sylverd
The mystery Paul is talking about is that salvation is provided through Jesus for the Gentiles, and not only to the Jews. The hope of glory refers to the presence of God which is so magnificient that it is really beyond description. Someday we will live continuously in God's presence, after we have suffered here on this earth for "a short time." When we finally live eternally in His wonderful presence our suffering will be only a distant memory, and it will all be worth it. Whenever we are in deep trials, when we seek God desperately with our whole being, He will meet us by sending the Holy Spirit to comfort us and give us a glimpse into what is in store for us someday. Right now we are "looking through a glass dimly", but someday all things will be made clear. Even here on earth, if we seek God's face, He will give us a magnificent glimpse of what is to come, and it brings us great comfort and joy to help bear us up and sustain us through our trials and temptations. Beautifully said!!
beeting
(Colossians 1:26-27) What is the mystery that Paul talks about? In what sense was, "Christ in you, the hope of glory," hidden prior to this? In what sense is "glory" used here? What does "the hope of glory" mean in this context? Mystery that Paul talks about is the gospel. At first, the gospel is for the chosen Jews people ,but afterward also for the Gentiles. This mystery is overflowing with blessing and "glorious riches." At first, we must know we are not suitable to recieve his Blessing and glorious riches but because God mercy and Grace, we recieved it freely o it can be say take for granted. Thanks God for this gift... Amen When we have this relationship we God, we will become more like Christ and his likeness is revealing through us, specially hw we act in the darkness. For we are the light and salt of the world. through this God glory will reveal among the others. Plus, our life is in Jesus, strength is in Jesus and live too, so Jesus also live in us. what i understand 'The hope of glory' mean what we do in Christ shall not be in vain. And we keep follow him until his return no matter what happen, no matter hw people think about us, we keep believing and have faith in Him. janel
Q2 The mystery is that Christ, the Messiah not only dwell in the chosen Jewish people, but also in the Gentiles. It is a mystery overflowing with blessings to its recipients. Prior to this, we have been focusing on the unseen and missing out on the seen. "Glory" used here as weightiness, honor, associated with the brilliant light and overwhelming splendor of God's presence. When Christ is in us, there is a sure hope of our own experience of and participation in God's glory, both now and in heaven.
haar
The mystery Paul talked aboout is that the Gentiles were now included in the plan of salvation and not just Jewas alone. This amazing grace that included the gentiles in the plan of salvation qualified them to partake in the glory of God here on earth and in heaven. God is glorious in character and in all aspects. That we are his children and will be like Him in heaven is hope that should keep us trusting Him.
pickledilly
Prior to this I think this mystery is hidden by dependence on a legal system. On human abilities. In many ways, it is still hidden today that way. I agree with this thought! The legal system of God's Law has been replaced with grace, but false religions still depend on its principles and this blinds people to what Christ has revealed. Thanks! linda bass
The mystery that Paul is talking about is Christ would not just indwell in the chosen Jewish people, but Gentiles would also receive His blessings. "Christ in you,the hope of glory" was hidden prior to this in the sense that up to that time, only the Jews were considered in God's salvation plan. In the gospels,Jesus refers to going to the lost sheep of Israel. "Glory" is used here in the sense that we are being transformed into His likeness. Ramon
Question: What is the mystery that Paul talks about? Answer:The Mystery that people is talking about is The TRUE MESSIAH..in the person of Jesus Christ, the grace of God,that they have been waiting but failed to see..and instead crucified HIM,accused of being a heretic, and blasphemous, because they did not know, for had they know they will not crucify Him(1 Corinthians 2:8-Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. )It is the message of salvation, prophesied by the prophets, and search deligently, that The Grace of God shall appear to all men,..but failed to see..hence it is a mystery to them(1 Peter 1:10-). The great mystery is TO ACCEPT JESUS AS LORD AND SAVIOUR,and be saved,NOT BY DOING WHAT THE LAW REQUIRED,..this Good news is mystery to the Jews and Gentiles alike, who still adheres to the early covenant teaching of the Law which is just types and shadows to come. Question: In what sense was, "Christ in you, the hope of glory," hidden prior to this? Answer:It was hidden, when the mindset of person is focused on pleasing God and Man,by doing this and that, according to the Law,and not depending on what Jesus has done on the Cross. Question: ? In what sense is "glory" used here? What does "the hope of glory" mean in this context? Answer:Glory was used in highest form of exaltation and Honor, accorded only to the True and Living God.The Hope of Glory mean in this context is OUR BEING ONE WITH CHRIST JESUS,that we can attain only this Highest form of reverence, through our UNION WITH CHRIST JESUS. poetmom
As far as what it means to live with the "hope of glory," I think since glory is defined as "honor" or "weightiness," we must anticipate the weighty honor of living with Christ forever. We are not honored because of our own works; we are honored because of what Christ has done for us--an honor we do not deserve but can gladly accept on behalf of Christ's work for us and in us!
