linda bass
Hate and unforgiveness blinds us spiritually by cutting us off from the forgiveness of our own sins. We can't expect God to forgive us of our own sin if we aren't willing to forgive those who have trespassed against us. In order to come into the light,we need to let go of our bitterness. We need to stop holding a grudge and forgive the person who has wronged us. Forgiveness is not an option. It is a commandment.
peacebringer
Q1. (1 John 2:7-11) How does hate and unforgiveness blind us spiritually? If we have been darkened by hurt and hate, how do we come into the light? Actually hadn't thought of that aspect and is fascinating. My mother is losing vision. She cannot see things clearly. She has areas she cannot see. When we hate, we can only see out of that limited filter. In terms of coming back into light when been hurt and hate, it involves essentially forgiveness and letting go. It may involve remember truth, particularly if at a point of anger at God, leading to darkness. Now this may serve as fodder for a blog article. Debbie Cambridge
How does hate and unforgiveness blind us spiritually? We are so distracted and consumed by hate and unforgiveness that we cannot focus on God. Hating someone takes a lot of time and headspsce. It shuts us down to love and pride takes over. If we have been darkened by hurt and hate, how do we come into the light? Confess it to God, allow the Holy Spirit to take control, surrender, forgive the person and let it go, knowing that our sins are as far as the east is from the west, that's how far he has removed our transgressions from us. Stand before God and be filled with His love.

glory
WHEN WE HATE AND DONT FORGIVE OTHERS WHO HAVE WRONGED US,WHEN WE DESIRE TO GET BACK AT OTHERS FOR HURTING US, WE END UP HURTING OUR OWN SELVES. WE CUT OFF OURSELVES FROM GOD'S FORGIVENESS BECAUSE JESUS SAID IF WE DONT FORGIVE OUR ENEMIES, NEITHER WILL HE FORGIVE US OF OUR SINS. SO WE RETAIN OUR SINS AND THIS NOW BLINDS US TO TRUTH AND LIGHT. WE COME BACK INTO THE LIGHT THROUGH GENUINE REPENTANCE FOR UNFORGIVENESS AND HATRED,CONFESSING IT TO GOD AND THEN ACCEPTING HIS FORGIVENESS BY FAITH.I ALSO HAVE HAD TO FORGIVE VARIOUS PEOPLE FOR ABUSE AND IT'S DIFFICULT.BUT FORGIVENESS IS A CHOICE AND FORGIVENESS SETS ME FREE. Athanasius the Egyptian
Our spiritual walk and growth becomes slanted, we become full of all the wrong feelings and it will effect us. But when we forgive and love, then we walk free, we dont carry that horrible burden of geting even or wishing harm. We have been shown how to forgive, the Holy Spirit quides us in all these things. We have been forgiven much, therefore let us forgive our tresspassers. When we seek His face in prayer and ask for His graceful forgiveness, we walk with Him so therefore we walk in the light, for He is that light. Athanasius the Egyptian
1John 2:11 But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him. 1John 1:6 If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. If we have hate in our heart, we are "Walking around in darkness." If we claim to have fellowship with God while we are walking in darkness, "We lie and do not live by the truth." We are blinded spiritually, first of all, because we are in darkness, but also because our fellowship and ability to commune with God are impeded as long as we remain in a state of unforgiveness. In order to come back into the light and into a state where we can hear God's voice clearly, we must forgive, as many times as necessary: Luke 17:3 So watch yourselves. wilks52
We have a new command, we should love one another. Hate blinds us, it makes us unable to see what is going on. Greta
It is like putting a knife into our hearts. When we hate and will not forgive, we will find we are cut off from God. We can not see Him or hear Him. We can only come back into the light when we forgive the person unconditionally. I have been there and know it is true. kimathi
when we hate and refuse to forgive we as christians maymthink we are ok, not knowing that this attitude separrates us from GOD. Our spiritual link with GOD is cut and we slip back to walking in the worldly blindness just like any other worldly man or woman. we know that an unforgiving spirit is of the devil. we are to ask JESUS CHRIST to forgive us of our own unforgiveness and we should regard it as sin. as much as possible we should cloth ourselves with an attitude of forgiving. AMEN.
Nightwolf
There are some wounds & hurts that we have allowed to sink their hooks deep into our hearts instead of dealing with the source of hurt quickly, we nurse and lick our wounds, trying to justify the anger & unforgiving spirit, when I thought I had overcome it, it crept up again because its root was to deep for me to remove on my own, I have to ask God's help in removing it. Jen<3
Q1. (1 John 2:7-11) How does hate and unforgiveness blind us spiritually? If we have been darkened by hurt and hate, how do we come into the light? Hate and unforgiveness blinds us spiritually because we are walking around in darkness. The Bible says if we do not forgive others, the Father will not forgive us. When we don't forgive, we are holding a grudge on someone else forgetting we are sinners just like them. We can come into the light by humbling ourselves before Jesus and forgive and show love. We have to let go of all bitterness, as hard as this may be, and forgive to be in the light. Ask Jesus to help you through!
sditoka
Q1. (1 John 2:7-11) How does hate and unforgiveness blind us spiritually? If we have been darkened by hurt and hate, how do we come into the light? First of all, by hating and harbouring unforgiveness in one's heart, one is directly disobeying our LORD Jesus Christ, who commanded us to forgive our enemies and to love our neighbours. This would shut off one's fellowship with GOD and one's neighbour. As the LORD said in Matt 6:15, that if we do not forgive men their sins, our Father will not forgive our sins. It blocks the process of divine grace in our lives and our daily garbage heaps begin to pile up pretty fast in our lives. Hate and unforgiveness blinds us to our own sins and shortcomings. They poison our minds and attitudes and also blind us to the opportunities for reconciliation. They spur us on to burn our bridges. They are very closely related to a proud heart. Someone described unforgiveness as equivalent to swallowing poison and hoping that your enemy dies. I agree with many other fellow respondents that forgiveness is a most difficult thing to do, especially if the injury issued to you is undeserved and unjust and illegal. But, nonetheless, it is a fundamental part of the Christian life that our LORD GOD has established for all members of His body. To be a Christian is to be a forgiver. No other option is given us. We come into the light by deciding to let go of our pet grudges and hates; from turning inwards on ourselves, with self pity and animosity we turn outwards with transparency, trust in GOD and love. As real as the pain of the ill will was, that caused us the injury, we are commanded by GOD to forgive totally. We release the source of our troubles, without conditions and we allow the Holy Spirit to visit our injured parts and apply his balm of peace and love. Without forgiveness, GOD the Holy Spirit cannot carry out any restorative work in our hearts.
Foofee's Nana
If we are filled with hate and unforgiveness for others we can not be forgiven by God. This hate renders us blind spiritually and we can not remain in close fellowship because we try to fool ourselves. We can come into the light by forgiving others and not holding on to the wrings. maddog
Q1. (1 John 2:7-11) How does hate and unforgiveness blind us spiritually? If we have been darkened by hurt and hate, how do we come into the light? Hate and unforgiveness blinds us because it removes us from God's forgiveness. It also takes us away from the spirit world because darkness can not exist together at the same time and in the same space. We can re-enter the light by acknowleging that the condition exists in us and we need God's forgiveness and mercy to bring us back to the light. when we don't forgive others we will not be forgiven. Colleen
God wants everything from us and He wants to be all to us. How can we focus on Him when so much of our energy is spent in holding onto the hate we feel? Hate clouds our perceptions and absorbs us. We are not then ready to see or hear what God has to say and are spiritually blinded. We come into the light by releasing those feelings, which first means we must decide that we are not the most important thing. It is our ego, our self, that desires to hold onto hate, the feeling that we have been wronged and we are greater than the one who has wronged us. The light shines on those who realize that they are the least. When we have lost our sense of self-importance, that is when God can begin to do His work through us. royk
Q1. (1 John 2:7-11) How does hate and unforgiveness blind us spiritually? If we have been darkened by hurt and hate, how do we come into the light? Hate and unforgiveness are things we can equate to the heart in that they are negative emotions relative to our experiences in life. How can we server if we are busy holding on to negative emotions? How can we notice the problems of others we could serve if our mind is stuck in the past. We can only 'do' one thing well at a time, so being stuck in the spat harms our ability to be present and to enjoy the truth of the moment, the only thing that is real. Listening to Jesus and how he came to heal and to save all, not to judge, this is how we learn what is unconditional love, perfect love that awaits us, love to reach into our heart and heal the hurt of hate and unforgiveness, and disappointment. It is only by knowing God better, and getting closer to Him and His word and Hiss light that we have hope for deep fulfillment, for real love that can't be disappointed. This is the way to the light, to real truth.

lastminutecall
Q1. (1 John 2:7-11) How does hate and unforgiveness blind us spiritually? If we have been darkened by hurt and hate, how do we come into the light? Allowing hate and unforgiveness to take hold is much like putting on sunglasses, then stronger ones then stronger till at last you see nothing but darkness. The only way to free ones self from this kind of blindness is to take your complaint to God, ask forgiveness and ask the Holy spirit to change or correct your heart and thinking to be like christs. Remember, If anyone asks something good of God, He will with abundance give you the Holy Spirit who IS able to lead you into all truth. This is where our faith should be. Always letting the truth set us free.

Deborah Eberhard
How does hate and unforgiveness blind us spiritually? It's all too easy to fall into the temptations of this world and let pride get in our way. We've all been tested and as we get closer to God, satan wants to tempt us even more. Hate and unforgiveness only lead to darkness. As quoted in Matthew 6:15 "If you do not forgive others of their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." Therefore blinding us spiritually. You cannot let your guard down, you have to hold on strong to love, faith, and hope. You have to put all of your trust in Jesus and really know what He did for us on that cross. Everytime I feel completely healed and at peace inside my heart, the devil comes along and reminds me of the cruelty of this world. Past hurts are resurfaced that I thought were healed, and I have to again lean on Jesus to heal me. It's an ongoing process and we need to be constantly reminded of that. If we have been darkened by hurt and hate, how do we come into the light? I can't imagine anyone out there that hasn't been darkened by hurt and hate. It's all around us, everywhere. This world is full of evil, cruelty lurks all around us. The only way to the light is through love and forgiveness. Pray without ceasing. I like to imagine keeping God on speaker phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
