Q4. What does Ephesians 3:12 teach us about the manner of approaching God? What happens if we try to pray without these qualities?

Ephesians 3:12 teaches us about the manner of approaching God in freedom and wonder of our relationship with the Almighty God through faith.

We "commoners" have access to come before the King of the Universe with our petitions and our hearts of praise (Ephesians 2:18). We are not to be timid before God. We can be confident of his favor and love. He delights in us.

If we try to pray without these qualities we will not be able to have a solid foundations in God and our prayer life will be built on sand.

Ephesians 3:12 teaches us that we can approach God with freedom and confidence. If we try to pray without these qualities then we aren’t sure that He is really God or maybe we don’t believe that Jesus died for our sins and that He is standing at the right hand of God.

What does Ephesians 3:12 teach us about the manner of approaching God?

In Christ by faith we now have the freedom to come with confidence before the Father to communicate with Him and worship Him at any time we so desire. And the good news is that the Father looks forward to His people coming into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise on their lips.

What happens if we try to pray without these qualities?

Without Christ we have no access to the Father; and Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that without faith it's impossible to please God. So, to come before the Father without these qualities, our efforts would be futile.

Q4. What does Ephesians 3:12 teach us about the manner of approaching God? What happens if we try to pray without these qualities?

Eph.3:12 teaches us that because of faith in Jesus Christ, we can now come boldly to the throne of God it self with our prayers and petitions. This freedom gives access to God with boldness and confidence, knowing that we may receive His mercy and grace to help us in our time of need. Also to worship, praise and extol God, to receive the love He has for us. This love assuring us our fellowship with Him.

To pray without these qualities of access, boldness and confidence, we are left with a feeling of emptiness, no knowing if our prayers are heard or not.

Some congregations try to use the spirits of the departed ones to get their prayers answered. The Lord is the only mediator between man God the Father.

We need to be confident when we approach God in prayer. We are to trust in God to answer our prayers. We have to believe that God wants to spend time with us. We have to be honest with him at all times. I believe that prayers will go unanswered if we do not approach God in the right ways. I feel that God can and does turn his back on people to teach them lessons.

That through faith in him we can approach the throne with boldness and confidence knowing he hears us.

If we don't have faith in him we will not have boldness or confidence to come before him, and our prayers will be hindered.

Q29. What does Ephesians 3:12 teach us about the manner of approaching God? What happens if we try to pray without these qualities?
The three important words here are access, boldness, and confidence. Our access is our liberty to speak to God in prayer. It could be a very frightening experience to come into the presence of our mighty God, but thanks to Christ, by faith we can enter directly into God's presence through prayer. We know we will be welcomed with open arms because we are God's children through our union with Christ. Since Christ Jesus is ours and we are his, bought with His blood, indwelt by His Spirit, we know that we have free and unrestricted access to the Father. Our boldness is the respectful attitude and absence of fear we have as children addressing their Father. Such boldness is possible only through our faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. Now we can and should approach Him without restraint, telling Him all our troubles, asking Him to help us in all our needs. Our confidence is the assurance of a welcome, a hearing, and a wise and loving answer. What an awesome privilege to be able to approach God with this freedom and confidence.

We can come to him boldly in faith and confidence.

He can by grace and mercy still hear and  respond to us.

When I read these passages, I fixated on the word "suffering." The last clause seemed to cap those prior, "... do not be discouraged because of my sufferings for you ..."

Here, Paul could be telling the Ephesian church a few reasons why he's suffered. They may have been concerned that a man as obviously used and gifted as Paul has been so hurt.  It's as if Paul were saying to them ...

  1.  -- Yes I'm suffering, but it's because God is using this suffering to make Himself known to this world and other spiritual orders.
  2. -- Yes, I'm suffering, but you can still approach God boldly (not worrying about what He may do to you) ...
  3. -- Yes, I'm suffering, but don't be discouraged because God will use (glorify) my sufferings for you.

Because of Christ and our faith in Him we can come boldly and confidently in God's presence.

We are not to be timid before God.  God has given to us His Spirit.  If we try to pray without these qualities we are ineffective and will not receive the mercy and grace to help in our time of need.

We can pray with boldness and confidence.  I love the Epistle to the Hebrews.   What a magnificent treatise on Christ our Priest, Prophet and King.   We have access to the Holiest of Holies:  we aren't Outer court Christains.  We are not bargain basement items in the sight of Yahweh.   Many Christains were never taught about their new found status in accordance with 1 Peter 2:9 and the Epistle to the Hebrews.   Witnessing and giving extemporaneous testimonies are so foreign to so many.   They lack ASSURANCE in their hearts;  their minds are full of doubts, maybe this maybe that.   They don't know about that divine love that characterizes the Lover and the Church in the Song of Solomon.

Sad but true....we end up in a rote state of formalism.   No enthusiasm no testimonies and no one getting saved.   The Ephesians had a new song in their hearts no doubt.   After years of idol worship and licentious worship in the Temple of Diana; they were set free and preached the Kerygma throughout the Ephesus area confirmed by signs and wonders.
