Masthead Design

Recommended Posts

As we develop a new ABCW.org website, we need to consider the "masthead" or graphic at the top of the pages. What identity do we want to project?

You can see the current masthead on our test area.

Identity could include geographic region (Golden Gate Bridge, Yosemite Falls, Central Valley farming) or church buildings, or people engaged in worship, or baptism, etc. Probably the current masthead is too mixed and needs a more focused identity.

Should a logo appear on the masthead?

I really like look of the pictures in the masthead like it is. I like the golden gate bridge, mountains, maybe adding something that identifies Northern Nevada (other than neon signs). I like the idea of representing churches, baptisms and maybe church planting. I am not sure how you do all of that in the one masthead successfully.

We are developing a logo that will have our three circles and the words "Growing Healthy Churches . . . through reproducing Churches, Disciples, Leaders." I am wondering if we were to use the masthead and then have the logo the lead piece under the masthead or off to the right side highlighting our focus would it look okay? Seem like it might.

I may be off base on this but it also seems like we might want to reverse the size of the lettering to have the Growing Healthy Churches the larger print and the American Baptist Churches of the West the smaller. I believe it might better represent us.

I think our logo needs to be on the masthead.

I agree that the current masthead needs clarity/indenity. I think our purpose of reproduction clearly directs us that we need to have picutres of people on the masthead, engaging in baptism, prayer, worship, discipleship relationships, etc.

Our vision and purpose need to be eye catching as well.

I think the masthead is great. The Black guy on the right side in the green suit must stay!!! ;)

The Logo should be part of the masthead--to the right, left or embedded with the rest of the pics. By the way, Ralph, how did you make the masthead (photoshop? or some such other program--it's great work (even with me in it!))? Is it possible for the masthead to fit the entire page (currently it is shorter in width)?
