InTotalAwe
Q5. (Hebrews 5:9) In verse 9, what does "made perfect" refer to, since it obviously isn't talking about Jesus' moral growth and perfection? (Hint: The word teleioō means "bring something to its goal or accomplishment.") Jesus summed it up quite nicely in John 19:30 when on the cross, with his dying breath he said, "IT IS FINISHED". The moment of fulfillment had come. He had completed the task for which He came into the world. He had torn down that wall of separation between man and His God and made reconciliation attainable to all who desired it. In all other religions of the world man is rabidly searching for God through self-punishment, sacrifice and man-made rituals; but in Christianity, God came searching for us. He took the punishment, He made the sacrifice and did away with useless rituals. Now we can come boldly to the throne of grace and find grace to help in time of need. How awesome is our God. Mephibesheth
Q5. (Hebrews 5:9) In verse 9, what does "made perfect" refer to, since it obviously isn't talking about Jesus' moral growth and perfection? (Hint: The word teleioō means "bring something to its goal or accomplishment.") "Made perfect" refers to the completion of Christ's suffering and, therefore, His work. This is an inspiring verse to me because it guarantees that if we remain obedient, if we perservere (not sin) through ALL sufferings, then we are guranteed to complete all the good works for which we were re-created and which were prepared in advance for us to do; we are guaranteed to be declared perfect and to hear the words "well done My good and faithful servant." We will hear these declarations as we look into the face of The Majestic Glory and live. This is what the Spirit of Christ is preparing for us now the way a mother or bridesmaid prepares a bride for her wedding. Oh my.

(Hebrews 5:9) In verse 9, what does "made perfect" refer to, since it obviously isn't talking about Jesus' moral growth and perfection? (Hint: The word teleioō means "bring something to its goal or accomplishment." 1) Jesus was already perfect, but being made perfect means He perfected the Father's plan by fulfilling it to completion, in every detail, without sin, and without wavering in His resolve to obey the plan laid out back in eternity for the redemption of that which was lost....me...and how very lost I was, but now I'm found, and I'm eternally thankful for my perfect Saviour and Lord's sacrifice for me. The perfect plan, fulfilled perfectly through unspeakable suffering, by the perfect Jesus.

(Hebrews 5:9) In verse 9, what does "made perfect" refer to, since it obviously isn't talking about Jesus' moral growth and perfection? (Hint: The word teleioō means "bring something to its goal or accomplishment.") Jesus did what He was suppose to do-He was obedient. He died on the cross, securing salvation for us. Jesus was and is already perfect. But-He did what He did because we are not perfect, and He wanted us to be where He is, so He became like us to make an example. We don't have to die to be saved, but we need to put all our trust in Jesus, and do what He says. We owe Him that, and besides, it is going to be supercalifragilisticexpialidoshious-or something like that-when we get to where He is, and see all that He secured for us! I can't wait! (Hint: The word teleioō means "bring something to its goal or accomplishment.") </b> "made perfect," refer to Jesus completing the purpose of His mission. His mission was completed with his death, followed by his resurrection and exaltation to His place on the right hand o f God the Father. I think made perfect means that Christ goal was made complete. We have salvation because of his suffering. He was the perfect propitiation. The eternal salvation that was gained by the suffering of Jesus is made available only to those who are obedient to Him through faith. Tahera Kine
Q5. Hebrews 5:9 Being made perfect refers to all he was to accomplish, He did it as He faithfully obeyed the will of God fully, through His walk on earth, his suffering in his death, his glorious ressurrection, in all of this he accomplished perfectly! He is the Perfect High Priest forever. Indeed Jesus was obedient up to His own death on the cross, he endured all suffering not as God, but as man. This He did so he could sympatise with us. lighthouse2014
Q5. (Hebrews 5:9) In verse 9, what does "made perfect" refer to, since it obviously isn't talking about Jesus' moral growth and perfection? (Hint: The word teleioō means "bring something to its goal or accomplishment.") In Hebrews 5:9 the verse containing the words "made perfect" refer to the fact that even though Jesus was the Son of God, he learned his obedience from what he suffered, even unto death. This is different from Jesus moral learning and his coming to perfection. Being tempted by Satan, Jesus many times used the word of God to defeat him, and by doing this he learned to be obedient to the Father. It was death on the cross that Christ bore our punishment for our sins. However, rising from the dead, Jesus put Satan's plan to destruction. Jesus being made complete and put on the throne by God. Jesus became our High Priest in Heaven and our mediator before God.
Paula Price
made perfect here is referring to the obedience of Jesus. Jesus was perfect in his obedience because even in his physical suffering, he never wavered in his faith, he never sinned!.. Even though we are human as Jesus was, is our obedience as perfect??? No, for if it were, there would be no need for Gods grace and mercy! And no need for Jesus to have die on the cross. He asked to be spared, but that was the human part of him, and the spiritual part said, "not my will, but thy will be done". Though God did not spare him, he sent his angels to strengthen him so that he would be able to bare the pain and suffering. He does the same for us. But gives us mercy and grace to cover us when we sin and ask for forgiveness and turn from our sin. Jesus was already perfect and was the example of being perfect in obedience to the will of God. royk
(Hebrews 5:9) In verse 9, what does "made perfect" refer to, since it obviously isn't talking about Jesus' moral growth and perfection? (Hint: The word teleioō means "bring something to its goal or accomplishment.") We are only made perfect at death to this worldly life on earth. Until then, we're surviving under God's grace and mercy, through our faith in Jesus' redeeming blood. We'll never deserve it, because we're sinners, but by faith in God and the promise of His Word, we are saved and brought into eternity. We need to grow with study and prayer and serving and being persecuted, following God's will better, hopefully a little more each day. But as Macarthur says, were being sanctified, but we continue to stink in these earthly bodies. We follow and repent, or we will end up in the wrong pace at the end. We can accomplish nothing for the Kingdom unless we're Faithful, Available to God, and Teachable (FAT) to the point of death as He shall appoint us all.
