The elements of Paul's prayer are: knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.

1. A life worthy of the Lord

2. Please Him in every way.

3. Bearing fruit in every good work.

4. Growing in the knowledge of God.

5. Strengthened with all power according to His glorious might.

They all are important. You can't single one thing out and say which is the most important and which isn't. We as children of God and disciples of christ need all these elements thats the reason Paul prays for us.

If any of these are missing we will be missing out on the Truth of what we need and how we need to be living as Children of God.

The elements of Paul's prayer for the Colossians are characteristics (profiles) of growing believers.

Specifically, they are: knowing God's Will, spiritual wisdom and understanding, a life pleasing to Jesus, bearing fruit by doing good works, having an intimate relationship with the Lord, being strengthened by God' power, patience,thankfulness, and joy.

All of these characteristics are equally important. However, developing one's relationship with God is bound to produce the other fruits within the life of the Christian.

When some of these attributes are missing the Christian can grow weary (in well doing)as the issues of life take their toll!

I think they are all important but I wonder if we do some if they do not automatically produce some of the others.

There should be a sameness between our conduct and our religion. If something is missing it will manifest itself in our conduct and hurt our representation if you will of our Lord. We are as ambassadors for Him in this world and it should show in the lives we live.

Paul prays that God will fill them with knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. He wants them to have the facts (knowledge), be able to apply the facts to their own lives (understanding), and to make choices that demonstrate Godliness (wisdom). I think it is interesting that Paul prays for what God is already anxious to give. Prov. 2:6, 10; 9:10; 24:3-4.

It appears that, in combination, they produce a measure of fruitfulness, growth, strength, power, endurance, patience, thankfullness, and joy.

A Christian disciple desires to live a life that pleases God and Glorifies Him. All of these characteristics should be evident in response to the fact that He has rescued, redeemed, forgiven, and welcomed us into the kingdom of His Son.

If any are missing, it will reduce the effectiveness of our witness and indicate that we need to strengthen our relationship with Him.

In my opinion the most important thing is to be filled with the knowledge of His will. If we don't have that then all of the other results will become unimportant to us; therefore, become missing in our lives. When these things are missing from our lives we become tired of waiting for God's answer and God's timing which goes back to Q1 about false teachings. When we grow tired of waiting we look for something that will give us instant answers instead of waiting for God's perfect timing.

The elements of Paul’s prayer is that the Colossian believers would be filled with God’s knowledge, that they would be empowered, desiring to live according to God’s will, filled with His wisdom, understanding God’s will is that their spiritual lives would be that of giving glory to God, by walking a walk that pleases Him, as it brings forth good fruit, that through the power of God, they will be patient and longsuffering when trials come their way, with the end results being, they will give praise to God, because they understand the joy that is in their heart and the power they have to overcome the obstacles that come their way, is because of the grace of God, and their obedience to His call.

Which of these are most important in a Christian disciple?

The most important I think is that they “"DESIRE"” to be filled with the knowledge and the wisdom of God’s will, that they “"DESIRE"” to walk a walk worthy of the Lord.

Which, you think, are least important? There are none that are least important, but, if one does not desire to walk the walk, the rest will be unimportant to a person who calls themselves “a believer.”

What happens when some are missing?

It would be difficult giving thanks unto the Father as one goes before His throne delinquent in their walk with Him.

Joy would be missing, for true joy is found in a person who loves God, God tells us, “If you love me, keep my commandments”

Paul prays for spiritual insight, a worthy walk, abundant power, and a thankful spirit for the Colossians. This will result in them knowing God's will, having spiritual wisdom and understanding, living a life worthy of Jesus, bearing fruit by doing good works, growing in their relationship to God, also being strengthened by God's power, and ultimately having the qualities of endurance, patience, thankfulness, and joy. All of these are important but we, as believers, cannot do it on our own. It requires supernatural strength, the strength which comes from the power of the risen Son of God. When we are saved God instantly makes us fit for heaven. That fitness is Christ. Nothing can improve on that. Not even a long life of obedience and service here on earth can make us more eligible for heaven than the day we were saved. Our title to glory is found in His blood. We have the Holy Spirit as the

For specific results to be produced in their lives, Paul prays that God will fill

them with the 'knowledge' of knowing His will through all spiritual 'wisdom and

understanding.' That they may live life 'worthy of the Lord and 'pleasing' to Him;

to be able to 'bear fruits' by doing good works; to grow and have closer

'relationship' with God and with God's strength and power they might have great

Every gift has a part to play in a Christian life. To leave out one or the other is

The elements of Paul's prayer are petition for 1)spiritual wisdom and understanding, 2) strength in His power and glorious might, and 3) thankful hearts. Which is most/least important? I don't think the LORD wasted any words here. Each one is "most important" in a follower of Christ! The petitions are the source of each result that is expected as evidence of genuine faith in Christ. Without spiritual wisdom and understanding, one will lack knowledge of God's will and thus be unable to walk worthy of Christ's example of bearing fruit in doing the good works of the Father. There will be no growth in knowing God more intimately on a personal level. Without increasing power of His glorious might, one will lack spiritual strength to endure patiently. And without a grateful attitude, one will certainly lack true joy.

Paul prays that God will fill the Colossian believers with the knowledge of his will so that they can live lives worthy of the Lord, pleasing him in every way.

Paul asks that they may be given wisdom, understanding, strength,endurance, patience, joy, a thankful heart,knowing His will.

I think the most important of these is --- to know God's will.

I couldn't say which of these is the least important, they all seem equally important. If any were to be missing then that would be a great handicap both in the life of the believer and those they seek to minister to.

The 3 main elements are for the believers to come into the full knowledge of God's will, wisdom, purposes and understanding of spiritual things; that they walk worthy of His calling; and that they be strengthened and filled with all power.

These he prays will produce lives fully pleasing to God, and that they would desire to please Him in all things, that they bear fruit in every good work, that they will grow in Him and increase in and by God's knowledge with deeper, clearer insight, acquaintance and recognition. That their powerful lives bring glory to Him and that they might exercise every kind of endurance and patient perseverance and forbearance with joy.

Which of these are most important in a Christian disciple? Which, do you think are least important.

I tried to think which ones don't really matter all that much, and could not find any that are not essential to the Christian life.

What happens when some are missing?

If power if missing, the disciple is weak and ineffective. If knowledge of His will or the desire to do His will is missing, the life is lived in the flesh, rather than the Spirit. This disciple will be an easy prey for Satan to attack and keep in bondage. The lack of knowledge of God and His powerful Sovereignty, will leave the disciple filled with unbelief and fear. The full prayer will produce a humble, loving, powerful child of God and effective witness to the unbeliever, because their lives show the hand of God in them and they walk in His joy.

All are important, but I think the most important is to know God's will and to grow closer to him day by day. If we grow closer to him and know his will, then all the others will be added to us.
