Commissioned
Q3. (Hebrews 7:24-25) Why is Jesus able to save people "completely" -- "to the uttermost" according to verse 25? Jesus is able to save people "completely" -- "to the uttermost" according to verse 25 because he always lives to intercede for them. What is the essential function of a priest? The essential function of a priest is to intercede with God on behalf of the people. He does this as he presents, to God, the sacrifice for atonement of sin on behalf of himself and the people. Why is intercession the essence of being a priest? Intercession is the essence of being a priest in that it is the type of prayer the priest uses when communicating to God on behalf of the people. Tabatha
Q3. (Hebrews 7:24-25) Why is Jesus able to save people "completely" -- "to the uttermost" according to verse 25? What is the essential function of a priest? Why is intercession the essence of being a priest? No one can add to what Jesus did to save us; our past, present, and future sins are forgiven, and Jesus is with the Father as a sign that our sins are forgiven. Christ has paid the price for our sins once and for all. As our High Priest, Christ is our advocate, the mediator between us and God. He looks after our interests and intercedes for us with God. The Old testament high priest went before God once a year to plead for the forgiveness of the nation's sins; Christ makes perpetual intercession before God for us. Christ's continuous presence in Heaven with the Father assures us that our sins have been paid for and forgiven. ( Romans 8: 33,34 ; ) This assurance frees us from guilt and from fear of failure. ""Who will bring any charge'" against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies, (34)Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died-- more than that, who wasraised to life-- is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. ( Romans 8: 33, 34 )
charisbarak
Jesus can save us completely because He is our Great High Priest. He intercedes for us to the Father. He is on our side!! He loves us!! We are being saved on a daily basis! A priest interceded for the people to God because that was the God-appointed way. Jesus, having earned the right to die for us, He also intercedes for us to God. No longer do we need another man to intercede for us. We can pray & be heard!! Helenmm
Q3. (Hebrews 7:24-25) Why is Jesus able to save people "completely" -- "to the uttermost" according to verse 25? What is the essential function of a priest? Why is intercession the essence of being a priest? Jesus is a complete man. He has not been depleted by any form of sin, inadequacy or shortfall. We all suffer from "Adamitis", or shortfall. The law had a lot to do with the need to offer something to make up for the sin in man's nature. Just fulfilling the law didnot bring us up to standard as sons of God, or the prospective bride of Christ. The law was inadequate to do that, as was the blood of animals to supply the shortfall in man. Jesus came and fulfilled all the law. He was everything the law could possibly have envisioned. Not only did He fulfil the law but He over-flowed it, teaching us to not only not to commit adultery, but not to **** at all but honour one another! And the same for every other law - not ony not to to murder, but to love our enemies, not to covet but to give liberally etc. Jesus' law was a brand new thing! Not one jot or tittle would pass away, but all will be fulfilled - majestically because Jesus is in it. In the same way that He busted open the law, Jesus busted sin for all who would come to Him and embrace His victory. Satan took people away, but Jesus invites them back through the gate He has opened to the brand new world of the Kingdom of Heaven. Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither can the heart of man imagine what God has prepared for those that seek Him. So is the victory that the Son of Man won for us onthe cross, saving us utterly, completely. The essential function of a priest is to minister salvation. In the old days it was through the blood of lambs. Today it is through the blood of Jesus who is the high priest of us all (we all have a priesthood in salvation). The old priest's job was to be an intermediary, since the children of Israel, in the desert, didn't want to talk with God but for Moses to do it for them. The High Priest now - Jesus - has the job of demonstrating to the father on our behalf that we are in need of salvation, and that we are under the cover of blood. The priest's job is to make a presentation to the Lord, the Father of all, Almighty God, demonstrating that a recompense has been made for sin. lest God's justice arise and turn against us. This presentation is the operative that will hope to win us favour. Intercession is that part of the presentation that communicates to God about our weakness and need of help. But we too are priestly intercessors like Jesus, with the responsibility of interceding for others and bringing about salvations. How joyful is that?. We too present our prayers, under the blood of Jesus, for othes.
JustJeff
As our High Priest forever the Lord is ever present before the Father, interceding for us during the entire course of our lifetime. He is able to bring us to perfection in this manner. It is the obligation of the priest to pray, or intercede on our behalf as he is called to be the intermediator between we and the Lord (the Holy Spirit also being in that capacity) by their role as shepherds. This relates to the High Priest being the only one allowed into the Especially Holy Place. A singular calling for this person. So is the priest called to pray for the flock, corporately or individually. It is the essence of the commission.
PATJOE
Q3. (Hebrews 7:24-25) Why is Jesus able to save people "completely" -- "to the uttermost" according to verse 25? What is the essential function of a priest? Why is intercession the essence of being a priest? Jesus, who lives forever and has a permanent high priesthood with God, is able to save people (completely and to the uttermost) who come to the Father through Him. He is commissioned by God to do this for us, as he suffered and became obedient unto the cross. No other human being can do this as we are all sinners. Only one who is Holy and without sin can approach the face of God. Jesus, the most Holy does this for us and pleads our case with God. His God-given assignment was that He be our intercessor with God. Human priests have been given God's sanction to lead people to atoning for their sins, and in this manner partially play the role of intercessors, however they cannot save us even temporarily. Loisb
Jesus died on the cross for our salvation and has the right to intercede for us, so he is able to save us to the "uttermost". The Priest is our teacher and is always praying and ministering for our salvation. He is constantly going to God on our behalf. The priest prays to God for us. Even though we may not pray as much as we should, the priest is always interceding for us, so that no souls will be lost.

According to the scripture He lives forever and therefore is able to save completly. He is our eternal High Priest always making intercession for us with the Father assuring that we are going to be with Him. A priest fuction is to intercede for his people and seek forgiveness for their sins and short comings and to pray for their healing and well being. It is what God set them up to do it is their place in the order that God set up a Priest is to make intercession for his people if he is doing the will of the Father. Craig
Jesus is able to save people competely because His people will never be without a High Priest to represent them in the very presence of God, interceding on their behalf. The essential function of a priest is to intercede between the congregation and God. To make sacrifice for sin on behalf of the congregation. Intercession is the essence of being a priest because the priest is set aside by God from the people and made holy and pure for the purpose of intercession. Ms CJ
Why is Jesus able to save people "completely" -- "to the uttermost" according to verse 25? What is the essential function of a priest? Why is intercession the essence of being a priest? Why is Jesus able to save people "completely" -- "to the uttermost" according to verse 25? * "23 Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; 24 but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. 25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them." Look what he says about Jesus: 1. Jesus lives or continues15 forever -- literally, "unto the ages." 2. Jesus has a permanent or unchanageable16 priesthood. 3. Jesus is able to save completely those who come to God through him. This word "to the uttermost" (KJV), "for all time" (NRSV), and "completely" (NIV) is literally "unto completeness" (pantelēs) -- "completely, perfectly, utterly."17 4. Jesus always lives to intercede for us. In Classical Greek, the verb entugchanō means "to go to or meet a person" especially for the purpose of conversation, consultation, or supplication." Here and at Romans 8:21, 34, it means "to pray, entreat, make intercession of."18 Jesus' intercession for us is mentioned elsewhere in the New Testament (Romans 8:21, 34; 1 John 2:1), but here the writer ties this priestly act to Jesus' continual and permanent High Priestly ministry. If you're in trouble, Jesus is interceding for you before the throne of God. Not as a supplicant, but as enthroned Priest-King at the right hand of the Father! What is the essential function of a priest? * To intercede for us. In Classical Greek, the verb entugchanō means "to go to or meet a person" especially for the purpose of conversation, consultation, or supplication." Eudora
Q3. (Hebrews 7:24-25) Why is Jesus able to save people "completely" -- "to the uttermost" according to verse 25? That accounts for the prominence of blood and death in all these secondary practices that point to the realities of heaven. It also accounts for why, when the real thing takes place, these animal sacrifices aren't needed anymore, having served their purpose. For Christ didn't enter the earthly version of the Holy Place; he entered the Place Itself, and offered Himself to God as the sacrifice for our sins. He doesn't do this every year as the high priests did under the old plan with blood that was not their own; if that had been the case, He would have to sacrifice Himself repeatedly throughout the course of history. But instead He sacrificed Himself once and for all, summing up all the other sacrifices in this sacrifice of Himself, the final solution of sin. Everyone has to die once, then face the consequences. Christ's death was also a one-time event, but it was a sacrifice that took care of sins forever. And so, when He next appears, the outcome for those eager to greet Him is, precisely, salvation. Even so it is that Christ, having been offered to take upon Himself and bear as a burden the sins of many once and once for all, will appear a second time, not to carry any burden of sin nor to deal with sin, but to bring to full salvation those who are [eagerly, constantly, and patiently] waiting for and expecting Him. What is the essential function of a priest? The priest had to make atonement for the sins of Israel every year on the day of atonement, but Jesus had to do this only once. He is the high priest above all priests. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. Why is intercession the essence of being a priest? Someone had to stand in the gap. We are of sin and someone had to take away our sins so that we could be reconciled with God Almighty. Otherwise we would all still be in the state of sin that was thrown upon the entire human race by Adam. Separated from God forever, but through Jesus Christ, who stood in the gap for us, we now can go boldly to the throne of grace.

Dar
Q3. (Hebrews 7:24-25) Why is Jesus able to save people "completely" -- "to the uttermost" according to verse 25? We are saved completely because of the blood that was poured out for all who believe, not the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, Jesus entered once for all into the Holy of Holies, having procured everlasting redemption. To the "uttermost" because His is an eternal priesthood, for He lives forever. What is the essential function of a priest? A priest represents the people before God, leading the people to confess their sins. They act as mediator between man and God. Why is intercession the essence of being a priest? 1Ti 2:5 For God is one, also there is one Mediator of God and of men, the Man Christ Jesus. Jesus being fully God, can represent God to man, and at the same time, being fully man, can represent man to God. Our prayers are presented to God through Jeusus, our High PRIEST OVER THE HOUSE OF GOD.

What is the essential function of a priest? Why is intercession the essence of being a priest? Jesus can save completely because he died for our sin; yet he is still alive. He is our high priest because the priesthood will not change. He will live forever. We have to look forward to our flesh dying but we will live forever with our Lord and Savior who sits with His Father.
