:) The unity is through the Spirit. Not through our own desire to "tolerate" another Christian, but to work very hard at maintaining unity, as the Spirit would. In other words--Spirit driven peace, unity, and love.

We are to maintain this unity in the Church today. No matter how we feel about someone, our feelings are subservient to the goal of unity. This needs to be our primary goal.

The Spirit of God(Holy Spirit)

We,the body of Christ are to maintain that unity.

The Spirit units us to that Body which He has formed, and now He says "I want you to reconize it". When you meet with fellow-believers, do you endeaver to keep the unity of the Spirit,do you realize that you belong to them and they belong to you?"But",you say they dont see things the way I do .If they belong to Christ they belong to you and you to them.We are to do this in the uniting bond of peace.

1 The Holy Spirit is the author of unity.

2. We are to endeavour to maintain it.

3. A bond of peace is a deep and wonderful thing forged of lowliness, gentleness, long suffering, and particularly bearing with one another in love, as well as walking in Truth, integrity and honesty before God. If people can do this they'll find unity with others of all sorts of denominations and tribes doing likewise. it comes out of agape love, which prefers others to self.

The Spirit brings unity, we are to maintain it. Peace is to the body as the composer is to the orchestra - each individual has to get it all together for the benefit of the whole body. This would be a primary goal for individuals and for the church body as a whole.

GOD the Holy Spirit brings about the unity spoken of in Ephesians 4:3.

All who have received Jesus Christ as personal Savior are to maintain that unity.

Colossians 3:13, 14 "Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the LORD forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."

Yes, Christian unity is definitely to be our primary goal. When unsaved people see believers in Christ doing the above verses they will want to be a part of the family of GOD.

It is the Holy Spirit working in us and through us that brings about the unity in Christ through out His kingdom on earth. The task of maintaining the God given unity is, however, upto us who belive in the One God, One Holy Spirit and One Christ who united us with our father God and our brothers and sisters in Him through His blood.

The bond of peace is an outcome of love that incepts from a unity and harmony in Christ and the Holy Spirit in the kingdom of God the father. Therefore, I believe that unity is one of the most important goals of a christian congregation.

:) EPHESIANS 4:3, Q3-- THE UNITY OF THE SPIRIT- A UNITED SPIRIT, OR ONENESS OF SPIRIT. THIS REFERS TO UNITY OF AFFECTION,OF CONFIDENCE, OF LOVE. IT MEANS THAT CHRISTIANS SHOULD BE UNITED IN TEMPER AND AFFECTION, AND NOT BE SPLIT UP INTO FACTIONS AND PARTIES.(2)-- IN THE BOND OF PEACE;--BY THE CULTIVATION OF THAT PEACEFUL TEMPER WHICH BINDS US ALL TOGETHER, AS THE HOLY SPIRIT PRODUCES IN THE HEARTS OF CHRISTIANS, WHEN IT FILLS THEM ALL WITH THE SAME LOVE, AND JOY, AND PEACE IN BELIEVING; OUR MAIN GOAL AS CHRISTIANS IS TO TRY TO LIVE IN UNITY; PRAISE THE LORD, AMEN :D

The Holy Spirit brings about unity.

We are to be unified as individuals in the church as well as a whole body through the work of the Holy Spirit.

We maintain this unity by cooperating with each other as we use our gifts to serve Christ. We are all called to serve Him but in different ways.

I think the "bond of peace" really comes from the Holy Spirit and is the peace that is beyond our understanding. We can't just have peace in tolerating anything, but if we know who we are in Christ and what our purpose is for this life as well as knowing our individual callings and gifts, we find security in doing what He set aside for us to do. We become fulfilled in that and we can stop striving and competing with each other. Our main focus and common ground is sharing the message of salvation to others and of God's great love. It's all about Him and that becomes our unifying passion. It's easier to get along with others when we are secure in God's love and purpose for our lives and we aren't caught up in the insecurities of thinking what others may be doing or getting.

Christian unity is to get every effort. That is number one. A house divided simply can not stand. So, to maintain unity even at great suffering or sacrifice is always first. We are all growing and some may still not understand their particular purpose, but if it's from God it will stand. If not, He is patient and kind while we discover and we can be towards others too.

God does reward for those times though. Even if we never see it in this life, we will still be storing eternal treasures. Our outlook should be eternal.

According to verse 3, who brings about the unity? Who is to maintain it? What is a "bond of peace," do you think? According to the wording in verse 3, is Christian unity to be a prime goal or a secondary goal for us?

The unity is a product of the Holy Spirit. It is through the Spirit that we turned to Jesus: God called us. We are Christian because we have God's Spirit within us. We are marked by it. That Spirit draws us together ino one church. It is the Holy Spirit which creates the bond of peace between fellow believers. It is the work of man which tries to undo it by argument, dissension and falsehoods. It is clear that Jesus wanted one church, because it is His body and He is at the head of it. It is so easy to find differences and to be righteous and argumentative; to sow discord between Christians. We have been amazingly productive in creating divisions. However, we are not called to do this but as a primary goal to seek unity and to encourage unity and fellowship amongst Christians.

The Spirit of God brings unity. We, through obedience to the Holy Ghost, and His spirit maintain unity. Bond of Peace is to be determined to do what is necessary in accordance with the scripture for that unity, but you can't do it alone. It takes effort from everyone to maintain unity and to bring it about peaceably. It should be a prime goal second only to the saving of the lost.

By the Holy Spirit we are bonded together in unity. It doesn't just happen. We must keep our flesh under subjection and submit ourselves to the will of God by the Spirit. In order to know the perfect will of God we must study, study, study His Word. Only then can the Spirit remind us how to apply the Word to situations that we will encounter within the body.

We can only stick together by the bond of peace (shalom is the more complete word for this) via the love of God, once again by the Spirit.

Our ability to survive as Christians is only as strong as the body as a whole. I would suggest then that unity would be a primary goal.

The Spirit of God brings unity, and we the body of Christ are to maintain it. The bond of peace seems to mean bringing together different people into a peace filled relationship. Unity is primary because we are reminded through scripture about the house that is divided and the horrible impact of that division. So many provisions for us are made through unity within the body of Christ.

The Spirit of God brings about the unity. We are commanded to maintain it.

What is a "bond of peace," do you think?

The comand greek word for bond is "that which brings various entities into a unified relationship, uniting bond". That bond is peace.

According to the wording in verse 3, is Christian unity to be a prime goal or a secondary goal for us?

This is a very important goal as Paul made it in the form of a command. The term used means to guard or keep watch that you keep the unity or harmony and accord of the body of Christ.

The Holy Spirit brings about unity. We, as Christians are to maintain or keep unity. I think the bond of peace is the peace that God gives us. Not like the peace of this world, but the peace that passes all understanding. This is the peace that is given to us by the Holy Spirit. When we are changed and living by the power of the Holy Spirit, those things that were once difficult for us to do, like forgiving or not taking offenses or giving up positions or recognitions for the good of someone else, become easier for us. We are at peace with more "giving away" than "getting". Our lives are lived for something different and for more eternal value, so those things become secondary and it's easier to maintain peace with others because so much "here" is less important. We truly live in love for others and not for ourselves.

Vs.3 says make "every" effort to maintain this unity, so I would say that would be a primary goal.

Q3.(Ephesians 4:3)

According to verse 3, who brings about the unity?

The Holy Spirit who has made all true believers one in Christ.

Who is to maintain it?

We are to live at peace with one another and thus maintain the unity of the local church.

What is a "bond of peace," do you think?

Peaceful ties between believers.

According to the wording in verse 3, is Christian unity to be a prime goal or a secondary goal for us?

Christian unity is a prime goal. Paul says we are to make every effort to keep the unity. There is enough sinfulness and selfishness in each one of us to destroy any local church or any other work of God. Therefore, we must forget our own petty and personal desires and attitudes and work together in peace for the glory of God.
