Craig Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Q2. (Ephesians 2:19a) If we are fellow-citizens with the Jewish believers, what are we citizens of? In what sense are we "holy" or "saints"? We are fellow-citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God in this world. We are "holy" or "saints" because we are santified through our confession of faith in, and the commitment of our lives to the Lord Jesus Christ. Through grace and the sacrifice of shed blood on the cross for the atonement of our sins by Jesus are we made "holy" and "saints" -- only through the grace of Yahweh. Quote

In what sense are we "holy" or "saints"? Exposition We are part of the kingdom of God, a holy nation. As noted in the lesson, the Greek word used here is hagios, "pertaining to being dedicated or consecrated to the service of God, holy, sacred," here, of people, "holy ones."[13] Previously only Jews had the status of God's holy people. Now it is granted to Gentile believers as well. Quote

truth2me Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 We are fellow citizens of God's dear children; his family. Our home is heaven; God is our Father. This world therefore, is NOT our home; we are not to love this world and are always 'discontented' with this life although we are joyful and expectant of God's mercy and love. Quote

Old Jerry Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 We are fellow-citizens with the Jewish believers in the Kingdom of God. God first grafted them into the Kingdom of God and then had his son sacrificed so that the rest of us could also become citizens with them. The only sense that we are “holy” or “saints” is that we have the Holy Spirit in us and the fact that Jesus died for our sins. That is the only thing that makes us holy. Quote
parkerslope Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 All believers in Jesus Christ have been added to the church or Kingdom of God by God, the Father - Acts 2:47. And in Galatians 3:27 it says that, "there are no Jew nor Gentile in Christ by immersion. Jesus is holy and so He made us holy. Saints mean "holy ones". Quote
JoanG Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 We are citizens of the Christian family. We all share the same Father and the same brother. The same Holy Spirit dwells within each of us. I feel we are "holy" because the Holy Spirit dwells in each of us. We are actually considered a temple in which one can find God in our hearts. Quote

In what sense are we "holy" or "saints"? Consequently we are citizens of the kingdom of God and members of God's holy household. But really the relationship, because of Jesus' intervention we become heirs of God and Co-heirs with Christ. If we think of the love the father of the prodigal so had for his heirs we can get some sense of the welcome we get as we are usurered into the kingdom of God by our Lord Jesus Christ. We are holy in the sense that we are set apart by God through Jesus. Quote
