hanks
Q3. (Ephesians 2:17) What does it mean to have "access to the Father"? Jesus has removed the barrier, due to our sin, that existed between God and us. A state of peace now exists between God and believers, and we now have access at any time into the presence of God. This is in sharp contrast to the OT times when only the high priest could go into the Holy of Holies, the place of God's presence. And he could enter there on only one day of the year. It is such a blessing and privilege to think that we can through prayer have direct access to our Heavenly Father
Sasquatch
Q3. (Ephesians 2:17) What does it mean to have "access to the Father"? Christians have a special access to God not granted to others. In what way does the Holy Spirit facilitate this access? Jesus taught an exclusive relationship with God through the Holy Spirit which results in answered prayer and spiritual power. In what way does Jesus enable this access? The world resists and resents the exclusivity of this relationship which is taught in the Scripture. However, people still need to embrace Christ and the gospel with faith to be able to come to God. poetmom
As a Christian living in the US with all its associated resources and comforts, it is quite difficult to imagine what it would be like to only hope to access a bit of the Father through rituals and good works. We have shelves full of books and Bibles in our house, a church on every corner, and Bible studies throughout the community. Often I don't come to God out of pure laziness! I want that awe and joy rekindled: I can talk directly to the creator of the universe with no fear, condemnation, or shame!

In what way does Jesus enable this access? It means that we are able to communicate with God at any time. We do this through Christ as our intermediary and are enabled to make the communication by the Holy Spirit. To give a crude but human analogy, the Holy Spirit is the hand set and Christ is the exchange!

SweetZippy
Q3. (Ephesians 2:17) What does it mean to have "access to the Father"? In what way does the Holy Spirit facilitate this access? In what way does Jesus enable this access? Accessing the Father is not just looking upon His brilliant form , but knowing Him as our father; he gives us good gifts! We need to remember that "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the father of the heavenly lights", John 1:17. As we spend time with our father we will approach the throne room with boldness, knowing that He will impart His holy spirit to us. The Holy Spirit is His gift to us. We can only do this because Jesus made us joint heirs with him.

JenniferLynn
We are able to come into the presence of God with confidence knowing we can ask anything in Christ's name & He will do it. The Holy Spirit allows us to groan our question to the Father. He is our interpretor so that we can understand what God is saying & what we are saying to God. Jesus Christ is our go between & the reason we have access to God at all.
Old Jerry
The meaning of having “access to the Father” is that we can go to him at anytime. He is available to us when ever and where ever we want to talk to him. We do not have to go through a priest to talk to him. The way that the Holy Spirit facilitates this is to help us when we don’t know what to say. And the way that Jesus enabled this access was that he died on the cross as our perfect sacrifice and is now sitting at the right hand of God and intercedes for us. gricha1
Jesus Christ, with His death on the cross has made it possible for us to go directly to the Father with our prayers. We have no need for a go-between. We were brought near through Jesus. Communication with the Father is on the spiritual level, our spirit through His Spirit. Because of Christ work we can come boldly before the thrown. 2. the Holy Spirit facilitates this access by giving us full confidence and trust in faith that our prayers are heard and answered. 3. JoanG
To have "access to the Father" means that we are able to talk directly to Him. We no longer have to stand on the outside of the curtain area and hope that the High Priest can really portray our desires with justice before God. the Holy Spirit is a direct link to God at any moment. We have been blessed and given the Grace of God when we were given the Holy Spirit to help us and guide us in our daily lives. The Holy Spirit is an internal guide to help us live as sons and daughters to God. Jesus enabled this access by dying on the cross for us. Because of our faith in Him, Jesus gave to us the Holy Spirit. This was a promise that he gave to his faithful disciples right from the start and he has graced us with the same promise. A state of peace now exists between God and believers, and we now have access at any time into the presence of God. It is such a blessing and privilege to think that we can through prayer have direct access to our Heavenly Father. We also have the Holy Spirit who helps us in prayer since we don’t always know what we should pray for. He is always there for us, to guide and intercede on our behalf. The Bible says in Romans 8:26, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express”. This is all made possible through our Lord Jesus Christ. He acted as Mediator between God and man. His death, burial, and resurrection removed every legal obstacle to our admission to God's presence. We approach God in His name; we have no worthiness of our own. Before the resurrection of Christ, men stood before God as creatures before the Creator. It is through the redemptive work of Jesus that we are looked upon as His children, and are therefore able to address God as Father.

Bianca
We have access to the Father because of what Jesus did. Jesus paid the price so we can have a real relationship with our Heavenly Father who is better than what any earthly father could have been to us. We love and honor our earthly father but there is no comparison to the love from Our Heavenly Father. The Holy Spirit lives in us gives us access to our Heavenly Father. Jesus paid the price and is the only way to The Father.
Krissi
What does it mean to have "access to the Father"? In what way does the Holy Spirit facilitate this access? In what way does Jesus enable this access? This was gutsy, Pastor Ralph! Much to ponder. 1. Many Christians resist the idea that the Jews are no longer the exclusive chosen people, preferring to think of themselves as "grafted" onto the original stock -- the stock stays the same, in this viewpoint. I've always thought this was wrong, that the meaning of salvation MUST be individualized, so that no group of people has a stronger claim to Jesus' work on the cross than other groups. It's not just Jews who think they're chosen, but many Christians cling to the idea that somehow, they're still set aside, remaining "special" in God's eyes. Here, in MT 21, it's quite clear that the Kingdom of God is no longer a Jewish monopoly, as you put it. We are one people in Christ. 2. The flip side of this is that as one people in Christ, we're separated as a group from those who do not believe in Him, including Jewish non-believers. This, too, flies against the beliefs of many good-hearted Christians who simply can't believe that God would 'condemn a good Muslim to hell' or some sort of rhetoric along that line. I sympathize, to a degree, with their concern because I've know many good people who are emphatically not Christian, and it's difficult to think that I (a lousy, struggling Christian) would be accepted into the Kingdom while they ("naturally" good, or at least better than I am) are condemned to hell. 3. It never thought about what happened to the prayers of those who are not Christian. God could choose to hear those prayers and answer them, like the benevolent monarch in your example, but more than likely, God does not. Their prayers go into the ether while our prayers are accepted -- given access. 4. Religious syncretism and the strange levelling of beliefs -- (have you heard the term "religionist" as if a Hindu is equivalent to a Christian) -- has produced nonsensical oddities like Bahai (combining all ...) and even Unitarians (denying exclusivity). I think that syncretism is a sign of apostacy and unbelief, that a syncretistic/universalistic person is one who has not accepted Christ and is therefore not in the Kingdom. Jonathan Edwards
The Ephesians knew that their prayers and other exercises that they were accepted of God. They feltl like as children of the Most High. Like the Ephesians, we need a Mediator; our inquiries have separated us from God. Christ our High Priest and Forerunner our Joshua, has brought us into the Holiest of Holies. There is now reconciliation between God and the worshipper. A congenial and yet most profound relationship. The Holy Spirit wroughts this happy assurance. The worshipper no longer gringes in fear; no more following the superstitions of idol worship. One can only imagine the bizarre religious practices that took place in the Temple of Diana. Asia Minor had a plethora of horrendous mystery religions. The new believers at Ephesians could shout the victory; Christ has set us free. This same Spirit is not Jewish nor Gentile. The Holy Spirit is the same for all; we were indeed chosen before the foundation of the world to live Holy and produce fruit. The same Holy Spirit wrought the same fellowship with God. Old Jerry
The meaning of having “access to the Father” is too able to go to Him at any time and in any place. We can petition Him at any time and in any place. If we don’t know what to pray for then the Holy Spirit will do it for us with moans and grunts. Jesus enabled this access by sending down the Holy Spirit and we can tell God that it was in Jesus’ name that we are praying to Him.
