Dove81
Q3. (Hebrews 2:1) In what ways are we not immune to drifting away from the gospel? When we are daily in fellowship with God. Whether by reading his word and meditating on it or praying. Or in fellowship with like minded people or even listening to praise and worship music. It makes it hard to drift away knowing and believing and standing on Gods word. Wanting to live the life he has created us for. It makes it a little harder to drift away. Unfortunately we carry around our flesh which loves the things of this world. If you’re not rooted in Gods word you can slip back into your old worldly ways. An it’s not something that is fast it’s a slow process and most times we don’t even realize we are drifting away. But in the words of Paul (Romans 7:25) Thanks be to God who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord. According to the author, how can we successfully resist the tendency to drift? Pay attention to the word of God and take heed to it. Not just be hear’s of the word but as be doers of the word. Let you life reflect that you believe and stand on God’s word. How did Jesus describe this phenomenon of "drift" in the Parable of the Sower? The drift in the Parable of the Sower with the Stony places the people heard the word and probably enjoyed the sermon. It just went in on ear and out the other. Nothing said penetrated their soul, so they never changed from who they were. With the Thorny area they received the word that went forth and set out with the right intentions to draw nearer to God. Yet life’s trials and struggles caused them to forget what they’d heard or learned about God. Thus both drift back into the ways of this world.
