Lion of Grace Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Three or four action verbs in vs. 12 and 13 are: Qualified Rescued Brought Qualified to share in the inheritance of the Saints. Rescued from the dominion of darkness. Brought into the Kingdom of the Son He loves. We give thanks to the Father who does this for all believers. We are qualified to share in the inheritance of the Saints through the blood of Jesus as we believe in Him. We are delivered from the hands of Satan, rescued from sin and death, as we were bought for a price, and nothing can ever separate us from God again! We are His and He is ours! Amen. Quote

Greta Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 God has Rescued us, Redeemed us and Forgiven us our sins for he has Brought us into the Kingdom and Qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. God did this for us sinners. We were Qualified through God's grace and not by any good in ourselves, or by anything we have done to deserve his forgiveness and love. We were also rescued by God's grace. We couldn't help ourselves, we could just call out like a wounded lamb until God came and set us free. Love from Greta Quote
JanMary Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 Q4. (Colossians 1:12-13) What are the three or four action verbs in verses 12 and 13 that paint a picture of salvation? Has delivered; and drawn us to Himself; Out of darkness ; into the Kingdom of the son of Light. Who performs the action? The Father Who is it performed on? Those who are drawn by the Father to His Son who then become God's holy people In what way were we "qualified/enabled/made meet"? We said "Yes" to His invitation In what way were we "rescued" or "delivered"? We were held captive in the dominion of darkness by Satan, and God plucked us out of satan's hands, and brought us into the Kingdom of His Son where He keeps delivering us from ourselves, from bondages, from sin and woundedness. Quote
janel Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 Q4 "Qualified;' 'share;' 'rescued;' and 'brought' These actions are performed by God the Father on the people of God. We were "qualified/enabled/made" through the grace of God and our faith in Him. We were "rescued or delivered" through the forgiveness of our sins. Quote
pickledilly Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 The verbs rescued, transferred, redeemed, and forgiven paint the picture of salvation. The Father performs these actions through His beloved Son, Christ Jesus. These actions are performed on/in/for the saints, those who have heard of the grace of God in the truth of the gospel and have placed their faith in it (vs.4-6). In our natural state, we are unqualified and unfit for the Kingdom of the Son. We are transgressors against God in our rebellion. No one in that state can inherit His Kingdom. We are destined to spiritual death because of our ungodliness and sin. We are powerless and completely unable to change our condition or our certain fate of eternal separation from God. But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). God stepped in to provide the grace of forgiveness, justification, and reconciliation. He provides a rescue from the condition and consequence of sin. He offers a transfer from death in darkness to everlasting life in Light. He makes us fit, enabled, qualified to meet the terms of the inheritance of His Kingdom. We have nothing to offer in the process but the element of faith. If we confess with the mouth that Jesus is Lord and purely believe in the heart that God raised Him from the dead we are saved (Romans 10:9). Quote

Janelle Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Rescued, redemption, bought, forgiven. Jesus. We as sinners, God chose me and how wonderfull is that, I can receive His favour, mercy and grace, all given freely.I think we are esentially rescued from ourselves, redemed through the shed blood of Christ, bought with His blood, and forgiven of all our wrong- through confession. We are comanded to be a living temple of God, we are His property, we don't belong to ourselves, and we are released from the bondage of satan, forgivness liberates us from our old past life of sin, it is without conditions. Jesus wiped my slate clean with HIs precious blood, and how wonderfull that is- it is no longer I that live, but Christ that lives in me ect. Quote

janspiljard Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 a. 1) Qualified 2) Rescued 3) Brought us into the kingdom 4) Redeemed 5) Forgiven Al these actions start in Colossians 1:12 with the subject, the Father. So it is God who is doing the actions. The object of God's action is "us", meaning all believers. So Go did all the action and we were not required to do anything. We are on the receiving end and that is all for us. b. God, and God alone, has allowed us to approach him. We have no standing on our own to come before God. God therefore had to make sure the circumstances were right for us to approach God. And he has done so through the sacrifical love of Jesus (His own sacrificial love). He died for us to pave the way for us to be able to approach God again. Not one bit of this was our own effort. God qualified us, rescued us, brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, redeemed/delivered us, forgave us. Quote
