iam4-1god
Q2. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) In what ways does Scripture equip a Christian for ministry? In what different ways can the Scriptures function, according to verse 16? The Word can show us when we are wrong, show us how to correct others, it can build us up when we are down, it can calm our fears, it can show us the right thing to do. The Word can teach us how to handle other people who don't necessarily see things the way we do. The Word is the most important book that we can have in our house, and we must pick it up every day and read it, with help from the Spirit, to understand how to live and conduct ourselves in a godly way. masika
Q2. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) In what ways does Scripture equip a Christian for ministry? In what different ways can the Scriptures function, according to verse 16? Scriptures have laid down the way which leads to perfection, and that if any one were perfect, he would find in the Scriptures all the instruction which he needed in those circumstances. There is no deficiency in the Bible for man, in any of the situations in which he may be placed in life; and the whole tendency of the book is to make him who will put himself fairly under its instructions, absolutely perfect. The idea is, that whatever good work the man of God desires to perform, or however perfect he aims to be, he will find no deficiency in the Scriptures, but will find there the most ample instructions that he needs. He can never advance so far, as to become forsaken of his guide. He can never make such progress, as to have gone in advance of the volume of revealed truth, and to be thrown upon his own resources in a region which was not thought of by the Author of the Bible. No new phase of human affairs can appear, in which it will not direct him; no new plan of benevolence can be started, for which he will not find principles there to guide him; and he can make no progress in knowledge or holiness, where he will not feel that his holy counsellor is in advance of him still, and that it is capable of conducting him even yet into higher and purer regions. Let us, then, study and prize the Bible. It is a holy and a safe guide. It has conducted millions along the dark and dangerous way of life, and has never led one astray. The human mind, in its investigations of truth, has never gone beyond its teachings; nor has man ever advanced into a region so bright that its light has become dim, or where it has not thrown its beams of glory on still far distant objects. We are often in circumstances in which we feel that we have reached the outer limit of what man can teach us; but we never get into such circumstance in regard to the word of God. The Bible is our standard for testing everything else that claims to be true. It is our safeguard against false teaching and our source of guidance for how we should live. It is our only source of knowledge about how we can be saved. God wants to show us what is true and equip us to live for him.

Cynthia Wilson
The Scripture has given us everything that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue...(II Peter 1:3). It is through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit and a daily submission to the Lord Jesus Christ that we able to become vessels fit for the master's use. "But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work." (II Timothy 2:20-21). The gold and silver being representative of obedient Christians and the wood and clay being representative of Christians who fail to honor and obey the Lord. Verse 16 is applied in various churches for doctrine, reproof and correction, for instruction in righteousness. One must first of all learn how to submit to authority, receive reproof , correction and instruction in righteousness. A continual renewal of the mind by reading and meditating in the Word and applying the Word in one's life. Cynthia
Snaps
Q2. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) In what ways does Scripture equip a Christian for ministry? Men are answerable to God and to each other for the way they work. The basis for wisdom and understanding are in the Scriptures. The equipped Christian knows the scriptures intimately and builds the conduct of his life on them. The scriptures have indications that teach us how to respond in every situation. Not only that, but there are very many stories showing how this has worked out in the lives of various people, and even poetry showing us how to worship and enjoy the presence of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in our lives. By study of scripture, we can see the principles of God in operation. We can apply this understanding to our own lives, and learn to live as did the ancient men and women of God, effective in any situation, and bringing glory to God in the way we handle every situation and circumstance of life. In what different ways can the Scriptures function, according to verse 16? Scripture is valuable for instruction - basic teaching about the ways of God of those who are His disciples correction - When someone is off track, they can be shown the right way through scripture, they can be corrected training - Holy living requires training and discipline. The basis of this is supplied by Scripture, and is essential to those who are doing "the works that Gad has prepared for them to walk in." rebuking - There are times when people need a strong rebuke, when they are abusing the privilege of the company of God. Maybe this has to be a private procedure, or occasionally even a public one. The bases for that are written there in Scripture.

Soomee
Scripture is the sole authority of a Christian. Our everyday action and preaching should be totally based on that authority. When difficult issues are encountered then the instruction on the scripture should be the final. If we walk in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit then we will understand the scripture clearly and we will find out the truth and that will equip us for "right-living". If we do not depend on Holy Spirit and try to understand/interpret using our human wisdom alone then we could have trouble. Therefore the secret is the life totally depended on the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
spazzo47
Iguess when I think of ministry, I think of being inrelationship with people and teaching. Teaching is one of the parts of verse 16. Knowing scripture means that we can explain it to other people. The study of it means that we can explain key concepts to others and know where to find examples, both in the Bible and in our own lives, because through study and knowledge, it becomes a part of us. But most importantly, Scripture helps us learn how to love others. The toher things verse 16 says scripture is good for is rebuking, Correcting, and training. All of which are at times necessary in teaching. Rebuking is when you tell an immature Christian -- in love -- that they did something wrong. I had a person in my last church, whose singles small group I led, that got pregnant. There was some God given discernment in what to say to her when I saw her heavy with child, since she was repentant and the church was supportive of her. Correcting is similar to rebuking, but this is more for those who are coming back to the faith. At another church I mentored a young lady that got involved iwth a guy, would feel shame and leave the church, feel more shame and leave the guy coming back to the church, and then get back wth the guy. After the third time coming back to the church, we started having weekly meetings where we tried to discuss what she was going through and correct the behavior. Finally training I think of as being what Paul is doing for Timothy in this letter. This is encouragement, but it's also got this feeling of teaching him how to proceed.
