mags
We were created to do good words so that people may see our light and praise our Father in Heaven. These works are done as a result of our faith - we have been saved and so are changed from the inside out to be Christlike. They come from a desire to do God's will - rather than a desire for self (to get to heaven etc). It is not the good works that save us but being saved gives us the desire to do good works! Elisabeth
Q3. According to Ephesians 2:10, what were we created to do? Why? (Matthew 5:16) What is the difference between these works and the works Paul discredits in verse 9? We are created to glorify God, and others may see Jesus in us through the works that we do. These works are not acts of charity that people may see 'us'; all acts of this nature deflect from God's glory. We are in Christ, and because we are in Him, and He is in us, the works of Christ will be evident. Works can often be construed only as 'acts' of kindness, charity etc (and in themselves works are the works of Christ) but these works are more than this. They are faith in God completely, which is turn produces works which cause men to see something much greater than us. They see the power of God, indeed we become invisible and greater the work, and God becomes more visible.
wunway4u2
Man's sole purpose of being created is to love and worship God. To work and obey what he commands. All the religions of the world are about earning God's favor or God's merit and a right to heaven by what we do for GOD. However, that is not the way it works. Mans way of works to earn heaven; begs the question(s) when did you do enough to get you into heaven? What happens if you sin? How many of your good works then get erased? Who decides the merit of your works? Who is doing the screening? Since there is nothing we can do or say to erase our sins or guilt we need a savior and we have that in Jesus. We are saved by his work on the cross. NOW we do good works out of gratitude and thankfullness for being saved from a peril and destiny that is so horrible that words cannot describe the magnatitude of the pain and hopelessness for those who are all lost now in eternity. Being on the verge of constant insanity, hearing the pain, fear, gnashing of teeth, having demons tormenting you, no relief, no sleep, no water, no hope of escape, knowing you had a chance not to be where you now, forever. THANK YOU JESUS FOR DYING FOR ME. FOR SUFFERING FOR MY SINS SO THAT I MAY BE WITH YOU IN HEAVEN. THANK YOU, THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!! So now I serve with a greatful heart. I worship with a greatful heart. WOW what an AMAZING GOD WE SERVE!!!!

edler
Q3. According to Ephesians 2:10, what were we created to do? Why? (Matthew 5:16) What is the difference between these works and the works Paul discredits in verse 9? our action will change.paul referred to us as Gods. workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works. we are God's workmanship , God creation. Jesus in matthew 5:16) we are reconciled for good works. that is the bibical pattern of how a person can be restored to a right relationship with God. paul in v9) Grace comes first and then faith responds to it. Grace is what God does. faith is our respondse to what God has done.
Vicki Higgins
According to Ephesians 2:10, we were created to do good works so that others will see and glorify God. The difference between these works and the works Paul discredits in verse 9 is these works are to bring God glory, not ourselves.
JanMary
Q3. According to Ephesians 2:10, what were we created to do? Why? (Matthew 5:16) We were recreated in Jesus to do those good works which God predestined for us, taking paths which He prepared ahead of time that we should walk in them, living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live (Amplified), so that our light so shine before men that they may see our moral excellence and our praiseworthy, noble and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify our Father Who is in Heaven. (Amplified) What is the difference between these works and the works Paul discredits in verse 9? These works in verse 9, are the works of the flesh...useless works to fulfill the Law's demands which we as believers have been delivered from through Jesus shed blood for us. We don't work for our Salvation...Jesus fulfilled every demand. We are just simply to receive God's gift through faith, since we can never earn it through any self effort. The works in V. 10, follow our free gift of Salvation, as we walk out our new life in Christ..."working out our Salvation" unto God's glory, not to try to glorify ourselves. hanks
Q3. According to Ephesians 2:10, what were we created to do? Why? (Matthew 5:16) What is the difference between these works and the works Paul discredits in verse 9? Through our union with Jesus Christ, we are a new creation (2Cor 5:17). We were not saved by good works; we were saved for good works. We do not work in order to be saved; we work because we are saved. In Matthew 5:16 we read that the reason we do good works is to let our light shine. People will then see our good works, and these will then glorify our Father in heaven. The good works we are expected to do are those that God has prepared us beforehand to do. It is our responsibility to find His will for us and to then obey it. Paul H
Q3. According to Ephesians 2:10, what were we created to do? Why? (Matthew 5:16) We were created to do good works, for the purpose, according to Matthew 5:16 of praising God. What is the difference between these works and the works Paul discredits in verse 9? As I see it, the good works which James is talking about are a fruit of our faith, they flow from and are a natural consequence of our faith rather than the works which Paul is talking about. The works which Paul is discrediting are an end in themselves - follow these rules and it doesn't matter what else you believe and irrespective of whether you have faith, you will be saved. I liked Pastor Ralph's refernce to Abraham in this. In Abraham we see absolute faith which gives rise to action. That is what both Paul and James are talking about. (Matthew 5:16) What is the difference between these works and the works Paul discredits in verse 9? We were created to do good works and for the purpose of glorifying God. We are to let our light that the saving grace of Christ has givin us shine so others may see the wonderful power and mercy of our God. When we do good works and humble ourselves knowing it is Christ in us doing this it glorifies God but when we boast it glorifies self and we do nothing of ouselves! LadyP
Q3. According to Ephesians 2:10, what were we created to do? Why? (Matthew 5:16) What is the difference between these works and the works Paul discredits in verse 9? We are his workmanship; we were created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God has ordained that we walk in. The difference is works of man cannot merit Salvation or boast in his own ability and strength. Paul however was speaking that we are to boast only in the Cross. The only way that we can overcome the world, is by placing our Faith exclusively in the Cross of Christ and keeping it there.
Laurie S
Q3. According to Ephesians 2:10, what were we created to do? Why? Paul says we were created to do good works because God has prepared us in advance to do them. Matthew 5:16 tells us that it glorifies God. What is the difference between these works and the works Paul discredits in verse 9? Paul is talking about following the law to earn salvation in v. 9. He is dispelling the Jewish ideology of the time that salvation can be earned by following the law.
SweetZippy
Q3. According to Ephesians 2:10, what were we created to do? Why? (Matthew 5:16) What is the difference between these works and the works Paul discredits in verse 9? We are created to do His work, for His glory; these works are always good; these works shine; these works are a testament to God's handiwork. We are God's handiwork. When we do works in our own strength, we will boast. When we do God's works by His Spirit, we are not "doing" we are "being" in the likeness of His Son, co-heirs with Christ, and our light will shine as the resurrection power of Jesus works through us. Jubilee
Q3. According to Ephesians 2:10, what were we created to do? Why? (Matthew 5:16) What is the difference between these works and the works Paul discredits in verse 9? According to Ephesians 2:10, we were created to special "good work." Why? Because we have been prepared in advance by having been given particular aptitudes, special spiritual sensitivities, unique abilities -- special gifts -- which equip or prepare us to fulfill our destiny here on earth. The difference between these works (Matthew 5:16) and the works Paul discredits in verse 9 is that Paul laid much emphasis that our good works should follow and not the other way around. Our actions should reflect who we are in Christ and not follow the letter of the law blindly. Matthew 5:16 backed up Paul's teachings in verse 9. We should allow the light of God to permeate every fiber of our Christian life and by this people will know we are truly workmanship of God. (Matthew 5:16) What is the difference between these works and the works Paul discredits in verse 9? 1. We were created as Gods own handiwork, recreated in Christ that we may do the good works which God predestined us to do. 2. The reason we were recreated through Christ is to walk in His ways and enjoy the life He has for us. 3. Paul refers to the works the religious leaders had established because they believed by good works they could obtain their salvation. We are to do works that are energized by or an outflow from our faith.
Ramon1
1.According to Eph 2:10 what we were created to?Why? We were created to do good works.however let us not rushed out and define this work as a root but rather a fruit ofnour being born again. Most of the time we forced the newly born again christian to produce the work..otherwise we accused them of being false christian, because we reason out, faith without works is dead..making the whole born again eperience a sham, and another "do this" don't do this religious yoke. The good works in us, is a result of us being born again, just like an apple,it would produce apple as a fruit and not orange in DUE TIME. JoanG
God created us to do His works here on earth. He gave us the skills, the talents, and the spiritual gifts that we need to excel in our life with Him and for Him. One can say that He groomed us to be His hands and feet here on earth. The difference is that in working for God we have His love and grace. When we try to do things to win God's graces, we fall short of what God wants us to do. We fail to show God that we are worthy of His grace. We fail to live our lives according to God's will.
