Commissioned
Q3. (Hebrews 4:16) Why should we approach the "throne of grace" with boldness and confidence? We have an intercessor who understands our temptations because He has experienced it himself and the "throne of grace" is not a throne of judgment for us, it is a throne where grace is dispensed freely. What are the promises contained in this verse? We are promised that Jesus is sympathetic to our situation. And we are promised that when we approach the "throne of grace," we will find mercy, grace and help for every circumstance. On what basis is God able to offer us unrestrained mercy and grace for our sins while still retaining his justice as judge? God is able to offer us unrestrained mercy and grace for our sins while still retaining his justice as judge on the basis of "grace." God is sympathetic to our plight and is calling us to approach Him and accept His generous gift of pardon so that He can give us rest. charisbarak
We have been instructed by the scriptures to approach His throne with confidence as Jesus did. The promises given to us when we come to the throne are mercy, grace to help us in our time of need. He promises to give us help--not always will His answer be yes, and having taken our problems to Him, he will give us a way of escape or perhaps, give us peace that He is at work in our lives. He is in control!!
Tabatha
Q3. (Hebrews 4:16) Why should we approach the "throne of grace" with boldness and confidence? What are the promises contained in this verse? On what basis is God able to offer us unrestrained mercy and grace for our sins while still retaining his justice as judge? No one can add to what Jesus did to save us ; our past, present, and future sins are all forgiven, and Jesus is with the Father as a sign that our signs are forgiven. If you are a Christian, remember that Christ has paid the price for your sins once and for all. What are the promises contained in this verse ( Hebrews 4: 16 ) 1. Mercy, " kindness,or concern expressed for someone in need, mercy, compassion, pity, clemency, 2. Grace, "goodwill, favor' 3. Help,, "assistance offered to meet a need, help." 4. Timely help, " pertaining to time that is considered a favorabe occasion for some event or circumstance, welltimed, suitable". As our High Priest, Christ is our advccate, the mediator between us and God, He looks after our interests and intercedes for us with God The old testament high priest went before God once a year to plead for the forgiveness of the nation's sins; Christ makes perpetual intercession before God for us: Christ"s continuous presence in heaven with the Father assures us that our sins have been paid for and forgiven This wonderful assurance frees us from guilt and from fear of failure. It is through the mercy and grace of Jesus Christ on the Cross shedding His blood for us that God can still retain His justice as Judge. Helenmm
Q3. (Hebrews 4:16) Why should we approach the "throne of grace" with boldness and confidence? What are the promises contained in this verse? On what basis is God able to offer us unrestrained mercy and grace for our sins while still retaining his justice as judge? I think we are made in the image of God. This was smashed by sin. However Jesus has restored us to and beyond the original Adam to become sons of God with Jesus. We are to have the very characteristics of God. These do not include fawning, cringing and false humility. In God's image we are confident, bold, courageous, and outright, for so is our Father. We are not like satan who wanders about like a roaring lion, having not the power of the Lion of Judah. In the Name of Jesus Christ, the unblemished Son and Lamb of the living God, we have all power, and should so live, reflecting His glory! We are not lights hidden under a bushell, but lights set on a hill to blaze away for all to see and understand. We are the salt of the eart and not to lose our saltiness! We are to give answer wherever required, not in fear but in the confidence that the answers will be given to us! We are to ask what we will and it shall be done for us. We are to rejoice in persecution and constantly praise His Name. This is no insipid person of whom all this is required. This is a person with authority which comes from the very throne room of grace itself. As ambassadors of the Most High God, boldness and courage are expected, beginning in the very throne room. The promises are that we will obtain mercy (forgiveness for our shortcomings) and grace (favour and blessings showered upon us as children of the Most High). If we submit to (direct all our hidden energy towards) God's justice and terms (true repentance, turning away from our sinful course, faith in the blood of Jesus to cover our sins, and persistence to run the course set before us) then we are deemed perfect, and given a garment of righteousness to wear, which identifies us as residents of the Kingdom of Heaven which Jesus preached. It's like - if we will approach the throne of God with the required attitudes, God, who has been setting this up (waiting for this) can do something with us because our attitudes are corrected. When the first blood spilt by sin (murder of Abel) cried out to God, He immediately made the purification of the earth possible through the blood of Jesus. We must come in through those purification channels which have been set up. Justice is served because the whole price of death (not only of Abel, but of milions who would later die violently or suffer the damaging consequence of sin), introduced as a direct consequence of sin, has been handsomely paid. The tree that was set in the midst of the garden, which was violated by Adam and Eve, has taken its vengeance by the nailing of Jesus to the Cross, and Jesus has RISEN! We, who agree wholeheartedly with Him, shall also rise with Him. Hallelujah! Praise you Father, for your inexhaustable love for us! The world and sin will be exhausted, even prophecy and tongues shall cease, but God's love will never be exhausted!

We should approach as children forgiven by their Father for transgressions of His law, assured that their sin is forever forgiven and no punishment is necessary. so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." (4:16) The promises are that we will recieve Mercy and find Gracy, undeserved forgiveness, and recieve help in our time of need. He offers us grace on the basis that Jesus was a righteous Son slain for our sin, without sin of His own he took ours apon Himself that God the Father could look at Him and see us sinless and give us the grace that we don't deserve but get from a loving and caring God and Lord of all. Craig
Because Jesus Christ our High Priest has experienced human temptation; He stands ready to give immediate and sympathetic help when we are tempted. Believers should courageously approach God in prayer because His is a throne of grace, and our High Priest sits at His right hand interceding for us. Jesus has promised grace, mercy and help in our time of need. His mercy, justice and grace is based on the shedding of Jesus Christ's blood on the cross for our sin and His subsequent resurrection. JustJeff
Because Jesus walked as a man and suffered the same infirmities as we He is sympathetic to our weaknesses, not some aloof, puffed up God. The Lord is one who chose a path that welcomes us as joint heirs with Him, brothers and sisters. In this manner we can bring our petitions to Him in confidence and boldness. As we come to Him in need He will have mercy and grace in abundance to give to us. These are the promises in Heb 4:16. God is no respecter of persons. He is merciful and full of grace when we repent of our sins. Yet, He will punish us lovingly for our transgressions when we continue in our sins, in order to bring us back to His grace. We can approach God's throne with boldness and confidence because it is a throne of grace He lovingly offers us -- not a throne of judgment. We are promised His mercy, His Grace, His Help and His perfect timing for our lives. He will listen to us and forgive us and strengthen our lives with His solutions for us. PCHRIS
There are a number of features here; our approach is characterized by 'confidence', a freedom of expression and deliverance from fear; the throne stands for royalty and could certainly be overawing were it not that its main characteristic is grace, the place where God's free favour is dispensed; also a combination of mercy and grace are special favours dispensed from the throne; the help which 'in time of need' shows the supply of grace is unrestricted, the only condition being a willingness to receive it, a sense of its indispensability. What are the promises contained in this verse? On what basis is God able to offer us unrestrained mercy and grace for our sins while still retaining his justice as judge? It is upon the authority of the Word of God that gives us the privilege to come boldly to His throne of Grace....so we are given this gift and freedom because of Jesus and His sharing His inheritance with us. The promises herein are of His Grace, Mercy and Forgiveness unto us just when we need it, knowing HIs Grace is always available as we need it and come to His throne in the assurance we have this "right" as His children. It is only through the blood of Jesus Christ covering our sins that makes it possible for God to offer us His mercy and grace, for in His eyes our sins are no longer visible and He is able to be just in His judgment due to His own gift of life and forgiveness, to us through Jesus's death and resurrection. Ms CJ
Q3. (Hebrews 4:16) Why should we approach the "throne of grace" with boldness and confidence? What are the promises contained in this verse? On what basis is God able to offer us unrestrained mercy and grace for our sins while still retaining his justice as judge? Why should we approach the "throne of grace" with boldness and confidence? Why boldness? Because it is not a throne of judgment for us, but a throne where grace is dispensed freely. "Grace" is charis, "practical application of goodwill, (a sign of) favor, gracious deed/gift, benefaction, divine favor." What are the promises contained in this verse? 1) Mercy (eleos), "kindness or concern expressed for someone in need, mercy, compassion, pity, clemency."15 2) Grace (charis), "goodwill, favor" 3) Help (boētheia), "assistance offered to meet a need, help."16 4) Timely help (eukairos), "pertaining to time that is considered a favorable occasion for some event or circumstance, well-timed, suitable." On what basis is God able to offer us unrestrained mercy and grace for our sins while still retaining his justice as judge? Having laid the foundation of Jesus as a high priest who: * Is "great," * Has "passed through the heavens," * Understands temptation because he has experienced it himself, and * Is sympathetic to our situation, Just this week I found out that a friend of mine has been in an affair for 3 years and it has devastated his family, his church and the list goes on and on of who has been touched by this. It has cost him every thing at this point and he is looking for grace and mercy from everyone especially from the Lord and I know with true repentance and faith that he will have the boldness and to go to this throne of grace and receive mercy, and some say how can he, because he knows the God we serve and he knows that Jesus was tempted beyond measure and he knows that there will be favor and help since the foundation has been laid for him. What we tear down in our lives Christ say's, to our enemies " tear this building down and I will rebuild it in 3 days.....". Have you ever seen this verse use this way before? Neither have I until now and I have seen Him do this in my own life, so I know this was fresh from the throne of grace for all of us. Please, before any one judges this man as they read this remember the commandment in Gal.6:1-10 1 BRETHREN, IF any person is overtaken in misconduct or sin of any sort, you who are spiritual [who are responsive to and controlled by the Spirit] should set him right and restore and reinstate him, without any sense of superiority and with all gentleness, keeping an attentive eye on yourself, lest you should be tempted also. 2 Bear (endure, carry) one another's burdens and [a]troublesome moral faults, and in this way fulfill and observe perfectly the law of Christ (the Messiah) and complete what is lacking [in your obedience to it]. 3 For if any person thinks himself to be somebody [too important to condescend to shoulder another's load] when he is nobody [of superiority except in his own estimation], he deceives and deludes and cheats himself. 4 But let every person carefully scrutinize and examine and test his own conduct and his own work. He can then have the personal satisfaction and joy of doing something commendable [[c]in itself alone] without [resorting to] boastful comparison with his neighbor. 5 For every person will have to bear ([d]be equal to understanding and calmly receive) his own [[e]little] load [f][of oppressive faults]. 6 Let him who receives instruction in the Word [of God] share all good things with his teacher [contributing to his support]. 7 Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked [g]by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and [h]that only is what he will reap. 8 For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint. 10 So then, as occasion and opportunity open up to us, let us do good [morally] to all people [not only [j]being useful or profitable to them, but also doing what is for their spiritual good and advantage]. Be mindful to be a blessing, especially to those of the household of faith [those who belong to God's family with you, the believers]. We must following and live by the word we are taught and we must love by the Spirit of God in Christ Jesus, for it is the walking in the spirit that we can overcome and it is walking the flesh we are defeated. We all must always even in the smallest of sin, run to the throne of grace to receive mercy for if we do in the smallest, pray fully we won't have find our selves in the deepest of sin..... What are the promises contained in this verse? On what basis is God able to offer us unrestrained mercy and grace for our sins while still retaining his justice as judge? Our privilege is given us as we are our Father's adopted children and Jesus ' inheritance is also ours....so as we are given this status through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we can approach the throne of grace just as He did. The promises are that our Father will be merciful in His grace to forgive us for our sins. All of this grace is given to us because Jesus Christ paid the debt needed to erase our sins from His Father's eyes....instead of judgment for them. Jesus saves us from all punishment, so the Father does not have to judge or punish us for them and can judge us justly...the debt is paid in full....Praise God. Dar
Q3. (Hebrews 4:16) Why should we approach the "throne of grace" with boldness and confidence? We can come boldly because God tells us we can! This is a fresh, a new covenant, with better promises. In the old covenant, only the high priest could come into the Holy place, and he did it with fear and trembling. We are to come to God's throne, as long as our hearts are filled with faith, faith in our Redeemer - Jesus. The new covenant is superior, it is based on our putting our trust in Jesus, resting in Him. What are the promises contained in this verse? Mercy is promised. God's mercy shown in His providing and His offering to mankind salvation by Christ, He blesses true Christians with eternal life. Mercy is the pardon of sin. Thank you for your mercy, this great favor from you Father God, seen in your Son! I come not only boldly, but with a thankful heart. Grace is promised. It is God's joy upon our lives, He is so pleased to show us His favor, for we have come to love His gift to us, His Son and the Holy Spirit. We believers are so forunate! we did not come to find joy in a religion, we believers have come to find mercy and grace, a relationship with the Almighty God; this mercy and grace we received because of our Redeemer, who is sitting at the right hand of God Almighty. On what basis is God able to offer us unrestrained mercy and grace for our sins while still retaining his justice as judge? God's mercy and grace is based on our putting our trust in Jesus, His Son. Let the fruit of God's love and mercy be seen to others as a witness of His saving grace and power. We must stay true to what we confess. To believe on Jesus is believing in Him and His teachings. We must not trample on this gift of mercy and grace. It is not a license for us to continue in our sin. Treasure this favor from God, let His grace continue to live in our lives, changing us daily. When we come to the throne, we come through the blood of Christ that washed us clean. This is what the Father sees, we have been washed by the blood. Come with a thankful heart, for God loved us so much He sent His only Son, so we can come boldly to His throne of grace. What an awesome God is He!
