Ken7
We are all His 'works' in progress ...working out our Salvation day with him with fear and trembling. June
We need humility & patience in order to keep peace and grow in unity. No matter what we do or say we put the reputation of Christ on the line. We have been made in His image. We can agree to disagree but still be civil about it. When we have a good spirit about things people are much more apt to come into unity and agreement. Remembering the founding apostalic message (Bible), obey it and not let it be distorted, and keep God above all in the home and church helps to fight the good fight of faith. Not all will agree ever. We are all unique in our own right.
sahala p.s.
Q2. (Ephesians 4:2) Why are patience and humility so important to preserving unity? What happens to the reputation of Jesus Christ when we have right doctrine along with a sense of arrogance towards those who disagree with us? How are we to be both "gentle" and to "fight the good fight of faith"? Patience and humility are so important to preserving unity, because without them unity cannot be achieved. We cannot avoid conflict, because we each are different in many things. By out patience and humility, we can deal with conflict and unity might prevail When we have right doctrine along with a sense of arrogance towards those who disagree with us, the reputation of Jesus Christ will be low or bad. His humility and gentleness attracted people to come to him. Because He is gentle and humble, people will find rest for their souls. Those were the qualities or characteristics that Jesus applied in his days in the earth, that were different from other religion leaders did. Those are the qualities or characteristics that He wants to be had, taught and applied by his disciples now. To be both "gentle" and to "fight the good fight of faith", we must be patient, must bear with one another in love. We must stop fighting to change a person to have the same way of thinking and behaving like us, but allow him to be the Changer.
godsanointed523
It is important because humility and patience had shown the character of God in Jesus,we need to reflect those kind of characteristics if we want to be like Jesus in our daily lives. When we know how to be patient with others or with God then it is possible to achieve the unity in the churches. When we are humble and not filled with pride then we can be able in conjuction with patience then unity becomes more achievable. Along with arrogance and the right doctrine not only does it make us seem bad but also it does not give God all the Glory. When we say the right things but think that we know it all then it makes us seem like we are full of ourselves and that is not right in the sight of God.We have to live when we are Christians under the microscope of the world so we have to reflect God in all that we do,when we have arrogance then it makes God and Jesus look bad and that is not good. When we are going through something and i think that it has a deep affect on us then we need to be gentle with others. We should always fight the good fight of faith because the enemy goes about like a roaring lion seeking who he may devour. Jewell
Without patience and humility, pride (arrogance) gets in the way. Even with the right doctrine, arrogance creates dissidence. We must fight the good fight with love.
Joshua Ofosu Anim
Q2. (Ephesians 4:2) Why are patience and humility so important to preserving unity? What happens to the reputation of Jesus Christ when we have right doctrine along with a sense of arrogance towards those who disagree with us? How are we to be both "gentle" and to "fight the good fight of faith"? Patience will enable us to bear the deficiencies and faults of others without lashing at them or disassociating from them. Humility will make us serve others rather than they serving us. It will also make us respect others and live in harmony with them. Those who arrogantly look down on others because of a doctrine are a disgrace to christianity. In fact they have missed the mark of christianity. Gentleness is one of the fruits of the spirit (Gal. 5:19-22). Every believer must bear that fruit. It is possible to gentle and fight the good fight of faith by allowing God to be the only CHANGER of character.

pickledilly
Christ has established unity, or oneness, in assembling His Body. He essentially took a countless number of ragtag souls and joined them into one interdependent unit under His headship. Each of us, as a little part of that whole, bring with us our old flesh nature with all our individual expectations, assumptions, and faults. And we are all at differing levels of spiritual maturity as we individually learn how to integrate and function in that Body. So there is bound to be aggravation and annoyance as we deal with each other. It would be easy for those conflicts to wear us out and tear us down. Persevering without complaining and giving up self-pride are like lubrication to keep all the moving parts going without burning up in the heat of friction as we grow in Christlikeness together. Even with the right doctrine, according to 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 we are nothing and we gain nothing without the characteristic of love. If we harbor and display arrogance toward those who disagree with truth, we are misrepresenting Jesus Christ to those very people who need Him desperately. He is God, and God is love. And we become obstacles as hard-edged, overbearing, self-righteous judges. Who would want anything to do with a God who seems to turn people into something as obnoxious as that?! The Christian life demands tough determination and steadfastness to fight the good fight of faith. But that doesn't give any of us an excuse to be harsh, impolite, or abrupt with our fellow-believers. The unity of Christ's Body requires a steely core surrounded by the protective, cushiony bubble-wrap of love! A peacemaker seeks to uphold truth with the gentleness of love. Beadie
Without patience and humility, we will lose unity. If we are not able to be open to other people's thoughts and ideas, we will cause anger and strife. These lead to separation and discord, and cause conflict and divisiveness. Right doctrine with arrogance invalidates what we profess. We are not being either humb le or kind and that is against the right doctrine Jesus taught. Right doctrine alone will never replace love and service, the doctrine we are called to follow. How we live and serve is our witness. We reflect Jesus to the world. Arrogance would reflect Jesus incorrectly, and make our profession of faith appear to be a lie; worse, it would be a lie. To fight the good fight, we must spread the word and bring in disciples. But, we cannot force our faith just because we know it is right, we have to show our faith with love and with patience. A froceful attitude can turn someone off to the truth. We need to pray and be patient. Don't give up, get a partner, the Holy Spirit. We can show our witness as well as teach it -- we were called to be humble to serve and to love: "By this shall all men know you are my disciples, that you have love for one another." Suellen
It is so hugely important that we look at ourselves before we even look at someone else and realize our own faults and struggles that we go through each day, when we do that , how can we even look at someone with those arrogant views. Everyone is strugglin in one form or other and we have got to realize that and just keep on fighting and trusting and believing in God and his Desires for us, individually and let the rest take care of itself. Vicki Higgins
Patience and humility are so important to preserving unity because we can't be united with someone if we can't tolerate them or if we're too busy showing how great we are. When we have right doctrine along with a sense of arrogance towards those who disagree with us, the reputation of Jesus Christ gets tarnished. We are to be both "gentle" and "to fight the good fight of faith" by acting the way that Christ did.
JanMary
Q2. (Ephesians 4:2) Why are patience and humility so important to preserving unity? Patience and humility are qualities of acceptance...when we accept those around us, instead of trying to change them into "our image", so they'll be like us and we'll feel more comfortable, we are more apt to preserve unity. Trying to change others is futile (we should be asking the Lord to change us!), and leads to judging, a critical spirit, friction and disunity. What happens to the reputation of Jesus Christ when we have right doctrine along with a sense of arrogance towards those who disagree with us? We bring dishonor on Jesus, because we represent Him as being a proud Pharisee...the group he rebuked for those qualities. How are we to be both "gentle" and to "fight the good fight of faith"? Fighting the good fight of faith, doesn't mean fighting with other believers, or unbelievers either, for that matter. Again, fighting with others is trying to change them, or to change their opinion, and is rarely successful. A gentle spirit draws people to Jesus, because He is accepting and non threatening. We are to be as wise as serpents and as gentle as doves. Serpents don't look for a fight..just for their food. We can be gentle and still stand on our principles, speak the truth in love, and represent Jesus as He is, without fighting. Our fight/battle is with powers and principalities, and we wage warfare through prayer, fasting and standing on God's Word, taking authority over the powers of the air, not fighting with people. wifee
2a)To achieve unity we must continually seek humility & gentleness, as when any gp of people gather there will be potential conflict of views. If we are patient & long-suffering with each other recognising the God is the only changer,we should be able to work out a solution without disturbing the peace amongst us. We need to accept each other,&love them as Jesus did. b)If we are arrogant towards those that disagree with us,this is pride talking, and it will affect unbelievers, potentially hindering people accepting Christ as their saviour. Having right doctrine and not living according to the commands of Christ invalidates what you profess and Jesus is dishonoured. c) We can remain "gentle" and "fight the good fight of faith," when we resist the emotion of anger and not allow it to overcome us, but rather use the Word of God to ward off the advances of the enemy and live peaceably with everybody. Truth will set us free. If we apply the truth in every situation, gently, people will be able to let down their defences and receive it. If we come across someone who does not want to listen we do not walk away and stay away. We walk away and pray and fast and then return and return and return until the battle is won. We know it will be but we can not give up.

What happens to the reputation of Jesus Christ when we have right doctrine along with a sense of arrogance towards those who disagree with us? How are we to be both "gentle" and to "fight the good fight of faith"? 1. Why are patience and humility so important to preserving unity? They are important because if you do not have them, your pride and selfness will be in the way of us being followers of Jesus. 2, What happens to the reputation of Jesus Christ when we have a right doctrine along with a sense of arrogance towards those who disagree with us? What happens to Jesus Christ reputation is we would make it luke warm and will not be affected to those who are lost. We would get them and then lose them because of the arrogance (over beearing pride) being shown more that humility and patience. 3. How are we to be both "gentle and to "fight the good fight of faith". We do this by being patient and bearing with one another in love. Old Jerry
I think that patience and humility are so important to preserving unity because we are all different and we all annoy somebody at sometime. If we have patience and humility then we will be able to keep united in the church. If we have the right doctrine but have a since of arrogance toward those who disagree with us then some will see Jesus as divider rather than somebody that units us. The way that we can be both “gentle” and to “fight the good fight of faith” is to discuss the difference that we might have. If we keep it civil and show them in the bible the differences of our opinions then we both gain and learn more about Jesus.

What happens to the reputation of Jesus Christ when we have right doctrine along with a sense of arrogance towards those who disagree with us? How are we to be both "gentle" and to "fight the good fight of faith"? Having patience and being humble with them will kelp promote unity in the church, even if we grow tired of some of the annoyances of some of our brothers and church leaders. Having patience will help us to share our love and edifying one another, thus keeping unity in the congregation. knowing the word of God and boasting of ourselves for this, we become arrogant. Those that disagree with us will soon lose respect for us. Thus our arrogance has ruined our ability to help others grow and be edified in the word of God. Many will come across our paths in life and will ultimately disagree with our belief, being of a gentle nature we can put up the good fight of the faith, without giving others reasons to reject God and His word.
