Q2. Rejoicing in Our Sufferings

Recommended Posts

Q2. (Romans 5:2-5) According to this passage why should we rejoice in our sufferings and tribulations? One by one, what is the importance to our lives of: perseverance, tried character, and hope?

We should rejoice because we have hope that only God can give us through His saving grace which is given freely by God to all that have faith in Jesus Christ. For one day this world as we now know will pass away and and those that have rightly taken a right stand for God will be able to glory in the tribulation that we face when we are patiently leaning and depending on our faith in Jesus Christ, that no matter what I know that Jesus will make it all rigth because He is a just God. Their fore i wait on the Lord and lean not to my own understanding because my hope, faith and trust is in God.

Q2. (Romans 5:2-5) According to this passage why should we rejoice in our sufferings and tribulations?

We can rejoice in suffering and tribulations knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance....these build our character and help us to become like our Savior!

One by one, what is the importance to our lives of:

perseverance :or long suffering, is a fruit of His Spirit. It produces patience and fortitude in our character, to keep walking the walk of faith and trust in Him as we go through lives of uncertainty.

tried character: This is maturity of character, approved faith and tried integrity. This character produces the habit of joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation. It brings us into stability and balance, so we don't live like yo yo's, up one day and down the next.

and hope: Never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. Hope gives us confidence in our final outcome....with Him.

I'm experiencing this process and see some of the results, for which I'm so thankful....In 1979, I cried out to Him for healing for a troubled marriage. He answered with a promise to heal our marriage but said "You're both too damaged from childhood trauma to just put a band aid on....I'm going to lance you clear to the bone like a boil".....It's nearly 30 years later, and He has been doing just that, through deliverance, inner healing, much pain, but steady progress toward a restored marriage. I thought of divorce a number of times during severe tribulation, but He held onto both of us, and we will celebrate 42 years of marriage next month....and He is still at work in us!

Scriptures says that suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope. And that hope is a demonstration of God's love poured into us.

Suffering is humanity's equalizer - all have suffered but our Christian suffering takes on a different meaning to us and the world which is watching. Be clear that we are speaking of righteous suffering, not suffering that we have brought on ourselves. Not every suffering will produce endurance, character or hope. Rejoicing in our suffering takes on another meaning. I understand "rejoicing" as the assurance that God will sustain us, not simple rejoicing for the sake of it.

By enduring our suffering, humanity witnesses the presence of God's fruits- whether we receive peace, understanding, resolution, satisfaction. (It is a personal-painful experience yet we know that our experiences are not simply for us at all times.) Endurance is a excellent reflection of our dependence on God to sustain us and get us through.

The character, the persons we display and evolve into after the suffering, will reflect the God we take into the world. Again the audience is watching and taking notes. We are not to behave as actors, but as children of God changed, renewed, restored. The realness of the experience will demonstrate in the real character changing effects that surface in the continued journey . Character is not fleeting, so what we take away from our suffering is God's gift of hope that results in our being witnesses and reflections of the God we serve; esp. witnesses to the world that does not know God.

So hope is the ever lingering blessing of love that derives from our suffering. Hope generates the peace and joy we spread to others sometimes amid our suffering and as a push towards our rejoicing- yet in the midst of the suffering hope most often is not yet realized. Again hope reflects the truth of our dependence, faith and assurances of God. Hope may not always be spoken strongly, held up high or seen at ever turn after the experience of suffering, but like faith hope endures and it sets us apart for the rest of humanity through the grace of God.

Q2. (Romans 5:2-5) According to this passage why should we rejoice in our sufferings and tribulations? One by one, what is the importance to our lives of: perseverance, tried character, and hope?

The suffering and tribulations that God sends our way are certainly causes to rejoice! In these, God gives us the strength to overcome our trials.

Perseverance is important in secular and christian, especially, prayer, life. We may often need to try more than once to succeed at a project or to accomplish something. The Olympic atheletes are excellent examples of perseverance, with the many hours of practice that they put in.

Tried character is strong character. By being tested over and over, we learn what character traits are good to develop. Doing the righteous thing becomes habit for us, and we may also learn the distasteful result of doing the un-righteous thing!

Hope is guiding our vision towards the future, and hope grows more solid as we find fulfillment of God's promises to us along the paths of our lives.

This is a problem nonChristians have trouble with. There was a line in "Evan Almighty" where God was talking with Evan's wife at the fish restaurant. "God" said; "if you pray for patience, I'll give you opportunities to learn patience. If you pray for love, I'll give you opportunities to show your love."

This line needs to be written in some book somewhere, it explains so much. We, as humans, want our life to be perfect, which it never will be. And as a catastrophy happens, we question why us. But what happens afterward is the lesson.

We need to remember it is in God's time, not ours.

Q2. (Romans 5:2-5) According to this passage why should we rejoice in our sufferings and tribulations?

Because we rejoice in the hope and glory of GOD. Suffering produces perserverance, character and hope. Hope is what God molds into us through tribulation. Suffering is the classroom that GOD uses to develop HIS CHARACTER in us.

One by one, what is the importance to our lives of:

Perseverance,

To stand and deliver, no matter how difficult, to produce, never wavering, to press on, to move forward.

Tried Character,

Our experiences, our life lessons, our firm convictions. Our Christ-like character. Tried, proved, and tested.

Hope

Knowing that we are GOD's children, in all we are and in all we do. The path we have chosen is one we are sure of for we know Who we are, Why we are, and Where we are going. We don't walk blindly we walk with our eyes and our hearts open in strength and conviction lead by the Holy Spirit.

We should rejoice in all that God gives us, including our trials and tribulations. It is through overcoming these trials, that we become stronger (much as a weight lifter can only become stronger by lifting more and more weights.) As we overcome these trials, our faith becomes stronger - this stronger faith produces character. Character is the quality of being approved by God. This brings us closer to God, who is our Hope. Our hope is found in God and in the Holy Spirit who lives within us.

Perseverance:

My husband is a jeweler and I always think of how diamonds are formed from carbon when I read about pressure. Here's a little paragraph from a diamond website:

"Diamond is the stable form of carbon at high pressure and temperature conditions. At a temperature of 1325

Any trials & tribulations tend to make us stronger in our faith. It also gives God the opportunity to show His favor, grace and love toward us. GLORY!!!

Perseverance-- strength to hold up & endure the hardships gives us patience.

Tried Character-- special testing to see how we hold up against adversity. Gives us a testimony & hope to walk in The Spirit.

Hope-- gives us the ability to know who we are in Christ and where we are headed.

Without one or the other we are headed for disaster. God is the only Way. We must go through each to grow in The Lord and to experience the works of The Holy Spirit.

Each day we are faced with choices. Once we have made the decision to follow Christ and allow Him to be Lord of our lives, we still must continue to make that choice every day. Each time a difficulty or temptation arises, we have to make a choice...to choose to believe God and trust Him and continue to follow Him, or to turn away. Perseverance is simply making the choice over and over to follow God... even when things are ugly and are not going the way we think they should.

This is how we learn and grow in the Lord.

It is like building muscle...the more we use a particular muscle, the stronger it becomes.

As we grow stronger in the Lord, our knowledge grows and our hope increases. We begin to seek His wisdom and truth and it makes us stronger still. The more we know, the more confident we are in our decisions.

We should rejoice in our sufferings and tribulations because God is using them to teach us perseverance, character and hope.

Perseverance is important to our lives to keep us from giving up, we will endure with God's strength which produces in us patience which helps produce character.

Character is important because good character is formed through patiently persevering through sufferings and tribulations with the hope of entering a far better place.

Hope is important because without hope we will not persevere with patience through our sufferings and tribulations but will instead allow sin to overcome us and we will fail to see God's promises fulfilled.

We should rejoice in our sufferings and tribulations because God is making us into the vessel that He can use for His kingdom. PERSERVERENCE- we learn patience. TRIED CHARACTER- learning from our tests will help us in looking at our lives, what is really in our hearts, that we may help others. We should rejoice in our tribulations and sufferings because God cares about our lives and He loves us. He still wants to be involved with us. He wants us learn and be like Jesus

Perseverabce is important because if we didn't have it we would give up and not learn what God wants us to learn. God would not be happy about that but He would still love us.

Tried character is important because it shows Jesus in us. Unbelievers see this in us and wonder what is different about us and want to have it also. When they question us we can tell them what we have: Salvation through Jesus.

In hope we are looking forward to heaven and being with Jesus forever. If we love Jesus like He loves us, we should be loving other people the same way like Jesus loved us. So we can give them hope.

We should rejoice in our sufferings and tribulations, even though it is very hard to understand why these troublesome circumstances happen, ther is victory in Jesus Name;as christians we wait for the glory of God that we will all share some day..

Perseverance is endurance and patience.Character,we experience or is a testing of oneself. Our "Hope" is always trusting in God.

God builds all these elements in us,which strengthens us in Jesus Christ; knowing God will fulfill all his promises as we live in this world or when we leave this world to be with Him in Heaven..

Q2. (Romans 5:2-5) According to this passage why should we rejoice in our sufferings and tribulations? One by one, what is the importance to our lives of perseverance, tried character, and hope?

It is in our sufferings and tribulations, if we submit to God, that we are molded to Christ's image. If we didn't have these we would be like all the meddlesome gossips.

We are conformed to His image through tribuations which work in us

1. Perseverance: the steadfast pursuit of an objective. It implies a continuous process. We press toward the goal and our adversities advance us toward the Christlike character He is working in us.

2. Tried character: character is the collective qualities that distinguish us from other people. Our characters are being tested in the flames of affliction to produce the Christlike sweetness we desire and to rid us of the dross so that we may have hope.

3. Our hope is Christ and being conformed to His image.

As always I have a long ways to go.

God Bless!!

We should rejoice in our sufferings and trials because they make us real in our relationship with Jesus. Makes me think of going through difficulties with a friend; we emerged on the other side as even dearer friends, having a deeper love and greater respect for one another.

Persevering through trials and afflictions serves to purify our souls, creating a true character that can be trusted and is ready for the future.

James 1:12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. (NIV)

Luke 21:19 By your endurance you will gain your lives. (NIV) By your steadfastness and patient endurance you shall win the true life of your souls. (Amplified)

Q2. (Romans 5:2-5) According to this passage why should we rejoice in our sufferings and tribulations? One by one, what is the importance to our lives of: perseverance, tried character, and hope?

:) Just because we've been justified by faith does not mean that our lives will be without suffering. God uses suffering in our lives to our benefit. We must rejoice because suffering works perseverance. when we live at peace with God we've the opportunity persevere in the storm of life. troubles and trials cannot harm us.

:) Perseverance develops through suffering and perseverance create proven character. people who can persevered trials can be trusted.

:) Proven or tried character develops hope - Hope develops when we see that we can stand difficulties in our lives and endure.

:) Hope in God does not disappoint us. from the depth of our suffering and from the pain of our perseverance we are experiencing God's love being poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Hope grows from the love that is given to us by His Spirit in our lives.

Q2. (Romans 5:2-5) According to this passage why should we rejoice in our sufferings and tribulations? One by one, what is the importance to our lives of: perseverance, tried character, and hope?

WE rejoice in suffering because we know it builds perseverace, character and hope. If we suffer for nothing than there is no reason to rejoice, but our sufferings have a purpose, so we rejoice. As Christ suffered so shall we. Paul counted it all joy to suffer for Christ's sake.

perseverance- means we can go through without losing our minds and falling apart. We can endure with patience, knowing that this too shall pass, if God be for me who can be against me?

Character- what we hold fast too. When all is well in your life it's easy to speak of faith, but the true test is when you are suffering, your convictions or lack thereof will come shining thru.

hope- that which we know will be. Our hope of heaven is not as a wish, but as a firm belief in that which we know to be, but have not yet seen.
