, we can have faith that God will watch over and protect that which is His! It acknowledges that we know who is in cointrol, and on whom we rely!!!!
ekila
Q2. (19:15) How do the first two sentences of Hezekiah's prayer (verse 15) correspond to the first sentence of the Lord's Prayer? Hezekiah's Prayer: And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD: "O LORD, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. The Lords Prayer: Our Father Who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. In the the two instance of prayer, each is showing us the pattern which is to be prayed and we tell god that we praise him, adore him and all honor and glory be to him alone and none other. How are they important to faith? This is a confession of faith and it is important that we declare to his holiness, the almighty and the living God as a confirmation and proclamation of our faith. How are they important to God answering the prayer? It is important to pray in patterns we are shown where prayers have had an effect and that they were ansewered. God is an orderly God and he likes to see us organised with our prayers. How he answer is his business; but ours is to demonstrate faith; that which was given to us by God; that which is to be used in our conversations with God. Rebekia
The to lines are synomynous because the both reconizes God for who he is (The Father.)They are very important without faith its' impossible to please God let alone know who he is. When we pray we must acknowledge the Father for who he is , we have to let him hnow that we know that he is the God of the universe and the heaven he is our substainer. Roberta
Q2. I like what it says in The Message" God, God of Israel, seated in majesty on the cherubim-throne. You are the one and only God, sovereign over all kingdom on earth. Maker of heaven and maker all earth. Open your ear, God and listen, open your eyes and look. In both instance of prayer each sho, that we praise Him, Adore Him, and Hollow His name above all names. It is by Faith that we pray believing that he will answer all our prayers, when we praise and thank him it is pleasing to him.

lee trainor
The first two sentences of Hezekiah's prayer are ackowledging that he knows who God really is. Hezekiah is showing the Lord that he has complete faith in him. That he alone is holy, and is the God of everyone and everything. The principal here is reverance and total faith. The way we can apply this principal to our own lives is, not to try to solve our problems alone, but to give them to God, and trust that he will always take care of us. When we try to do it on our own, without God, we are not walking in faith. We are not doing the will of God, we are doing our own will!.
