Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

Paul is reminding Timothy as a kind of reassurance to his (Timothy's)strong faith. It is as if he is saying to Timothy,"We knew this was coming. Remember how we talked about this? You know what you have to do."

The knowledge should strengthen Timothy's ministry, and give understanding to the church's perception of the situation.

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

Paul is reminding him that scripture has already foretold apostasy. He is encouraging Timothy to keep the faith, even in the midst of and being surrounded by those who are controlled by demonic spirits. Paul doesn't want Timothy to lose faith nor his zeal for the task at hand.

The message is intended to strengthen Timothy and the Church to continue to stand fast and immovable, always abounding in the word of God, for the work done in the Lord is not in vain.

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

He told him these things so he wouldnt be suprised or alarmed by them. He wanted him to stay on the path and to teach the others so they wouldn't be deceived by the false teachings.

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron)

Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy?

Apostasy will lead us away from sound doctrine; We will become insensitive, heartless, loveless, to the things of God.

What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

In the latter times - and I believe we are living in the latter times, as did they, during the times Paul was living in: I have to ask myself, has the church today, become insensitive to the things of God and to each other?

Sound doctrine is - Christ is coming for his faithful bride - Rev 16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

Rev 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

Sound doctrine is teaching us, to always be on the watch, for there is one, Satan, who is out to kill and destroy, to sear our conscience, making us insensitive to the things of God., leaving One who's garments would no longer be clean, instead they would stand naked, in sin, not looking and waiting for, the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy because what is said in those predictions has happened in the church at Ephesus, which have upset and overwhelmed the people of the church

On his ministry and the church's perception of the situation, this knowledge should have the effects that Timothy keeps on being faithful in his ministry, not being upset overwhelmed by what is happening in church, and that the church has great perception in its assessment of the situation so that the people keep hold of their faith in Christ

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy?

Jesus himself had foretold this falling away in the Last Days:

"At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved." (Matthew 24:10-13). The theme of this chapter is the same as the battle that Jesus had with the religious leaders: outward righteousness vs. inner godliness.

What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

Paul reminds Timothy of this prediction so that he will not be surprised or overwhelmed by the chaos he sees in the church at Ephesus. Rather than lose heart, he should be more motivated to

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

Paul is reminding Timothy of the increase of wickedness in the last days, Jesus foretold about it. Paul is warning him incase he sees these things happen, he should be far away from them, he should distance himself from such persons or thing. It was imminent that it was going to happen through prophesy, so paul as his apostal is raising the alarm, his kind of telling him be eqquiped so that he is not caught by surprise or be overwhelmed.

This knowledge would equip them, on how to prepare his church in teaching, in showing them what to do so that it could not easily interefere with the affairs of his ministry.

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

Paul reminds Timothy and the church so they will stay close to the Lord and know whin the false doctrine appears and will not turn from the truth. The effect should draw Timothy and the church closer to God, let the Holy Spirit lead them when the situation arises, so they will recognize the false teaching, the lies, and the false teachers.

Paul reminds Timothy and the church of predictions concerning widespread apostasy because in the future some will abandon their faith to follow deceiving spirits and lies taught by demons.

The effect this knowledge should have on Timothy's ministry and the church's perception of the situation is they should not be surprised or overwhelmed by the chaos they see.

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

To be careful of the company you keep, not all teaching come from the Holy Spirit, but false teaching come by way of Satan, and that we who are called by the name christians, and that christ-like people are not to fall under false teaching, but are to renounce it, abandon it, distance ourself from some person or thing.

This knowledge should have the effect for ministry and churches to not be surprised, or over whelmed by the chaso that can be created by satan false teaching and that what the churches requirements by God. To not be loveless, but be ready for persecution to stand on the true Gospel, and not compromise the true Gospel, do not deal in corruptness, do not be a dead church and always be a faithful church unto the doctrine of Jesus Christ.

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

Paul as the spiritual father to Timothy needs to remind his son in the faith about the coming "falling away" of some who would entertain false teachings so that he will not be surprised or overwhelmed.

The effect of false teaching is division and strife but if the church is forewarned of the things that's going to happen in the coming days helped them hold steadfastly in the truth and keep them established.

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

Widespread apostasy within the church (universal) perverts the message, doctrine, and purpose of the church.

The should be sensitive to this but instead has produced the crusades, Cromwell; Calvin; Winthrop; the bloody wars within the church during the reformation; the Spanish church in the New World to name a few.

All of these people and movements murdered people in the name of their perverted view of Christianity. Christians should be about following Jesus Christ and taking on the Mind of Christ. Being a follower of Christ is about love. God is love. Not claiming the market on Christianity and then murdering those that don't buy it. Jesus Christ didn't do that nor did He promote it.

Part of the gospel is the unity of the body of Christ not division or sectionalism. That is satanic and a fruit of the flesh.

Today denominations divide rather than unit. That is apostasy.

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

Paul reminds Timothy of this so that he is not surprised or caught off guard. Instead Timothy will be prepared and watchful.

Knowledge and preparation of this before hand prevents ministry from being thrown off and church members from becoming disillusioned. Foreknowledge should prepare the church to deal with this situation.

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

Paul reminds Timothy and the church of the widespread apostasy because he does not want to church to fall into the hands of those who want to deceive the people and lead them away from the true teaching of the Gospel of Christ. The church will be aware and not be fooled into believing lies and will be able to teach new believers the truth of the Gospel of Christ.

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

Paul wants Timothy to stand firm in the faith of the true gospel. Standing firm against opposition takes a firm character; Paul doesn't want Timothy to cave in to false teachings. Knowing that false teaching is to be found in the church leadership, Timothy can be alert to test the leaders' teaching and not go along with the crowd. Timothy can also enlighten the church and help it see false teaching and not follow a wrong gospel. Paul wants Timothy to be aware of what's going on; he's giving Timothy a heads up.

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

Paul reminds Timothy and the church of predictions concerning widespread apostasy so that Timothy can be on the alert for false teaching and hold fast to the true gospel. Paul is helping them be alert and also giving them confidence that when they see apostasy that they will pay attention to their suspicions. I know that when I have doubts about church leadership or if things are going in the right direction, it helps to have a wise person whose opinion I respect affirm that. Timothy, being young, might doubt his own judgment, but since Paul has given him this warning, and he knows that Paul has divine inspiration, Timothy will be less likely to doubt his own judgment. This should also help the church to see false teachings for what they are.

Paul was reminding Timothy to teach the truth in love and warn the church about the false teachers, they were following the devil and not the Holy Spirit, their consciences had been seared. I think in many churches today they are not teaching the word and gotten into teaching to tickle the ears of the hearers. Paul is trying to get the church to wake up and see what is happening.

Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

Timothy, like each one of us, needs the encouragement and guidance. Paul helps him to ready his mind and soul to future events and to strengthen his faith. By doing so, the ministry will get stronger in the message to give for others to find the Light again. It's a call for a refuel of energy and ardent strength and resistance against the enemy, as well as solidarity among the members. It's a renewal to perserverence.

Paul reminds Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy because he wanted them to aware of what was to come so that they could be prepared for false prophets and depend upon the Holy Spirit to guide them as they test the spirit to see if it is of God. With is knowledge, Timothy and the church were in a position to use wisdom and to be guided by the Holy Spirit; Timothy in his preaching of the Gospel of truth and the church when sitting under one who is teaching.
