PATCH
Q1. (Genesis 28:3-4) Why does Isaac bless Jacob, especially after Jacobs deception? How does this blessing compare to other blessings of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? What are the main elements of Isaacs blessing? It is clear that Isaac loved Jacob unconditionally. He himself must have understood the depth of God's unconditional love and he extended the same grace to Jacob. Therefore even though Isaac knew he was deceived by Jacob he continued to bless Jacob because he understood the will of God in Jacob's life. The blessing was similar to what God blessed gave Abraham - that Jacob will be fruitful, he will possess the land and the nations will be blessed through him (these are the main elements of Isaac's blessings). It is proof that God keeps His promises from generation to generation if we do not break our covenant with Him.
linda bass
Isaac blesses Jacob inspite of Jacob's earlier deception because he is beginning to see that Jacob is indeed the son through whom God's promise to Abraham will be fulfilled. This blessing compares to other blessings of Abraham,Isaac, and Jacob in that it promises 1]Fruitfulness-numerous descendants 2]Land-the land of Canaan 3]World-the nations of the world would be blessed. The main elements of Isaac's blessing are basically the same as the blessing God gave to Abraham.

DrD
I believe that Isaac was aware of God's will and plan concerning the covenant He made with Abraham and that it included Jacob - so Isaac was simply participating in God's plan by pronouncing these blessing on Jacob. . . There were three major elements in the blessing; (1) fruitfulnes - numerous descendants; (2) land - the land of Canaan; and (3) the world as a whole - all nations of the world will be blessed through Abraham. . . Old Jerry
I think that Isaac blessed Jacob because Esau had disappointed him in marrying Hittite women. These women were a sore spot for him and he didn’t want Jacob marrying any of them. These blessing are the same ones that Abraham and Isaac received and they are the ones that Isaac passed onto Jacob. The main elements of Isaac’s blessing is being fruitful, acquire land and the world would be blessed.
Irmela
Q1. (Genesis 28:3-4) Why does Isaac bless Jacob, especially after Jacob's deception? How does this blessing compare to other blessings of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? What are the main elements of Isaac's blessing? In the whole passage it never points out that Jacob is not loved by Isaac. The claim is made that Esau is the favourite son of Isaac. If Rebekah is aware of Esau's intentions, I am sure that Isaac too is aware of the tension between his sons. For this to ease, the best will be to send Jacob away for a while, even if it is on the pretext of getting a wife from his mother's kin. So when sending Jacob away , it would be appropriate to do so with a blessing. Also, Isaac has very likely realized by now that Jacob was the son through whom the BLESSING of Abraham would continue. The blessing is inclusive as he states to be blessed with the blessing He gave to Abraham. The specific elements mentioned are, being fruitful and inheriting the land.
