Q3. Blessed Are the Meek

Recommended Posts

Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

Meekness means to endure injury with patience. The world sees meekness as a character flaw and equates it with a physical trait of being a wimp. But Jesus was meek and humble (Mt 11:29). But he was far from Weak, as the world saw Him. He was powerful and is all powerful and lives and reigns in Power and Glory. The world pushes people aside, and faults people as being weak, in getting their desires fulfilled. Every push up the job ladder is done often times on the back of those, who refuse to follow in the way of the world. If you stand up to the world's way of recognition and achievements, you are deemed " weird, weak, a loser." A Meek person takes ridicule and does not ridicule in return but even offers the "other cheek to be slapped at times." Meekness and humility, exalt us before God, now the worlds power hungry tactics of pain and progressive manipulation.

Humility is walking Like Jesus Walked, talking Like Jeus Talked, Living like Jesus Lived, and reigning victoriously in all circumstances, whether viewed by the world as weak or beggarly. But seen of God, as humble and righteous in His eyes.

Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

In the world setting you want to be assertive, rough and aiming for the highest point in life even at the expense of other people and this is what is seen to be a prerequisite for success. The Christian way is about patience and humility.

Jesus humbled himself yet He was in control of His situation. H ehad the power to accomplish anything he wanted yet he was patient and enduring, slow to unlish His arsenal. To be like Him we too need to humble ourselves, being patient in exercising the power, status, privilege that we may have.

Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

it is impossible for the world to be humble and lowly in spirit. oh yeah, we all try to look the part in many ways, but without walking in the spirit, we are all just pharisees, playing the part in front of man. what is sad is we get away with pretending at times in front of non believers. but with true humility, we can help, encourage, lift up,and love others in a way that runs without limits, both recieving and giving, and it is all done unto god.

Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

Nothing is as strong as gentleness. Kindness, love, humility, and patience.

The world, however, is a different story. The world believes that gentleness is a sign of inferiority.

Humility is in portend to us because: "It is not enough for us to say: "I love God," but I also have to love my neighbour. St. John says that you are a liar if you say you love God and you don't love your neighbour.

How can you love God whom you do not see, if you do not love your neighbour whom you see, whom you touch, with whom you live?" " Mother Teresa "

To be truly Christian, Christlike, we must surrender our own comforts, when necessary, to provide for others who are in need

The world,s ideal is to make it at the expense of others but this sort of gentleness is not what Jesus is talking about.

No humility,no spiritual growth.

Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

The world is filled with those overly impressed by their sense of self-importance, and those who step over and on their fellow man just to get ahead in this world. the opinions and approval of men is more important than the opinion and approval of God.

Humility is important to Christlikeness because it is the the example laid down by our king as the character of the citizens of the Kingdom. Humility, consideration of our fellow man, deficient in spirit and courage, and submissiveness to the father's will for our lives will here on earth, a living sacrifice is what is required.

Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

In contrast with the world Christians are the opposite of what people of the world stand for, for example, they like to be recognized for whatever or whenever they do something good or outstanding. A Christian or child of God respond to whomever or whatever the crisis maybe and they do not boast and take the credit for what they have done.

Humility was taught to the disciples by Jesus and He also demonstrated how we should respond to the world. In order to be Christlikenss, we must follow Jesus precepts.

Praise the Lord!!!

In Christ,

In the secular world, many theories and methods have been proposed to build up self confidence, poise and a sense of self-worth, and though these traits are important, the expression of them is very different in the follower of Jesus and in a person who uses the world

Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

# The world's ideal is far frorm God. It may look good but does not satisfy God.

# God's gentleness is to do his will and have the fear of the Lord.

Christlikeness is incomplete without humility. When we humble ourselves God will lift us up.

Being meek (enduring injury with patience and without resentment) is not considered by the world to be a desirable trait. We're taught to stand up for our rights and we live in a world where many run to a lawyer any time they feel they've been wronged.

Humility is important to Christlikeness because it is a necessary step in humbling ourselves before God and following in Christ's footsteps.

How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

Gentleness is being able to be humble and be holy instead of trying to advance our own agendas like others do.The world's ideal is to promote themselves before others and they are going to try to glorify themselves before others.Humility is important for God and to be like Christ because it is showing love at his highest, the courage to be different than the world's idea of having courage, and being gentle in all things as was Jesus in the times of Herod

Q 3a How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the worlds ideal.

Christians see gentleness as strengh, Jesus was gentle but could

not have went through all that He did if He was not strong.

The world sees gentleness as weakness.

3b How is humility important to Christlikeness.

Christ was humble. We are to strive to be like Christ, so it is important

for us to be humble if we are to be like Christ.

This sort of gentleness contrasts with the world's ideal because the world favors those who try to get ahead by being aggressive. Those of the world who want to make something of themselves do so by pushing in front of others, promoting themselves, climbing the ladder to success over the bodies of their fellows.

Humility is important to Christlikeness because one needs to humble oneself to the lowest in order to save to the uttermost those who are lost.

Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

Gentleness contrast with the world's ideal because the world thinks people who are gentle are week, passave and not leaders. From God's prepective, He can't use us unless we know that He is the one that uses us for Kingdom building. So if we are so high and think we are all that, we can't recieve what he wants to gives us or do what he wants us to do. In order to follow Him, we must humble ourselves and be obediant serrvants just like His son Jesus. So we can serve people that don;t know Him.

Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

The world sees the kind of meekness Jesus talks about as a weakness, not a strength of character to strive for. The world is saturated with a "me first" attitude, while Jesus' attitude was just the opposite: "others first, me last". We can't be Christlike as long as looking out for "number one" is our main aim in this life.

Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

This world does not know this kind of gentleness because it is out for itself and expects you to be the same. They cannot see the love of God. We as Christians have to be humble like our Lord or the world will never see Him as their Lord and Savior. That means showing love when you are hurt so bad you just want to lash back at the person, or when someone is making fun of you or your salvation. When we show the love of Christ in every thing we do or say, we are being like Him.

How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

What is the world's ideal? Who determines that ideal? Is it the advertising agencies, television, movies? I think if everyone got to vote there would be elements of gentleness in the world's ideal. We let the nongentle people lead us, and we fulfill the meek role (the bad definition of meek). Jesus did not do that. He let everyone know that there was a new standard. Humility is freeing. If I am working to puff myself up, that takes a lot of effort, and it is a never ending battle. I'm always going to have to surpass my earlier feat. If I am doing My Lord's will, I will want to do more for Him, and that is stimulating.

Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

Gentleness is viewed as weakness in America. Two attitudes co exsists: either I am too good to help you or I will take everyhting you have.

Knowing that you are just as loved as the souls that fill the prisons, or the crazy Hollywood elites, that non is better whether you created this study or are just being introduced to it, Christ loves us all, perfectly and not according to works should humble you above all else. What an awesome God! This is important because Christ never held an attitude of superiority. Therefore, to be Christlike is to be a humble servant to everyone you meet, see, or run into on this planet.

What a great answer. Your everyday walk is what is important. The things you do in silence and alone count sometimes more than a public oration or a giant gathering. Imagine, if every person did what you have said...show love when you hurt...would we eventually evolve into a peaceful world?

Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

The world's idea for meekness is one who is fragile, a person who cannot stand up for himself, a person who is taken advantaged of, but to be meek as requires a person to be, first of all, obedient to the Word of God and with an ear for the Spirit of God. They are gentle in heart and spirit, and because of this nature they also exhibit a kind nature.

To be Christlike, we must also be humble. If we are to walk in His steps, humility must be in our character as Christ was humble. When we look at the passion of Christ the very essence of humility is displayed and is a pattern for us to follow.

Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

The world sees meekness as weakness. The world thinks that it means to be submissive and without character. The world uses people to get what it wants.

Christians see meekness as being gentle, humble, loving, patient. They don't rely on themselves or trust in others to get where they are. They rely on God. This is important because God uses the meek to turn the world toward Him. He cannot use the proud and self serving person for this purpose.

Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness?

I once believed that a meek person was someone with no backbone, someone that was easily tread upon. I undestand now that meekness [humbleness] is a virtue. It doesn't mean that one should hide away when there is controversy, it means that they should remember their primary focus and that is God. It is the WWJD in life, if everyone would truly try to think about what Jesus would before they act, this world would surely be a better place.

Folks today try to define their purpose, by what they do or what they own instead of by who they are. Jesus knows who we are, he knows our HEART. Jesus lost his temper with the money changers and I believe that if we are fighting for CHRIST instead of goods or possessions that we should use every resource we have and our No. 1 resource is the Bible.

Again, if we think we know it all and can do it all ourselves, we do not need Jesus. Not only because we know Jesus, but because we love Him, we need to open and willing to do what he asks.

Q3.

a. How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal?

Wars, political conflicts, murderers - society dictates and teaches violence constantly. We read the newspapr, watch the new on TV and listen to the new on the radio - nothing changes unless it's the region of the world where a new conflict as popped up. Hate and violence are taught by both parents and grandparents, sometimes telling the young it's the way of the curch and it's teachings, so even the young can get suckered into it. Who is going to be left to inherit the earth?

b. How is humility important to Christlikeness?

Christ is the epitomy of humbleness. He didn't consider Himself above or better than anybody else. Not so of so many today - Adolph Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Amin - who put themseles above on a pedestal believing all should subject themselves to them when there were not even the Messiah, the one who came to earth to die fo rour (for my) sins!! We should, maybe, humble ourselves to wash someone's feet and therefore, become more Christlike.
