Old Jerry
The way that Scripture equip Christians for ministry is that it teaches the real truth. If everyone would follow the Scriptures in everyday life this world would be a much better place to live in. The Proverbs have so much wisdom in them that if we would take this wisdom and put it into practice we would be much better human beings. The different ways that Scriptures can function is by teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

Jonathan Edwards
It prevents us from falling into the heterodox doctrines of various heretics and gnostic type of sects. The Bible is our COMPASS; we have received the Gospel under the immediate teaching of the Holy Spirit. We are not misled by imposters. One Scripture is for doctrine, another for reproof, another for teaching and another for increasing in holy living. We have a sure Word of God to keep us on the narrow of holiness. We stand fast in the Holy Faith (1 John 2:24-28); we are not toss to and fro by spurious agendas of heterodox ministers. God desires that we are complete with good thoughts, good words, and good actions. A completely furnished worker has been given the Bible to be s complete man of God. Krissi
Particularly for those in the charismatic wing of the church, which now is the leading edge, it is incredibly important to ground direct revelation from God (God's still small voice, prophetic utterances, etc.) in the Bible. In my opinion, the leading edge of the church has moved too far toward undocumented, individualized, specific, quixotic God speech. For charismatics, scripture doesn't just set boundaries for such direct revelation, but also is an inward check on those revelations. A person immersed in scripture won't be looking, as much, for God's voice outside of scripture so if/when he hears God's voice to and for him directly, it will be shaped by the scriptural narrative and teachings that have already permeated his mind. In ministry -- we're all in ministry -- scripture provides basic information about Himself, the sweeping narrative of God's work in human history, and a sense of how He worked through individuals in the past. This indicates what He could do today and in the future. It tells about the afterlife and end times and how we should be living in the interim. The four categories of how scripture functions -- teaching, rebuking, correcting and training -- describe how we should use scripture. Not one of these categories are individualized or personal. We teach, rebuke, correct and train others! I suppose we could apply these to ourselves, but the word choice is awkward if this was the intention. It seems clear, then, that the author expects us to use the word in a church setting, that is, with others, more than individually. This makes sense as there was only an OT when Timothy was writing. The NT seems more devotional, individualized and aimed at a solitary reader than the OT, but maybe that is just my impression. If so, it functions more for the Christian in the process of sanctification.
Dr. Gracie L. Adderly
Q2. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) In what ways does Scripture equip a Christian for ministry? In what different ways can the Scriptures function, according to verse 16? God's word is a lamp that shows us how to live and walk; like a Spiritual compass. His Word illuminates the path for each step and, keeps us from missteps and wrong turns. Living without the Word of God is like trying to go somewhere you've never been without directions. The more thoroughly equipped, the more we will bear fruit to the glory of God. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matt. 5:6) We continually ask God to fill us with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that we may live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, (Col. 1:9-10) When we are thoroughly equipped for every good work, we grow in our relationship with God, others are helped, and most importantly, God is glorified. Eldress Rowe
Scripture is a perfect rule of faith and practice designed for the minister as well as every Christian who is devoted to God. The Scripture thoroughly furnishes us for every good work if we consult it and follow its directions, for their is a Scripture which suits every case. Whatever duty we have to do, whatever service is required from us, enough is found in the Scriptures to furnish us for it. Scripture makes us wise unto salvation if mixed with faith. It is a sure guide in our way to eternal life as it makes us wise for our souls and another world. It is profitable for all purposes of Christian life-doctrine, reproof, correction, instructions in righteousness, answers all the end of divine revelation, instructs us in that which is true, reproves us from that which is amiss, and directs us in that which is good. Katy
Q2. Every Christian is in some form of ministry and must know the Scriptures and what they say about God and how He wishes us to behave in life. Christians in ministry must know the Scriptures to enable them to teach, lead and guide their people. Knowledge of the Scriptures is also needed to rebuke and correct people who are in error. In verse 16, we are told that the Scriptures come from God and are useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness . Niyonka16
Q2. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) In what ways does Scripture equip a Christian for ministry? ANSWER: Jesus has gifted the body of Christ with spiritual leaders to “equip the saints for the work of ministry.” God does not leave us to our own shortcomings. He provides everything we need! how does god equip us for ministry? through His divine power, through the Holy Spirit, and through God’s people. jesus is the one who: pours out His Spirit on us; intercedes for us, as we pray for needed wisdom; and gifts the body of Christ with spiritual leaders to help us press forward. Also Jesus is the one from whom all these things flow. Jesus is the one who will be with you when you feel alone and inadequate. Jesus is the one who will make you more than a conqueror! It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live, what your background is, or the mess you may face. God has equipped you for ministry. He has given you an opportunity to daily make an impact wherever you go… even in the soiled linens closet of a hospital. In what different ways can the Scriptures function, according to 2 Timothy 3 verse 16? ANSWER: “All Scripture is… profitable for” four functions stated in 2 Timothy 3:16 for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. The first two functions have to do with the positive and negative of belief. Scripture is “profitable for teaching,” that is, instructing what is right and true. The second two functions have to do with the negative and positive of conduct. Scripture is “profitable…for correction,” which has the idea of correcting aberrant behavior. It is also “profitable…for training in righteousness,” which is to instruct one in right behavior. hanks
Q2. (2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17) In what ways does Scripture equip a Christian for ministry? In what different ways can the Scriptures function, according to verse 16? Scripture thoroughly prepares and equips us, as believers, for any work that God has designed and ordained for us to do. As we grow spiritually, we will find that His Word becomes an integral part of our lives as we are guided step by step to do good works that bring glory to our Lord. We are created to do good works, and Scripture, being God’s inspired Word, will equip us to perform these deeds (Eph 2:10). We are not saved merely for our own benefit but to serve Christ and build up the church (Eph 4:12). In our fight against evil, we can learn from Jesus who used Scripture to defeat the tempter (Luke 4:1-13). Because the Bible is the word of God, it functions in many ways in our lives and every portion of it is profitable. As we grow in faith, we realize that there is spiritual nourishment in every word that has proceeded from the mouth of God. The Bible is profitable for teaching about the various doctrines such as the Trinity, angels, man, sin, salvation, sanctification, the church, and future events. It is profitable for rebuking us, making us aware of the things that are displeasing to God. It is profitable for correcting us. Pointing out no only what is wrong but also the way in which it can be made right. Finally, the Bible is profitable for instruction in righteousness. The grace of God teaches us to live godly lives, but the word of God traces out in detail the things which go to make up a godly life.
