Q2. The Purifying Hope

Recommended Posts

Q2. (1 John 2:28; 3:2-3) In what way does our expectation of Christ's Second Coming motivate us to purify ourselves from sin? How does purifying ourselves from sin relate to God's grace?

The expectation of Christ second coming should motivate us to live a constant life of repentance. We should continue to change our lifestyles to serve and love others as Jesus did. Its not about us; its about doing things that glorify Gods' kingdom.

It is only through Gods' grace and mercy that allows us to purify ourselves through repentence;God wants us to cleanup our lives and confess of any unforgiven sins. We will be truly purify when the Father comes.

Q2. (1 John 2:28; 3:2-3) In what way does our expectation of Christ's Second Coming motivate us to purify ourselves from sin? How does purifying ourselves from sin relate to God's grace?

When Christ comes for us we shall 'see Him in His glory' falling at His feet we will be overcome by His love and holiness. Any unconfessed sin in our life will hand around our necks like a lead anchor causing us such shame!

Whe He comes Jesus Christ will judge the saints as well as the ungodly. The saints will have to answer how we have used the talents and grace HE has given us (viz the parable of the Talents) We must work for His Kingdom while He gives us time... not motivated by fear - but by love for our Lord and Saviour.

The more w know and receive God's grace the more we want to be live clean lives for His glory... putting away anything in our lives that is not pleasing to Him.

We are told to be ready for at anytime the second Coming will appear. Jesus wants our clean pure heart and to have this we must repent and clear up any accountability of our sins and he promises to make us more like him (purify) us.

Q2. (1 John 2:28; 3:2-3) In what way does our expectation of Christ's Second Coming motivate us to purify ourselves from sin? How does purifying ourselves from sin relate to God's grace?

The expectation of Christ's return should motivate believers to purify themselves with a sense of urgency in order to be prepared for Christ's return. Another point to remember is that each person lives in their own end times. We don't know when Christ is coming again and we don't know when we are going to die an earthly death.

God shows grace in helping to purify the believer through His Holy spirit

In what way does our expectation of Christ's Second Coming motivate us to purify ourselves from sin?

When we believe that we will soon be in the presence of Jesus, then we will get ourselves ready or prepared for this encounter. (Much like cleaning a home when we know that we will have company coming over.) But, the Bible advises us to keep ourselves in the mindset and attitude of love, continually. We do not walk in love to become Christians, however, walking in love is the Christianly thing to do and a command from Jesus. (We want to keep our homes clean just in case someone drops by, unannounced.)

How does purifying ourselves from sin relate to God's grace?

Maintaining a love walk, will keep us in the grace of God. Matthew 22:40 says if we keep the law of love, then we will be keeping all laws and prophecies alive and functioning in our lives. There can be no purification apart from the practice of loving the Lord and our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Our expectation of Christ's coming motivates me to purify myself from sin so that we are ready and watching for His coming. We want to spend eternity with Jesus and not be left behind.

Our purifying ourselves from sin relates to God's grace in that by putting away all sin and walking with God by constant devotions and personal relationship with Jesus. Making sure that we get rid of all improper thoughts and deeds and being ready when He calls us home.

Q2. (1 John 2:28; 3:2-3) In what way does our expectation of Christ's Second Coming motivate us to purify ourselves from sin? How does purifying ourselves from sin relate to God's grace?

The literal return of Jesus Christ to this earth is something I pray for daily. How much we need him here to put right this sorrowing, suffering world. I want to be a part of that! To be there I have to be under his grace, righteous in his sight, through his transforming power in me. I have to yield willingly - and gladly - to him and him living his life in me so that I put off the old man, and put on the new. Obedience to his laws - the ten commandments and all their spiritual extrapolations - is essential, but I can only do it through him in me.

This is a wonderful study, and I am really enjoying it.

Q2. (1 John 2:28; 3:2-3) In what way does our expectation of Christ's Second Coming motivate us to purify ourselves from sin? How does purifying ourselves from sin relate to God's grace?

If we are looking forward to Christ's coming, and we take it and His authority seriously, we repent (turn from) sin and strive to live in ways we know are pleasing to Him, because we want to be confident and not afraid when we stand before Him at His coming. God's grace in our purification is the power behind the scene that helps us change: He is really the One doing the changing; we are responsible to cooperate with the changing by making the effort.

We are motivated to purify ourselves from sin because we do not know when He will return. Jesus will judge the world of righteousness and unrighteousness. As children of God we want to be purified from sin so that when Jesus returns we can appear with Him as He is with the same nature.

How does purifying ourselves from sin relate to God's grace?

God has graciously given us the presence of the Holy Spirit to guide us into those things which are holy. We are called to be holy even as Christ is holy.

Q2. (1 John 2:28; 3:2-3) In what way does our expectation of Christ's Second Coming motivate us to purify ourselves from sin? How does purifying ourselves from sin relate to God's grace?

2 Peter 11-15: tells us to be prepared for the 2 Advent (Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 15And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you.) Knowing that the 2 Coming is without question, we need to strive, with the help of the H.S., to prepare ourselves to be spotless.

We are purified by God's grace and mercy. But, we must be an active participant if we want the promise of eternal life. Our salvation has been paid with a price and we have the responsibility to clean ourselves in preparation.

In what way does our expectation of Christ's Second Coming motivate us to purify ourselves from sin?

The expectation that Christ is coming keeps us alert, on our toes..... we try to stay pure and away form sin. This is not a "maybe" for us...but we know Christ will come again and receive us unto Himself.

How does purifying ourselves from sin relate to God's grace?

We need to keep trying, we all know that we are saved by grace, but if we use that as an excuse, we tend to become lax and not do our best. We need to be faithful to do what is right.

Since we do not know when He is coming, we have to stay ready for His return.

We can't just rely on God's Grace, yes He shows us Grace once we learn it, we learn grace by repenting from sin and trying to wash away sin from us.

Q2. (1 John 2:28; 3:2-3) In what way does our expectation of Christ's Second Coming motivate us to purify ourselves from sin? How does purifying ourselves from sin relate to God's grace?

It is for me the confession of my faith and possession of the Holy spirit's blessings that cause me to ask Him ot make me a better man. I am weak, as are ALL-men/people. But being weak/meek can become a blessing when we recognize our need for Him and to depend upon Him. With faith in His resurrection, we can also have faith that he will come back as he said he would, and also that he will never leave or forsake us. So faith is the key issue here, have faith and it would be natural to wish to be better, cleaner, purer, for our loving Savior who died for us.

We're unable to purify ourselves but we can still attempt to turn away from earthly bad habits. And to stop lying to ourselves about what is acceptable in this fallen world.

Q2. (1 John 2:28; 3:2-3) In what way does our expectation of Christ's Second Coming motivate us to purify ourselves from sin? How does purifying ourselves from sin relate to God's grace?

Answer:

We cannot purify ourselves by our OWN EFFORT..if we try to do it in our own righteous way,we negate the sacrifice that was so perfect we got double forgiveness..

Isaiah 40:2-Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins.

Doudle forgiveness means, that once we make Jesus as our Lord and Personal Saviour, the issue of Sin is already taken care of..the payment is forever paid, hence the word

Christ Second Coming should motivate

us to persever in the faith of salvation and obedience. As a child of God, we know our Lord is coming back. We don't want to miss reigning with our Lord and Savior because of some sin in our life. We have to chedk ourselves everyday and ask God's forgiveness. We can purdify ourselves because of God's grace. His is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins. Ask forgiveness with a true heart, let God take away any sin you may have, ask Holy Spirit to lead and guide you in His truth.

In what way does our expectation of Christ's Second Comingmotivate us to purify ourselves from sin? How does purifying ourselves from sin relate to God's grace?

1 Thessalonians 5:2 "For you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night"

He is going to return at any time, the expectation of his return is intended to keep us aware, alert and prepared. It is impossible to be sinless and human, but we can continue to repent and purify ourselves to be prepared for His return. But, there is no work we can do to save ourselves, it is by God's grace alone that we are saved. However, we cannot lean on that, we must change our ways and live a more sin free life. The Bible does warn that when the master returns we will be dealt with harshly, and we will be held accountable for our actions.

It has been my own personal experience that if we get into the Word daily, study what God has put in front of us, and receive Him into our hearts, that the Holy Spirit does much of the work for us. Temptation will always be there, but when you have Jesus in your heart and living within you, it's much easier to turn away from. You just have to be strong and consistent in your commitment to Christ.

Q2. (1 John 2:28; 3:2-3) In what way does our expectation of Christ's Second Coming motivate us to purify ourselves from sin? How does purifying ourselves from sin relate to God's grace?

Jesus's Second Coming should motivate believers to purify themselves from sin so that they are confident in Christ and have no shame

when Jesus returns. Additionally and most importantly, The believer does not want to be doing anything that he/she would not want to be doing when Christ returns.

It is through grace we are saved from the consequences of sin and in that grace we are to purify ourselves so that we might be morally like Jesus Christ. Thus we Jesus returns we shall see Him as he is, for to to see Him is to be like Him. Purifing oneself in God's grace is to identify with the Lord Jesus Christ and His Father in Heaven.

Q2. (1 John 2:28; 3:2-3) In what way does our expectation of Christ's Second Coming motivate us to purify ourselves from sin?

We don't want to be ashamed of ourselves when Jesus comes again. He told us in His word to raise our heads when we see these things (the signs of His imminent coming) appearing, because it'll be happening very soon.

How does purifying ourselves from sin relate to God's grace?

Without God's grace and help any purifying we might attempt is worthless. Anything done in our own strength won't be effective. We're given a Helper in the form of the Holy Spirit and His indwelling helps us to purify ourselves. But we have to let Him have His way.

If we want to be resurrected at the day that Christ returns then we are to live a life worth that resurrection. If we don’t expect Jesus to return then we would probably change our life style.

To purify ourselves means that we have done that best that we can to turn away from sin. That doesn’t mean that we don’t sin it just means that we have done our best not to sin therefore only Jesus can take care of the rest.
