Employers should not be threatening and should treat their employees with respect and dignity. this does not only apply to outside the congregation but inside as well and even more so. Everyone should be treated impartial. Everyone is valuable and precious in the eyes of God.

Q4. (Ephesians 6:9) How should Christian employers conduct themselves towards their employees? How should church boards conduct themselves towards church employees? How do you determine a just wage -- not merely the one you think you can afford?

Christian employers should treat their employees fairly and with respect. They should not treat their employees as machines but as people. We are all equal before God. He does not play favorites: No one person is more important than anyone else.

The above should be the same for church boards in their conduct towards church employees. As I gave in the last question the One you ultimately should want to please is your Father in Heaven.

A just wage would depend on the experience, how the finances are in the business or church where you are employed. I believe a worker is worthy of his hire whether it be ministry or employment on a job.

Q4. (Ephesians 6:9) How should Christian employers conduct themselves towards their employees?

Employers are to treat their employees with respect, faithfulness and the integrity that God expects of employees.

How should church boards conduct themselves towards church employees?

The church board should treat church employees with respect and give them a just reward in compensation.

How do you determine a just wage -- not merely the one you think you can afford?

Wages or compensations should be matched based on the employees worth to the organization not merely on what you can afford.

I agree with Tabatha on this. Thank you Tabatha.

Christian employers should treat their employees with respect & faithfulness.

Church boards should treat their employees with respect & faithfulness too.

Determining a wage? Prayer is the first determination to get God's leading. Taking a look at what income you have available, you should check out the wages of others in the same job to get an idea of where you should be paying your employees. Favoritism is not an option, but fairness is. Your determination of the wages will affect these families & their ability to provide for their own.

You are under God's authority to conduct a good working environment and are still a servant of our Heavenly Master. God shows no favoritism. You are just as accountable as any employees, employers. Church boards should act as employers over employees determining fair wages, as in any business. Pastors must be worthy of respect and financial remuneration. They must be good stewards of God's money using it for God's purposes and to show Him how well they are managing the resources entrusted to them. How they are shepherding the sheep. Good stewardship, good leadership and appreciation of exhorting the Word that is given of God through him.

Employers, whether church boards or secular, should conduct themselves with even greater Christlike attributes than employees as he who is great among us should behave as the most humble. You can have great authority and command tremendous respect from those under you by simply walking the walk.

Pay should be based upon fair market rates.

They should treat them fairly and with respect. We are all equal in God's side and He has no favorities.

The Churches should have good examples for others to follow.

Employers should pay their employee according to how much they are working and total income brought.

The same thing goes, as for employees, total respect, faithfulness and trust in their workers, staff.

Doesn't matter if it is the secular workforce or in the church, we all should be Christlike in our endeavours.

"A just wage would depend on the experience, how the finances are in the business or church where you are employed. I believe a worker is worthy of his hire whether it be ministry or employment on a job."

Thanks Tabatha for the above quote :D

Q4. (Ephesians 6:9) How should Christian employers conduct themselves towards their employees? How should church boards conduct themselves towards church employees? How do you determine a just wage -- not merely the one you think you can afford?

They should treat them fairly and with respect, not being prideful not showing favoritism to a few and passing over others. If a man give you a fair days work he need to get a fair days pay and be promoted likewise. A mans wages need to be reflective of the kind of job he does how he preforms that job should always come first. If he is good at his job and gets it done in a timely manner then he deserves a fair wage. The church should lead the way in treating employees fairly and providing a good wage for a job well done. Wages shoul be based on skill and the ability to preform your given duties in a reasonable time.

Q4. (Ephesians 6:9) How should Christian employers conduct themselves towards their employees?

Chrisitan employers shoud treat their employees with genuine respect, jusily, giving them fair and decent wages with time off for resting according to what God has established as good and fair.

How should church boards conduct themselves towards church employees?

Church boards should follow the same rules listed above because God holds them responsible for how they treat their employee's.

How do you determine a just wage -- not merely the one you think you can afford?

A just wage could truthfully be determined. If one's acheivements exceeds the market value of his work he should justly be rewarded with more payment. A employee's wages should be based upon his/her merits, the growing economy, the worth of the job, cost of living equation, etc....

Christian employers need to treat their employees with respect, dignity, and fairness. They need to realize that their workers aren't machines or robots that can keep on going. Workers should be given time for breaks during the work day.

The same thing goes for church boards. They need to treat church employees with fairness, dignity, and respect.

A just wage should be determined by several factors 1) experience 2) the current economy 3) job duties.

Employers of secular workplace and the church should be considerate, just and fair, should pay salaries promptly and should give time off rest.

Determination of fair salaries could be by comparing what standard organisations are paying.

Christians employers and church boards members should treat their employee with respect, fairness and justly.

I think that a just wage should be base on experience and the current economy.

Christian employers should conduct themselves toward their employees with respect, faithfulness, integrity, honesty, justice. Church boards should conduct themselves toward church employees with the same attitudes as Christian employers toward their employees, no excuse.

I determine a just wage by making suitable payment for the service or product the employer produces for me, not merely the one I think I can afford.

With respect, faithfulness, and integrity.

A just wage is determined by the market - what the "going rate" is for the services provided, taking into account the extent of a person's experience in a field, equivalent educational level, etc.

They should be shown the same respect that the employee shows them.

How should church boards conduct themselves towards church employees?

They should treat them with respect and they should lead by example.

How do you determine a just wage -- not merely the one you think you can afford?

The wage should be determined by the value of the employee and their experience and knowledge.

The manager is to do the very same things that are required of the workman. he is to treat the workman just like he expects the workman to treat him. the manager is to forbear threats. this does not mean a workman cannot be corrected or released if he is not diligent and loyal. God does not encourage slothfulness nor license nor indulgence.God chastens and disciplines when needed. the point is this employers and managers must guard against unwarranted threats for they too have a Master in heaven and he has no favorites and shows no favoritism. as employers and managers we hold every workman accountable to us so the Lord holds us accountable to Him.

Q4. (Ephesians 6:9) How should Christian employers conduct themselves towards their employees?

In the same manner as the scripture admonishes employees/servants: to serve as unto the Lord, not to get the check mark in the box or to be seen by men. Employers are to respect their employees, to serve with whole heartedness in doing the will of God. Employers are to abstain fromr using threatening and violent words, abuse of any kind, to understand that God is the master of both employer and employee.

How should church boards conduct themselves towards church employees?

In the same way as in the previous question....and by the way, that respect would entail not lording it over them spiritually in any way, but as brothers and sisters in the Lord.

How do you determine a just wage....not merely the one you think you can afford?

This brought Scrooge to mind and I think may be what the question was digging for....Is the employer miserly and stingy to line his pockets with wealth while cheating the employee? That would not honor God, nor show respect for the employee. So many factors should be considered on a strictly "business" agenda, like economy, education, performance, going rate, etc. Those seem to be common sense to me, but if I'm a Christian boss with the power to set the wage of an employee, prayer seeking God's wisdom should be involved.

Q4. (Ephesians 6:9)

How should Christian employers conduct themselves towards their employees?

How should church boards conduct themselves towards church employees?

In exactly the same way employees treat their employers, being guided by the same principles. They should be fair, kind, and honest. They should always remember that they have a Father also, the same Father who is in heaven that the employee has. Earthly distinctions are levelled in the presence of the Lord. Both employer and employee will one day give an account to Him. Church boards are no exception, the same applies to them, perhaps even more stringent applied. It is up to the employer to determine a just wage, in other words a living wage. The employer should not think how cost efficient or smart they are when paying minimum wages.

Ephesians 6:9) How should Christian employers conduct themselves towards their employees?

Masters are given two warnings (1) You have a Master in heaven who will hold you accountable; and (2)God shows no favoritism. As church boards are employers/masters, the corresponding behavior should be within the church bylaws (in my case the Book of Methodist Discipline). Board behavior should be in service to Christ's Church and with respect and sincerity of heart.

How should church boards conduct themselves towards church employees? How do you determine a just wage -- not merely the one you think you can afford?

Finance committees and boards who develop salary allowances for pastors and lay ministerial support fall directly in the crosshairs of this scripture. Staff salaries and raises to pastors should be fair to promote unity in the church. Favoritism is raising salaries and nepotism are divisive and in my opinion are contraindicated for church unity. Standards for salaries are available for similar positions in comparable churches; however, prayer is always a powerful tool in making decisions.

[/quote With good will treating everyone the same and always realize that they also have a master who is in heaven. The same! I think it should be by the employee's skill level and a reasonable pay for whatever the job may be.
