Jonathan Edwards
Paul had such a deep understanding of the kerygma. It was so central to his heart and mind. It was a Catholic message that Paul was preaching: ALL MEN to be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth. He was so convinced that God the eternal King, immortal, invisible and the only wise God called him to the ministry. No wonder Paul had no use for vain babblings concerning spurious Gnostic genealogies and heterodox teachings. He was convinced that we as Christians are the Body of Christ. In water baptism, we have put on Christ. We have been transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light; we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, and a peculiar people. We have no time to end up in arguments about New Age doctrines, theosophical discussions, and arguing with naysayers who aren't EVANGELISTIC . We are an Apostolic people, evangelistic preaching and evangelistic outreach are in our blood. We cannot do otherwise. We take the high road while others are caught up in ashes, arguing about things that aren't biblical, not evangelistic,; we move on and get caught up in divisions and strifes. It seems that the Ephesian church was getting sidetracked by heterodox teachers, and confusing young believers. They were getting caught up in forms of gnostic Judaism instead of going out witnessing about the Lord Jesus Christ.
t-c
Q1. (1 Timothy 2:1-4) Why does Paul emphasize salvation of all mankind in this letter? What does this suggest about the practice of evangelism in the Ephesus church? Because it’s God’s desire that all men be saved. Paul includes Kings and others who are in authority over the people of Ephesus and Asia Minor. He’s looking at all people, whether they are for or against the Christians, as potential believers in Jesus Christ. That God desires everyone to come to repentance and follow Jesus. It gets back to when Jesus was healing and preaching, saying,“the kingdom of heaven is near.” Many of the people thought it was a political movement, but it wasn’t; it’s always been a spiritual movement, not a political overthrow of Roman rule but a spiritual movement of repentance and salvation for all of God’s people, threw Christ and Him alone. From the king to the beggars on the street.
Viv Kerwin
On 1/9/2009 at 12:44 PM, Pastor Ralph said: Q1. (1 Timothy 2:1-4) Why does Paul emphasize salvation of all mankind in this letter? What does this suggest about the practice of evangelism in the Ephesus church? It’s a common thread through most of Paul’s letters so the problem of exclusivity toward Jews was a common disagreement in most of the churches. Paul often used OT scripture to prove that from the beginning, the Gentiles were included in God’s plan of salvation.
Eldress Rowe
Paul emphasizes salvation of all mankind in this letter because false teachers were misleading the people as to salvation in Jesus Christ. Jesus, being no respecter of person can to save all who would believe in Him and accept Him as Savior, not just Jews. He came to the Jews first but they rejected Him. The practice of evangelism in the Ephesus church was contrary to what Jesus said because they were catering to the Jews. They were focused on an exclusive salvation, presenting Jewish genealogies and myths which was contrary to the "Great Commission" to go into all the world and make disciples. t-c
Q1. (1 Timothy 2:1-4) Why does Paul emphasize salvation of all mankind in this letter? What does this suggest about the practice of evangelism in the Ephesus church? Because up until the time of Jesus, God was the God on the nation of Israel. He was their God and they were his people exclusively. But when Jesus came on the scene He became the savior of all mankind. Every people group. And because God desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Paul emphasizes the importance of praying for those in need of salvation, especially within the church. Not really sure about this question: it either means that evangelism wasn’t practiced widely in that church or it was only directed towards the Jewish community of the church. One other possibility is that the “false teachers” only focused on disputable doctrine and completely neglected evangelism.
Clelie
Because false teachers were upsetting the truth of the gospel for salvation Paul emphases on bringing the true message of salvation to all mankind.
Zanele Tlhakanelo
Paul emphasize salvation of all mankind because this is the will of God. The Word of God says "For God loved the world that He gave us His onle begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have an everlasting life." Therefore, this wonderful gift of salvation is not for the selected people but for all mankind. The Word of God says " Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." Again emphasizing every meaning that both Jews and Gentiles are counted as part of the heirs with Christ. Evangelism in Ephesus was confined to only the people in that area and all other people were excluded. Therefore, Paul had to address the myth that Christ only came for the Jews and the false doctrine that rejected other people as chosen by God to receive the wonderful gift of salvation as it is for everybody who declares that Christ is Lord and Savior, those who open their hearts and let Christ rule in their lives. crissy464
Paul emphasizes salvation of all mankind, because the people had became so engaged in preaching their own way, and praying for just the people of the church which left a bunch of people out. God does not want this. When we pray, we should pray for everyone. This suggests that the evangelism of the church had become false. God does not want anyone to die, Jew or Gentile, he wants the Word of God, the gospel message, to be preached to all nations
Sister Evelyn
Q1. (1 Timothy 2:1-4) Why does Paul emphasize salvation of all mankind in this letter? The Good News has universal scope: it is not directed only to people of one race, one sex, or one national background. God loves the whole world and sent his Son to save sinners. (John 3:16). His mercy and promise of salvation reaches you, your loved ones, and those who are still far away from him. (Acts: 2:39). What does this suggest about the practice of evangelism in the Ephesus church? They engaged in false teachers/teachings. They were so focused on Jewish and myths, the minutiae of the Scriptures, that they forgot the Great Commission the main reason of Christ's command to declare the gospel of salvation to the world. Funmilayo
Q1. (1 Timothy 2:1-4) Why does Paul emphasize salvation of all mankind in this letter? What does this suggest about the practice of evangelism in the Ephesus church? *Paul emphasized salvation of all mankind in this letter because God wants all men to be saved.(1Tim.2:4) *This suggests that prior to Paul's letter, the practice of evangelism in the Ephesians church was exclusive & haphazard. It was selective : the Gentiles & those in position of authority were largely left unevangelized while all attention was focused on the Jews. hanks
Q1. (1 TIMOTHY 2:1-4) Why does Paul emphasize salvation of all mankind in this letter? What does this suggest about the practice of evangelism in the Ephesus church? God’s desire is for all men to be saved (Eze 33:11; John 3:16; 2 Pet 3:9). In order for this to happen they must hear the Word of truth. They must hear about the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. They must understand that He is the way, the truth, and the life; and that no one comes to salvation except through Him (John 14:6). They must read or hear the true gospel. But this was not happening here in Ephesus because the false teachers were preaching Jewish legalism, myths, and genealogies – underemphasizing Christ and faith. The gospel must go out to the Gentiles, to the whole world. Paul therefore urged them to pray for all men, without distinction of rank, race, or nationality; so that they may be saved and may come to the full knowledge of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer is important to effective evangelism. Unless God works in peoples' hearts to make the proclamation of the gospel effective, there will be no genuine saving response. Jesus said, "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him" (John 6:44).
Old Jerry
Paul emphasizes salvation of all mankind because that was the great commission. It would have also made is so that the government was suspicious of their motives. It suggests that they should be trying to evangelize all the people. Debra Grant
Q1. (1 Timothy 2:1-4) Why does Paul emphasize salvation of all mankind in this letter? What does this suggest about the practice of evangelism in the Ephesus church? 1. Salvation to all mankind, because the people was so engaged in preaching their own way, and praying for only the people of the church which left out others. We should pray for everyone. 2. Paul emphasizes again there is one God and one mediator between God and man, which is Christ Jesus. Paul reaffirms that Christ came that all might be saved. Lenore
Salvation is the free gift to anyone who believes. It's not just for kings, noble or noteworthy people but rather for everyone. The provision was made for everyone to be saved, however everyone will not be saved. There is a heaven and a hell. If all men nee salvation then the church must be evangelizing
Atuk Timothy
Paul emphasizes salvation for all to show that God's desire is for all men Jews and Gentiles alike to be saved and come to the saving knowledge of the truth. This suggests emphasis should be in preaching God's undiluted and about God's love for all mankind Jn 3:16. The body of Christ should be united in love and fellowship which pleases God rather than teachings that cause division.
