Q1. (Exodus 12) In what way did the lambs on the first Passover protect the families of God's people? What is the primary point of comparison between the first Passover lambs and what Christ did for us as our Passover Lamb?

In what way did the lambs on the first Passover protect the families of God's people?

The Israelites were to kill one lamb per household. If the lamb was too large for the family to eat, they were to share what was left over with thee closest neighbor who needed meat to feed his household. After the lamb was slaughtered, the Israelites were to put some of the blood of the lamb on the sides and tops of the doorframes. On that same night the Lord would pass through Egypt striking down every firstborn-both men and animals- and the Lord will bring judgement on all the gods of Egypt. The blood would be a sign for the Israelites and where they lived; and when the Lord sees the blood, He will pass over them, and no destructive plague will touch the Israelites when the Lord strikes Egypt.

What is the primary point of comparison between the first Passover lambs and what Christ did for us as our Passover Lamb?

Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed, echoing the early church's belief that Christ was a fulfillment of the Passover lamb. Jesus, too, saw himself in this role, and implies as much in his words at the Last Supper.

The blood of the lambs placed on the lintel and door posts protected the Israelis from the judgement that was happening.

Christ's blood shed on the cross protects us who believe from the judgement coming.

God Bless!

In what way did the lambs on the first Passover protect the families of God's people? (Exodus 12) What is the primary point of comparison between the first Passover lambs and what Christ did for us as our Passover Lamb?

The blood of the innocent lambs protected Gods people from His wrath. The destroyer passed over their homes and they were safe.

I would say the primary point of comparison is that due to Jesus' sacrifice (the innocent lamb), we who accept Him as our God and Saviour would be saved from the final judgement. Gods' wrath will pass over us and we will be safe.

The first passover lambs saved the firstborn of the people of God from dying. In the same way Jesus saves us from God's wrath by dying just like those little lambs.

The lambs blood was spread on all of the Israelites children so when the firstborn were slain by the Lord, whosoever had the lambs blood spread over where they were they did not die.  The Egyptians did not have lambs blood on their firstborn and therefore God killed them all even the Pharoah’s son.  Jesus Christ is often called the Lamb of God, and He saved God’s people by dying on the cross and innocent blood was shed.
