eternallysaved
Q1. (Luke 1:31-34) What did the angel's announcement say about who Mary's Child was and who he was to become? 'You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.' WALT39
In verse 31, Mary is told that His name would be Jesus. In the next verse, He would be called the Son of the Most High. I read that this title has two meanings: (1) the divine Son of God and (2) the Messiah born in time. This title is frequently used of God in both the OT and NT

poetmom
Mary not only discovered, from an angel no less, that she would become pregnant, but that the child would be an eternal king. This would be so extremely terrifying to hear, but as the lesson says, she took "Fear not" at face value. Twelve years old! I cannot even imagine what this was like for her, but the depths of her trust in God show through. My own faith got a recharge this morning. Debra M.
What did the angel's announcement say about who Mary's Child was and who he was to become? That her son would be a male and that she was to name him Jesus. Also, that he would be considered 'great' and the Son of God and that he would take over the throne in the fashion of King David, who knew of the coming of Jesus Christ, by revelation knowledge. The angel made it clear that Jesus was to rule over the house of Jacob throughout the years to come and that His rulership would never end. I'm trying to catch up. In a direct but gentle way the angel was letting her know that her son would be the one everyone had been waiting for. The messiah, Ruler of all to reign forever. Guard Guy
Gabriel's announcement was amazing! He told Mary she would become pregnant, when she knew she was sexually innocent and would be exposed to great social risk. He told her that her child - a son (no ultrasound needed!) - named Jesus (no decision needed by she and her husband to be!) - Son of the Most High God (paternity that would be hotly debated in future years, yet would be ultimately indisputable!) - and that He would be the greatest ever born, by serving His people as their rescuer. anniel
Perhaps the greatest birth announcement ever given. This god-loving and god-fearing teen would, by the power of God, become pregnant with a son who she would call Jesus (Messiah). He was the child that Israel had been waiting for and he would be a great man and known as the Son of El Elyon. He would be The King over the house of Jacob on the never ending throne of David.
