The action verbs used to paint a picture of salvation are qualified, rescued, redeemed, and forgiven.

It is God the Father who performs the action of salvation.

The action is performed on anyone who accepts Christ.

We were qualified/enabled when we accepted the fact that only God alone could save us from our sins.

We were "rescued" or delivered" when we accepted Christ as our Savior. It was then that He saved us from are sins and brought us out of Satan's kingdom of darkness.

Rescued ,redemption,and forgiveness!

Christ preforms the action!

It is performed on the Colossians (and us as believers)!

We must learn forgiveness from Christ and in turn forgive others to be qualified!

We were rescued, delivered from the darkness( death ) by Christ shed blood on the Cross, which forgave us and covered our sins and delivered us into the light of His Kingdom!!

The verbs are rescued, delivered, and brought; all of which God did and still does for those who believe and repent. He is the one who performs the action for believers, who He qualifies by His grace and mercy. He rescued and delivered us from a life of slavery, sin, and darkness, with the offer of salvation to those of us who believe.

The Greek word used to paint a picture of salvation is hikanoō, translated 'enabled' in NRSV. God's grace enabled us for salvation. We are allowed to approach God clothed in the righteousness of Jesus the messiah. It is only by the grace of God through Christ that we are enabled to stand in righteousness before the Lord.

rhyomai  translated delivered or rescued from danger. we are delivered from the evil grip of Satan and from the great chasm that is set in place. Luke 16,25

methistēmi, translated as "transfer from one place to another, remove." No more are we children of darkness but we have become transferred to children of light by the power of the love of the Lord who loved the world so much he gave His only Son that whoever believes on Him shall have eternal life.

apolytrōsis. translated as redemption. The implication is that we were in slavery, in bondage, unable to help ourselves. But Jesus' death on the cross paid the price for our manumission, our purchase from sin.

phesis  translated forgiveness. Originally the word meant, "the act of freeing and liberating from something that confines, release" from captivity.  it means here, "the act of freeing from an obligation, guilt, or punishment, pardon, cancellation. WE have been forgiven of all your sins! It is a free and complete pardon!

This actions are performed by God through the saving action of Christ and they are performed upon us as individuals and upon the church as a whole. For we are one body in Christ.

We are delivered into the arms of Christ by His saving action which springs from the Grace of God Himself.
