jacquie7
Matt 26:53 is a favorite verse of mine because Jesus clearly lets everyone know that if He wanted, He could have taken out every demon spirit that was attacking Him from the time He was captured in the Garden to the time He was put on the Cross. But, prophecy had to be fulfilled. God’s plan for redemption had to happen and He loves us so much that He laid down His life to save us. Though Jesus didn’t call the heavenly hosts to His defense, believers know for a fact that they were dressed and ready for battle and always will be when Jesus the Commander-in-Chief calls. He already defeated Satan by dying on the Cross and rising from the dead. Therefore, when the time comes for Him finally annihilate Satan and his forces, Jesus will call on the heavenly hosts, they will be dressed in white linen and they will follow Him on white horses. csreeves
Q3. (Matthew 26:53) Why did Jesus not call on the heavenly host in the Garden of Gethsemane? What happens when does he does call on the heavenly hosts? (Revelation 19:11-16) Jesus wouldn't call on anything the devil tempted him with for he already knew the end of the story that he wins. Also he is going to die as an example to us for our sins.
gracenglory10
Jesus died alone on the cross. He was forsaken by all including God the Father. This is one battle He had to fight alone. When he does call on them, the whole host of heaven's army are at His disposal, immediately there and totally obedient. He is the Lord God of Warrior Hosts. donald101
Q3. (Matthew 26:53) Why did Jesus not call on the heavenly host in the Garden of Gethsemane? Because this is a battle that He had to fight alone. The Righteousness for the unrighteousness, to bring us to God, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. What happens when does he does call on the heavenly hosts? (Revelation 19:11-16) The armies of the heavens will follow Him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.
jessicarenaemyers
In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus could have easily called on the armies in heaven to come to His rescue. But that was not His Father's will. This battle had to be fought and won by Jesus Christ alone. He had to die for me to live. However, when He does call on the army of Heaven it will be a time of Jesus Christ rightfully claiming what is His. The angels are ready, just waiting on His command. Isn't it overwhelming to think about?! That our God is that magnificent and the powerful. It gives me chills. How awesome that a God that powerful not only knows who I am but also loves me unconditionally.
Guitar Jim
Q3. (Matthew 26:53) Why did Jesus not call on the heavenly host in the Garden of Gethsemane? Jesus was born to live as an example to us on how to live and to die for us so that we might have eternal life. If Jesus had called on the armies of the Heavenly Host, He would not have been crucified and there would be no salvation! God's plan was for Jesus to die on the cross and to be raised from death, victorious, on the third day. That's the way it had to happen to fulfill God's word. For hundreds of years God's prophets had foretold these things and during His time on earth Jesus made sure those prophecies would be fulfilled. Notice too, that Jesus said He could call on His Father and He would put at his disposal more than twelve legions of angels. While He was on earth as a human being Jesus couldn't call on the armies of heaven. When on earth Jesus was made "for a time, a little lower than the angels" in order for HIm to be truly human in every way. Jesus had just finished praying to God that if possible he might not have to go through the suffering that was to come in just a few hours' time. "Yet not my will but Thine be done". God wouldn't have sent them, because Jesus had just re-affirmed His commitment to going through with His sacrifical death. What happens when does he does call on the heavenly hosts? (Revelation 19:11-16) That's gonna happen at the time of the final battle. Jesus will be victorious in His Father's name. No one and nothing can stand against the heavenly host with Jesus as its commander. We see some examples of the armies of God acting on behalf of Israel in the Old Testament. They won decisive victories by supernatural means.
goddychowio
Why did Jesus not call on the heavenly host in the Garden of Gethsemane? Jesus Christ could not call the heavenely host as this was a battle he must fight alone. He was the Lamb of God to be crucified alone for the sins of the world, the Righteous for the unrighteous, to bring us to God, to take away the sin of the world What happens when does he does call on the heavenly hosts? (Revelation 19:11-16) Jesus Christ defeats the armies of the Anti-Christ, the Beast that rules the earth. He leads the host of heaven to establish His rule on earth where He will rule with an iron scepter.
Hester Brandow
Q3. (Matthew 26:53) Why did Jesus not call on the heavenly host in the Garden of Gethsemane? What happens when does he does call on the heavenly hosts? (Revelation 19:11-16) God had a savings plan for mankind which Jesus knew from the beginning of all time! The promises and prophesies made through all the ages had to be fulfilled! In the garden, under terrible, terrible stress, He knew He had to submit to the Fathers will and plan. He had to focus, at that moment, on the end purpose of the suffering, therefore He had to endure and give Himself, alone, so that man can be saved and God be glorified! The once and for ALL sacrifice ! Even though the heavenly army was standing ready, waiting for the call, He had to die, alone! When Jesus does call on the heavenly hosts, they will be ready! It is the one almighty war the heavenly hosts are waiting for, the war in which The Faithful, Loyal, Incorruptible, Almighty All-Ruler, King of kings will strike and overpower the beast and nations because of their moral degradation, defeat, kill and conquer ALL evil !! Praise, honour and glory be to God !
Majjinniss4
Jesus did not called on the Heavenly hosts in the garden because it was God's plan to save mankind through his sufering and death. He did not call on the hosts so that prophecy may be fullfilled as it is written. When Jesus calls on the Heavenly hosts in Revelation 19:11-16 is when he comes to judge and makes war with the antichrist and followers. JanMary
Names of God, lesson 2 Mathew 26:53 Q3: Why did Jesus not call upon the heavenly host in the Garden of Gethsemane? This battle must be fought and won alone....to the death, so that all who believe and receive His gift of salvation may have eternal life and freedom from the bondage of sin. What happens when He does call on the Heavenly hosts? Rev 19:11-16? This is the final battle....and Jesus is the Commander, riding victoriously on a white horse leading the charge. This battle is one of judgement and wrath, from which there is no escape. He is the one Who does battle in this war. The army is the raptured saints fresh from the 7 year marriage supper of the Lamb, His bride, birthed at the cross, clothed in white linen, dazzling and clean. (robes of righteousness which were cleansed by His blood.) Just as he was the Victor in fighting our battles while here on earth, He is the One fighting this last battle...with His Words! (He spoke into being all that He created in the beginning...His words will now bring destruction to all who rejected the Cross. His bride will not fight in this battle. We will be observers, as Moses was in the battle where his rod was held high by others. But we will be with Him...joined with Him for eternity. (V15: "From HIS MOUTH goes forth a sharp sword with which He can smite the nations, and He will shepherd and control them with a staff (scepter, or rod) of iron. He will tread the winepress of the wrath and indignation of God the Omnipotent. (He took the wrath of God I deserved, on Himself at the Cross. This wrath is only for all who rejected His gift.) V21: And the rest were killed with the sword that issues from the MOUTH of Him Who is mounted on the horse, and all the birds fed ravenously and glutted themselves with their flesh. Paula Price
Jesus was not doing his will but the will of his father, who sent him. Had he called for help he would have been going against his father's will. For it was God's will that Jesus die for the sins of the world. He was the only way for man to be redeemed from sin back to God. Jesus knew that he could call for help and it would have been provided but that was not the plan!!! "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have every lasting life... for God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved"... The scriptures would not have been fulfilled had Jesus called on the heavenly host, for every time Jesus ask of the father, it was given. Even in his weakest hour during his prayer in the garden he asked that the cup be passed from him but never-the -less, not my will but thy will be done. He never claimed anything he did but always gave glory to the will of God his father. He knew he was doing the will of God in all things. Watchman's Heart
Jesus did not call on the heavenly host because of us. He was sent to be the sacrificial lamb for us, to restore us to a right relationship with the Father. His deliverance by the heavenly host would have assured our damnation as the heavenly host is there to do His bidding. They would have destroyed all that were fighting against their Commander. They would have possibly annihilated the very creation God sought to save.
Rosesam
Q3. (Matthew 26:53) Why did Jesus not call on the heavenly host in the Garden of Gethsemane? What happens when does he does call on the heavenly hosts? (Revelation 19:11-16) In the book of Genesis we see a man called Adam in a garden, the Garden of Eden. But there he willingly gave up his dominion over to satan. But then we see in the Garden of Gethsemane another man, who is also called the last Adam, who if He wanted could have called the heavenly host for His rescue. But He didn't, for this war that He was waging, which started at the Garden of Gethsamane and culminated on the Cross of Calvary, was against sin and to take back all that the usurper had taken from Adam. He had to go through this battle by Himself. During His temptation, satan offered Him a shortcut of falling down and worshiping him, whereby he promised that he would give Jesus all the kingdoms of the world. But Jesus refused then, and was determined to carry out what His Father had entrusted Him to the very end. And when He cried on the cross "tetelestai", it was finished. He emerged victorious over satan, sin and death and now He holds the keys of death and Hades. This He had to do it alone. If salvation was possible by any other means, God wouldn't have said way back in Genesis 3:15 that the Seed of the woman will crush the serpent's head. In Revelation 19, we do not see the suffering Messiah, but the conquering Messiah. When He comes to possess what is rightfully His, He will come with armies of heaven in white horses. I believe this host are the saints who return with Him, for in Jude it says Behold the Lord cometh with ten thousands of His saints. For the Lord does not need angels to assist Him in destroying the enemy. 2 Thess 2:8 says When the lawless one is revealed, He destroys the enemy by the breath of His mouth and destroy by the splendor of His coming. One angel is all that is required to bind satan with chains in the bottomless pit.
av4Jesus
On 2/15/2006 at 5:43 AM, Pastor Ralph said: Q3. (Matthew 26:53) Why did Jesus not call on the heavenly host in the Garden of Gethsemane? What happens when does he does call on the heavenly hosts? (Revelation 19:11-16) Jesus did not call on the heavenly host in the Garden of Gethsemane because He knew that He had to fight that battle alone. If God sent the heavenly host down to save Him, He would not have died on the cross and subsequently would not have saved us from our sins. We would not be given salvation and would never be able to enter God's kingdom. But Jesus loved us so much, He was willing to die for the entire world and faced the battle on His own. Revelation 19:11-16 shows Jesus as a conqueror and a commander. He is there to fight a battle again, but this time He has gathered His armies together to fight with Him. So when He calls on the heavenly hosts this time, He's come to win the war against satan. In His first coming, He brought the world salvation and in His second coming, He will bring judgement. Lottie
Jesus did not call on the heavenly host to come and protect Him because He was doing what the Father wanted. He had given over His will for the Father's. And He had to go through the scourging, and the cross in order that all humanity might be saved,. If He had called angels down then He would have thwarted what God wanted to happen. And mankind would have no Savior or way of salvation. Then the armies of heaven followed Him and they were riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen. Here He was coming as a King and coming to rule and reign and put down the oppresors. Mona Burton
John 7: 30 states "Then they sought to take Him: but no man laid hands on Him, because His hour was not yet come." Jesus did not call on the heavenly host in the garden of Gethsemane because 'His hour' had now come. Acts 2: 23 "Him being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God..." That which He had come to do, now had to be done. Calling on the heavenly host to stop the religious people and their band wagon would have been contrary to Isaiah 53: 7 "He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth." Jesus' mission to earth was to die for degenerate man in order to regenerate him, so, He did not call. When Jesus does call on the heavenly host (Rev.19: 11 - 16) judgement will be executed (Rev. 19: 15 ... He smites the nations...) on the enemies of God (Rev. 19: 19 - 21) and their revolt will be put down.
Francis Okechukwu
Jesus did not call on the heavenly host because He understand that the battle is not to be won with military might. It's a battle He and him alone will fight and won alone through perseverance and submission to the will of the father. He will call on the heavenly host in his return on the day of judgement. Jonathan Edwards
Jesus Christ had to finish the work of Atonement. His precious blood had tobe shed for our sins and healing for our bodies (Isaiah 53). The sitting stone prophecy of Daniel 2:35 was to be fulfilled in Revelation 19. At that time would the gentile world power be defeated and the Beast be smitten by the stone cut without hands (Daniel 2:34-35). At Megiddo, there will be the Great battle in which the Lord will deliver the Jewish remnant. This battle is the first event of the day of Jehovah (Isaiah 2:12) and is the fulfillment of the smiting-stone prophecy of Daniel 2:35,
