Commissioned
Q3. (Hebrews 9:28) How did the purpose of Christ's First Coming differ from his Second Coming? Christ first coming was to bear or take away sin as the Suffering Servant. At His second coming he will bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. Which did the Jews expect? The Jews expected a Messiah who would bring salvation, freeing them from their earthly enslavement. How does the mission of the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53 fit here? However when Jesus came He came as the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53, to bear the sin of the world.
Ms CJ
Q3. (Hebrews 9:28) How did the purpose of Christ's First Coming differ from his Second Coming? Which did the Jews expect? How does the mission of the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53 fit here? How did the purpose of Christ's First Coming differ from his Second Coming? 1) Christ's first coming was to deal with our sins. Our author quotes the phrase in Isaiah 53:12: "he bore the sin of many." "Take away" (NIV) or "bear" (KJV, NRSV) is anapherÅ, "take up as a burden, take up."22 He took on, assumed our sin in order to carry it away. 2) His second appearance23 isn't as our Sacrifice but as our Savior, bringing us salvation in the sense that the Jews always expected their Messiah to come. Our Savior first saves from the guilt and slavery of sin, then from the oppression and confines of these earthly bodies unto the glorious liberty of the children of God in their resurrection bodies (Romans 8:21). Which did the Jews expect? * The Jews always expected their Messiah to come. How does the mission of the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53 fit here? The key to this question is the word mission and the only way to give a good and true answer is to understand this word in the question and the way to fit this scripture in. Main Entry: 2mission Function: transitive verb Inflected Form(s): mis
Tabatha
Q3. (Hebrews 9:28) How did the purpose of Christ's First Coming differ from his Second Coming? Which did the Jews expect? How does the mission of the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53 fit here? In Jesus first coming the Jews were looking for a king of royalty to take the throne away from the cruelty of the Romans. That was not His purpose. His purpose in the first coming was as a suffering servant. He came to serve to bear/take away our sins. Not to rule. His second coming, He will come as King of Kings, Lord of Lords to receive unto Himself those who are serving Him in anticiption of being taken out of this world of sin and distruction. Those that are sold out to Him and have seperated themselves from the evil of the day. Those who are serving Him by bringing in the harvest of souls no matter what the suffering may be . Some even losing their life in the mission of being called to go into the Highways and byways willing to pay the price as He did. We are to redeem the time for the days are short and there is much to be done to bring in the Harvest. Yes I am looking for a King this time not a baby in a manager, But a conquering King who has defeated slavery, sin and death for us that we to may rule and reign with Him in eternity. Maybe I didn't answer the question the way it is asked, but this is my answer with excited expectancy of Christ soon return. Christ will be Highly exaulted because of His suffering and sacrifice. Christ was an example as to what our lives should be like. Like Paul says more of Christ and less of me. Amen
Helenmm
Q3. (Hebrews 9:28) How did the purpose of Christ's First Coming differ from his Second Coming? Which did the Jews expect? How does the mission of the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53 fit here? Jesus came the first time to be our example and to suffer and die as the perfect sacrifice for our sin. He will come the second time to take dominion over the earth, to rule it with a rod of iron, and to save those who look for Him in eagerness and joyful anticipation. The Jews expected salvation in the first instance. The marvellous Isaiah 53 passage is there to identify the Christ for us, so that we can be sure when He arrived that He is indeed the Christ. He fulfilled every part of this prophecy (and many others besides) so that we are without doubt as to who He is and why He has come the first time. So many individual incidents are outlined here, and Jesus exactly fulfilled every single one. We'd have to be liars not to believe the He is the Christ (to put it bluntly!) It simply is not possible that anyone who was not the Christ could positively complete all these indications. Yet, according to Isaiah 53:1 we still only recognise Him by revelation - as Peter did, and Jesus said, "On this rock Iwill build my church". This is the amazing truth! We cannot recognise Jesus except by revelation, even though He satisfies all the written criteria for being the coming Messiah! Logic, reason and academia cannot, in their own right, recognise Him. He is recognised by revelation alone! This really changes my understanding! No wonder arguments cannot win people to the Cross! They are won by seeking and therefore finding - matters of the heart! And even then it's God who does most of the seeking (and drawing)!
Stan
Q3. (Hebrews 9:28) How did the purpose of Christ's First Coming differ from his Second Coming? Which did the Jews expect? How does the mission of the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53 fit here? His first coming was to die for our sins to be raised again and become our mediator before God the Father. His second coming will be to free us from worldly strife those who digently seek Him and those chosen by Him. He will recieve His inheritance from God just as He was promised from the creation of the world and that is also our promise that we live and serve with Him in heaven. The Jews expect the second coming as Messiah bring salvation and making them a new kingdom and freeing them from oppression. It is the fulfillment of the first coming Jesus came as a suffering servant, a servant of God the Father who suffered for our sin at the hand of men death on the cross. s8nfighter
Q3. (Hebrews 9:28) How did the purpose of Christ's First Coming differ from his Second Coming? Which did the Jews expect? How does the mission of the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53 fit here? The Jews expected Christ to deliver them from their enemies, they expected the Second Coming. Instead Christ came to claim all and reunite us who believe in Him. ( We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.) Isaiah 53:6 NIV The mission of the Suffering Servant was Christ's mission to a tee. When we are taken away with the second coming, we will truly experience a complete salvation because at that thime we will be complete in God. masika
Christ first was to give us to light on how to follow Him, His second coming will be to take those who have followed that light. The Jew were expecting a Messiah who will fight for them and deliver them from the Romans rules. Jesus came as a suffring servant in order to safe many from their sins. charisbarak
Christ's first coming was to offer Himself as the sacrifice for our sins and, I might add, to give us a chance to see & experience Him for a few years on earth--written for our growth in the Bible. His second coming, however, is to come to bring salvation--be the Messiah for our Jewish brothers & sisters which they were expecting at His first coming. The man of sorrows & of our Lamb, Jesus Christ, is mentioned in Is. 53 about His first coming!
PATJOE
Q3. (Hebrews 9:28) How did the purpose of Christ's First Coming differ from his Second Coming? Which did the Jews expect? How does the mission of the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53 fit here? In Christ's first coming, He lived on earth to teach and to become the human sacrifice, once and for all, for many people. In so doing He took away our sins and He was our sacrifice. In the second coming, through His resurrection, which proved He was the true Son of God, He brought us our salvation, which will release us "from the oppression and confines of our earthly bodies, unto the glorious liberty of the children of God in our resurrection bodies" (Romans 8:21). The Jews always expected their Messiah to come as their Saviour, bringing salvation. Jesus, the suffering servant had to remove our sins first and purify us to be in God's Holy presence, so that we are ready and waiting for Him to come again and take us into our salvation and eternal home with our Lord and Saviour. PCHRIS
His first coming to be, as Isaiah 53 points out, the Suffering Servant. And as John the Baptist referred to Christ - "behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sins of the world" John 1.29 The Sacrifice. His second coming as in the passage declares is give salvation to those who are eagerly waiting for Him. The Saviour. The Jews thought he was going to overthrow the tyranny of the Roman rule of the day. It is an exact prophecy of Jesus' life and crucifixion of what He was to endure for us as the perfect sacrifice. As Pastor Ralph, and many others do including myself, exclaimed..... Hallejuah!
Loisb
1. In the first coming, Christ came to take away our sins by being the suffering servant; but the second coming will bring about salvation. 2. The Jewish people are expecting the second coming. They are looking for a saviour. 3. Isaiah 53 foretold of the first coming, because Jesus was the Suffering Servant who took on the sins of all the people. How does the mission of the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53 fit here? The purpose of Christ's First Coming is to bear our sins by dying on the cross, or as our Sacrifice. The purpose of his Second Coming is to bring us salvation, or as our Savior. To bring them salvation, or as their Messiah is which Jews expected. The mission of the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53 fits here by the following. Isaiah 53 talk about someone that lived the earth, that the servant grew up obeying the Lord, that he was hated and rejected, that his life was filled with sorrow and terrible thing, that he was despised by us. In its verses are listed the reasons why those happened to him: he suffered and endured great pain for us, he was wounded and crushed because of our sins, his life was taken away because of the sinful things people had done. Craig
Jesus' first coming was to bear and take away sin as a suffering servant. His second coming will bring salvation in the traditional Jewish understanding of Messiah. The Jews of the 1st century were looking for the Messiah who would deliver them. Not a suffering servant. The prophet Isaiah announced that the Messiah would be a suffering servant who take up our infirmities and carry our sorrows and be crushed for sins. June
Christ's first coming was as a sacrifice and the Second Coming is for the completion of our salvation. To take us on home to be with Himself forever. The Jews just expected Christ to come back and continue to live along with them. The Messiah endured punishment in order that we may be delivered from diseases & sickness as well as our sins. He was bruised and pierced all because of His Great Love for me & you. Eudora
Q3. (Hebrews 9:28) How did the purpose of Christ's First Coming differ from his Second Coming? Which did the Jews expect? How does the mission of the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53 fit here? The first time Jesus came, He came to fulfil His destiny in obedience to God, who had a purpose and a plan for His Son, to redeem the lost back unto Him. He came as a servant. When Jesus comes again, He will collect those that God has given Him, and save us, just as He said He would. He brings Salvation and our reward with Him. The Jewish nation, not in the whole, but for the most part waited for a Messiah who would bring salvation with Him. He was despised and rejected of men, He was taken from prison and from judgment. He hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. He suffered being set apart from God and His body bore our iniquity. He became the sweet smelling aroma of the one time offering for all mankind.
